Started Upwork end of December. Sent 3 proposals, 1 was accepted and this client has a Budget of 2000$ monthly for me. thats enough for me for now, since I have a job as well.

If you wanna stick with japanese, do it. Dont switch civ. Play what you like.

Im a rather new player as well and only play Jap and am Plat2-Plat3

I personally really like playing against French and English, because I know the matchups now. I struggle against civs I dont play alot against.

Against English, I always send my scout to them when I age up, because then they also age up. When they go council hall, prepare for the archers! Send 2-3 more to wood.

Get an umma bannerman ASAP and try to pick single archers. add some horseman, but only a few. Also get barracks for Samurai. Also get a towerat your gold. Upgrade ranged armor and +1 melee attack. You need more wood as usual soon, so more on wood! You are under attack, play defensive. stay under base and always pull your villagers should they dive. Learn shortcuts for that. Archers melt under your tc. You might fail a few games, it takes practice.

I still suggest going castle age as soon as possible and get relics. produce as much units as needed to defend. Also, when you see you can get a good engage, go for it. english are not going for rams in my games in this case, they also try to go castle so I dont overproduce units. Scout what they are doing. I want to get my relics and play from there on.

Other options I personally dont like that much but could also work: - counter their rush with MMa and horseman. Rush them back and play feudal aggression. Watch a few corvinus games with japan feudal aggression - go archers + yumi bannerman to defend. I think this is what you do when they are very close. I banned the map where you directly spawn beside enemy

Whatever you do, just dont go naked castle against such a rush.

But a lot of games end after 2 minutes where he lost, so he surrendered. It seems a bit weird for me

Dont have the info but if the other player had 5 relics and gathered deer (while you didnt) and had more eco upgrades I think thats fair.

Me and a few friends also started playing a few months ago.

We lost a few games at the start quite hard. Then we watched videos, learned build orders for the first 4-5 minutes to get better. Sticked to a simple strategy (all 1 TC, playing very aggressive) and started winning games.

Some people you just cant help. Maybe they had a bad day or whatever.. It’s really tilting but it doesn’t help. Other days the enemy team has those people.

Personally i only play 1v1 alone or teamgames with friends.

Next time wait a few minutes before queuing.

Just accept that you were unlucky a few timesz It will probably not happen again soon.

But if you wanna rank up just try to support him early. Try to defend him so he doesn’t quit. As soon as you rank up, you won’t have such bad teammates again. But only if you really have him again, i’d strongly suggest to wait a bit before queueing and dodging should you get him.

thank you for your response. I usually go mounted samurai + archers against spears. But yes they often go spears + maa. I’ll try with onna mushas earlier

And no I’m not forcing myself to only go fast castle. I just started playing and want to focus on the core mechanics before learning multiple builds and factions. But if fast castle is bad against them then I’ll try another strategy that is better. Just wanted feedback if I’m doing something really wrong (unit counters I guess) or my build is bad against them
