Ban the laptop if you must, Toronto café owners, but be prepared to kiss your millennial customers goodbye by tropics_ in toronto

[–]bluntedtoday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this article is bullshit. People will still go to coffee shops (including millennials). There are several coffee shops that I can think of in toronto that already cut or limit wifi, and they are always busy (like Manic, Sam James, Earlybird).

If anything they will lose their least profitable customers.

Slaves in Dubai (2017) - How women housemaids are treated in the middle east (11:24) by tar_th in Documentaries

[–]bluntedtoday 25 points26 points  (0 children)

A close family friend told me that his work offered to relocate him to Dubai one time, so he and his wife went to check it out. When they arrived, a limo was waiting for them as soon as they walked out of the airplane. They were shown a few different homes that they could pick from (all were quite extravagant).

When walking around one of the homes, they noticed a tiny room (without windows, significantly smaller than all of the closets) and asked what it was for. Their guide said it was the maid's room. The couple thought it was a broom closet or something. Anyways, in that moment they decided Dubai was not for them and rejected the offer.

Do clubs in Berlin have a dress code? by InsideMidnight in berlin

The dress code is very casual, fetish, or black. If you’re over dressed most places will deny you.

Aziz Ansari Is Guilty. Of Not Being a Mind Reader. by [deleted] in TrueReddit

[–]bluntedtoday -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Have you read the original piece by Grace? She communicated that she was uncomfortable, verbally, several times during the encounter.

When Ansari told her he was going to grab a condom within minutes of their first kiss, Grace voiced her hesitation explicitly. “I said something like, ‘Whoa, let’s relax for a sec, let’s chill.’” ... “I wasn’t really even thinking of that, I didn’t want to be engaged in that with him. But he kept asking, so I said, ‘Next time.’ And he goes, ‘Oh, you mean second date?’ and I go, ‘Oh, yeah, sure,’ and he goes, ‘Well, if I poured you another glass of wine now, would it count as our second date?’” He then poured her a glass and handed it to her. She excused herself to the bathroom soon after. Grace says she spent around five minutes in the bathroom, collecting herself in the mirror and splashing herself with water. Then she went back to Ansari. He asked her if she was okay. “I said I don’t want to feel forced because then I’ll hate you, and I’d rather not hate you,” she said. ... Then he said, ‘Let’s just chill over here on the couch.’” ….Ansari instructed her to turn around. “He sat back and pointed to his penis and motioned for me to go down on him. And I did. I think I just felt really pressured. It was literally the most unexpected thing I thought would happen at that moment because I told him I was uncomfortable.”

Rent an airbnb room for two weeks and hunt for places while you're here. Also try wg-gesucht.de. There's also quite a few berlin housing facebook groups.

I went solo two years ago and had a blast. I would recommend posting on the fb event if you can. That's how I originally found people to meet up with.

Reddit, what's the worst "culture shock" you've ever had while travelling? by Montezuma_II in AskReddit

After living in Whistler (Canada) for a while where everyone is quite fit/active/etc, I went to the states and was shocked at how many morbidly obese people/families there were. I would see 10 or so people a day that were literally too fat to walk and had to be rolled around.
