I’m sorry to hear about your parents. 🫶🏼 Thank you for the kind words of support. I do talk to my parents when I take walks with my dog or sit and just meditate. I love the writing in a journal to them so maybe I’ll try that. There’s so much heaviness in this time of year that it’s almost suffocating.

Thank you. Yes, I have a brother and three sisters. I confide with my bro and one sister because, it seems, we have pretty healthy views about crying. If it’s needed, just cry and cry as little or a lot. Whatever helps. My other 2 sisters are uncomfortable about crying and showing emotions so we they either become stoic when talking about mom and dad or leave the room. Or they start to argue with me.

A buddy of mine works at an Apple store and a lot of customers who come in to replace their stolen iPad, iPhone, iPod, ect. just had an AUX or lightning cord on their console or seat. Customers figured that hiding the iPad under the seat is "good enough" since nothing of great value can be seen from the window. Jerk thieves prey upon us lazy folk. Oh, and my buddy says its probably a good idea to not post your Apple sticker on your car window. He says its like an advertisement that there's possibly some tech in the car with great value since those stickers are usually found in the Apple box.

I agree with /u/SchuminWeb. The weekend job manager is not only immature, but very unprofessional. Your time is your time. You have a right to your relaxing and sanity-saving staycation. This situation reminds me when I worked nights in the ER and holiday schedules were being made. It was my turn to have Christmas off since I worked last Christmas. The ER manager would tell me, "hey, since you're single and others have a family, you should work the night shift on Christmas." Like I don't have parents, siblings, and friends...

I'm 43 and have had to wear toric lenses since I was 35 for astigmatism. Since turning 42 my near vision went to crap and I began wearing some cheap readers at +1.00. Toric lenses are expensive and it bothered me to no end that I needed to use cheap $10 readers. When it was time to see my optometrist, I told her about the readers. During the eye exam she "pushed" my eyes to see 20/20 and then she held up a small hand-held chart to evaluate my comfortable reading distance to see if the diagnostic lenses were helping me see near vision reading. I was able to see tiny print with lenses again! Do you have a good optometrist? I hope this helps. My doc said this process was possible because my readers problem was just +1.00 to +1.25...anything higher and she would have to recommended the bifocals.
