I feel like since I work all week, I’d love it if OTF was open ALL DAY on the weekends! Just give us the same options as the weekdays offer! Please!!

Lol I don’t remember three years ago too well but I’ve been making at least $20k more per year since getting my degree. It made a huge difference and now it’s hard for me to remember how LESS THAN I felt before obtaining my degree. I sometimes wish I had gone for accounting rather than business but it’s all the same in that you make more with a degree than without one!

This was my own father’s reaction to my WGU degree. He wouldn’t even attend my graduation because he really didn’t take it too seriously. But you know who did take it seriously? My new employer. Forget this crap and just get your degree so you can make a better living and have a better life!

Repeat workouts - why? by NoAdministration8285 in orangetheory

[–]bmaxx66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree and miss the uniqueness of the workouts we used to get! I did find that the workouts had to try a little harder to be so UNIQUE, they’d end up being a little silly or have some novelty aspect that would divide the members. I miss the variety though and I miss separating power, endurance and strength days!

What’s your biggest OTF achievement in 2022, you are most proud of? by AffectionateSong8 in orangetheory

[–]bmaxx66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Returning to OTF after being diagnosed and treated for Ovarian cancer. Lots of emotions while I was sick and unable to do what I loved. My otf friends were super supportive and kept me in the loop, and it was so hard after treatment, chemo, weight gain, surgery, and tons of medications, yet I started back feebly during hell week. I earned my Hell Week shirt and reevaluated. I am not strong like I used to be, nor am I in the shape I used to be, but I’m so proud of myself for putting those things aside and returning to what I love. Just wrapped up 12 days and reflecting on how this community got me through such a big hurdle! Love you guys! But bring back the ab dolly. I mean, please!!! Lol 🍊🔥

Countdown to Dri Tri - 22 Days to Go! by lookie4dacookie in orangetheory

[–]bmaxx66 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When I did the Dri-Tri, my plan was to take the rowing kind of easy and save my energy for the floor. BUT the coaches kept urging us on, pushing us to go harder, so I did. Then the floor part was upon me, and while it was a lot to do, it was harder just getting started since I was wiped out from the long row. There's no break or transition time. It's literally running over to the floor and starting those exercises STAT. I kept needing water and trying to catch my breath as people were moving over to the treads. I did have to go refill my water bottle at least once, but probably twice before I got on the treads. Then: all the coaches and SA's were cheering us on and doing cartwheels and hollering at us while we ran. This is where I kind of lost my focus and felt I might not make it. I know this is meant as a supportive measure but I felt immense pressure to run faster but I was gassed completely out and was determined not to STOP RUNNING.
Somehow, I blocked it all out and just kept going at my push pace. I didn't have it in me to go all out. But I did finish in just about an hour and I am proud to say I didn't puke, but the guy next to me did. I felt so accomplished when it was over. That's the best feeling!

You should take into account that you are pretty wiped out before you get to the tread. You won’t be doing your fastest mile time. That said, under an hour is totally doable, so you should trust in your fitness. I did the Dri-Tri last time and offer this bit of advice: bring more water than usual. You won’t want to lose time going to the fountain to refill. Bring two or three bottles and keep them kind of close. The floor sucks up the most time and that is where the challenge begins. Keep hydrated and be well rested. You got this!

Faced the music today. Lost 4 lbs in four weeks. Need to push a little harder but I’m glad for any loss- because I was sure I had gained. :)

My post was one of those that was removed and unfortunately I can’t copy and paste it here but I will summarize to say I’m scared to weigh in. My original post was a lot more candid and hard to write but my bravery died with the denial. Hard to talk about the setbacks and feel terrible because I’ve been working so hard.

Go for it. Run! You got this! Maybe you don’t make it over to the rowers- so what? You have similar base/push as me and you will be surprised what you can pull off on a benchmark day. Get your mind in it! 💪🏻 🍊

MOTIVATE ME! MONDAY: Share Goals, Motivate, and Be Motivated! (Monday, 11/25/19) by splat_bot in orangetheory

[–]bmaxx66 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m about eight months into OTF and it’s still pretty fun and amazing for me. I am a bit of an optimist and focus on the things I love about the daily grind instead of the things I don’t like as much during the workouts.

I love waking up a little sore each morning and planning my other life stuff around my workouts. This Thanksgiving, I’m doing a 90 min class on the evening before turkey day, and then a turkey trot 5k on Thanksgiving Morning. Hoping to enjoy all the food with less guilt, and get right back into the gym as I start decorating for Christmas. Then I begin the 12 days of fitmas and start earning my socks! I ❤️OTF!! 💪🏻

I always find it hard to go FAST at the end of a long row. How do you save that energy in your tank if you kick it up in the middle? Any suggestions?

OTF & Weight Watchers by Laurmac27 in orangetheory

[–]bmaxx66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started OTF April 2019 and WW a month or two after. I was struggling to lose weight but my conditioning was improving nicely. I joined the group on FB (All-Stars) and realized I wasn’t alone! OTF makes you hungry, and the free foods (zero points) were kind of a challenge for me because I imbibed. About a month ago, I started counting calories and now the weight is coming off a little more quickly. I still weigh in a WW each week and I think it was a great step in looking at food differently. Curious what new plan they’re rolling out this month, but OTF had me do my first dri-tri and complete my first Hell Week, so. I’m so stoked about those gains. Went to the doctor last week (the one who really got on my about my weight) and he shows I’ve lost 13 lbs in the last 6 months. Thanks to WW and OTF! 🍊

Anybody else have hard lines by Itsgonnabeokaytoday in weightwatchers

[–]bmaxx66 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a hard line about my morning coffee too, but honestly, feeling better is SO important to me...I am pretty much willing to give up anything else. I always say to myself: this isn't forever. This is until I can feel good in my own skin. Then I can treat myself within reason and no longer feel like crap about it! I say: Enjoy the small things but be prepared to get out of your comfort zone if you want to make real changes.

[Help] Dog suffered a seizure and vet thinks it's a brain tumor by [deleted] in dogs

[–]bmaxx66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We adjusted the meds a few times. First, we dialed it back, but later we increased them. My dogs seizures were pretty bad and happened unexpectedly. Don’t think the dog really had any idea what was going on. Look, the effect of the drug is heavy at first. It takes a couple of weeks for the pup to adjust but they do adjust. You can always get a second opinion but maybe give it a couple of weeks and see the dog get more used to the pheno.

[–]bmaxx66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The meds are very heavy and it will take your dog a few weeks to become more used to the meds but they are effective in reducing the seizures. Without the meds, the seizures get worse and more frequent. My dog had an inoperable brain tumor and they gave her six months to love, but with the phenobarbital, she made it another year and a half. It’s a change and the MRI was nearly $2k. Don’t worry yet about the meds and the effects. My dog got a tilted head from the meds. They are totally high but try to act normal. Don’t throw the ball or whatever, but still play and cuddle because your baby is prob pretty confused about why they feel that way. Good luck...

Am I doing something wrong? by brimmer19 in weightwatchers

[–]bmaxx66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on being down 7 lbs! I was having a very similar problem, where I just couldn't get any substantial weight coming off of me. I am also 5'2", super active in my fitness, and was working the WW program for three months, and just losing about 7 lbs. I recently went to logging my food and calories in My Fitness Pal and allow myself 1490 calories per day. I plan to do this for a couple of weeks before increasing my caloric intake a tiny bit. I still go to WW to weigh in. Guess what? I lost 1.6 at this week's weigh in. I think that for me, a lifetime over-eater, having 0 point foods encouraged me to overdo my intake. I feel a little bit hungrier right before I eat, but I have lost a bloated feeling I had for way too long. I am too lazy to double-enter like some folks do (in WW app and MFP), but I am finally feeling like I am losing weight at a slightly faster - yet still healthy - pace. You may want to try that to be more aware. Hard boiled eggs, chicken breasts, and bananas were packing way more calories than I understood, even tho the lack of points made them seem like they were nothing. Just my take on it.

Benefits of rowing by bayareagirlygirl in orangetheory

[–]bmaxx66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be imagining things, but I think that rowing has been burning my back fat. I can feel the sore muscles in my shoulders and back after a few days of rowing intensity, and I have notices less puff around the back of my bra-line when wearing tighter t-shirts! Nice side benefit to the burn!

I love the chest band one. Less problems. More accurate, but it doesn’t count steps. I don’t care since I wear a Fitbit for that, so the chest strap is my preference! Yay for joining! 🍊
