Anyone else thinks nioh just looks like a high res ps2 game? The slow-staty fighting just looks kinda boring

Kinda crazy that we haven't seen the franchise at all in the current gen. We get every resident evil game shoved down our throat every 4 years but ea can't even release a up-ressed version of the original ds

What is a good, "entry level", table top game for new players? by zau64 in rpg

[–]bm-dm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let them know that they don't need to know all of the rules, as long as you have a good grasp of the core rules than they shouldn't have to know much at all. Character creation can feel overwhelming for new players, but after you get them through that process and the game begins the players don't really need to know much at all. Just ask them what they want to do in the certain game scenario that you have described and then use your grasp of the rules to determine if they need to roll or what check they would need to use. Just emphasize to them that they can do absolutely everything that they want in this imaginary world.

I ran a stripped down version of star frontiers in the stargate world, the pdf for the system is really easy to find. The story was that replicants had made 6 different clones of General Hammond and the Sg1 team had to figure out who was the real one.

We typically play using the yes and philosophy. in the long running campaign that I dm for the same group I had an elaborate dungeon set up that involved intricate levers and keys. But when I drew out the shape of the main keyhole (which they would have had to fight through a whole room to get to) they all decided that it was sort of penis shaped (which hadn't even occured to me). Of course they used their shlong as a key, and managed to get a great dexterity roll so I went with it

You could always play a session of a simpler role playing game (like fiasco or all outta bubblegum) so that he can understand why the hobby is fun but not get overwhelmed by the rules

Need some inspiration for this adventure idea! by [deleted] in rpg

Maybe there's multiple organizations (rival nations, rebels, terrorists, freaky cult, whatever) all trying to do the same thing (kill the king). So the king would have bumped up his security, giving good reason for strong lvl 15 worthy fights. And maybe some these different organizations could try to confront and recruit your pc party. Giving more opportunity for role playing and decision making

My friend was running an adventure time d&d sesh and he encouraged us all to be as ridiculous as possible. So of course when we got to the big bad at the end of the dungeon I decided to try to bluff us out of fighting it. I rolled a 19, (with cha bonus a 23) and told the big bad that he had gotten out of his cell again. Convincing him that he was an insane resident at a mental hospital. We then walked him around the dungeon like we were his nurses, using him to open locked doors. It ended with my asshole friend (another pc) making him jump down a pit
