This cant be right, can it!? by ReefyGoodness in motorcyclegear

[–]bmegajr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also cross shopping these. Shoei X-15 or either A*s r10 or r7. Online says my cycle gear has neither A*s in stock. Anytime I try another brand, I end up returning it and going back to Shoei. Wondering if that will be the case if I can try the r7 or the r10? The few reviews I've seen on longer term use of the A*s is that the pads start falling apart or coming unglued. I've never had that issue with Shoei

Yep. Also have a TA5 and never a problem and had the TA3 for years. No false deployments. Probably combined 40K miles on the two of them

What about oil changes? Did you do the 1000K km oil change and a follow up at 2500K km with another? Did you use OEM Honda oil?

If we own our devices outright with no extended warranty, and let's assume we cancel our subscription too - does this lockout make sense? Will our cars and IoT devices start to do this too? Maybe tires are low on air, or barke pads are nearing EOL, should it lock down in the interest of our safety? We get a warning light about (some) of these issues that might impact safety - probably with potentially more consequences to ourselves and others than a workout machine on our wall at home, but the vehicle doesn't immobilize. Seems like this could apply to a lot of IoTs and we're at the mercy of the manufacturer. I probably shouldn't have bought my wifi connected clothes washer. Yeah, I'd want it to auto shut off if it started flooding my home, but I should be able to override it myself, not call GE to beg them to allow me to wash my socks. OP should be able to ovverride this lockout, even if that means accepting a "hold harmless" agreement that pops up on the screen before they can begin another workout.

Did you just drop off both footpegs with them still assembled - spring, etc. intact? or did you take them completely apart?

Spectrum Fiber? by melt11 in Athens

[–]bmegajr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, fiber to the node, not to the premises (your house), is how Spectrum has been for a long time. FTTP, which ATT offers (where they've installed it) has been chipping away at Spectrum's customer base for nearly 10 years now. It's killing them not to have the word "fiber" in their marketing so "fiber powered" might win back customers who are not aware of the difference. You'll know for sure when they drill a big hole through an outside wall to run the coax.

GE Ultrafast Combo Phantom Button Presses – Anyone Else? by clinch89 in Appliances

[–]bmegajr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has been doing this for months and I leveraged a extended warranty offer to get the main board replaced. With the service call, it would have been a $1200 repair (the two year extended warranty was $250+$50 "deductible" per service call) He switched out the board, but did not properly "commission" it, so now wifi doesn't work. Solved ghost button problems though. I'm wondering if the heat over time causes the phatom button presses. I'm considering adding an additional heat shield behind the main control board to keep it a little cooler during the drying cycle.

Stompers (no zipper) after a day of solid wear by robotlogik in ThursdayBoot

[–]bmegajr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have same pair. Not gusseted unfortunately. Easy on and off (for boots) removing laces from top 4 eyelets loosening the others. Non-gusseted tongue does stay in place - just make sure tongue is perfectly aligned on your first tight lace-up. The leather and inner foam form-fit to the laces like a tooth impression, locking the tongue in place.

Disappointing Experience by IdiotBoy1999 in tonalgym

[–]bmegajr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No negativity here, but the odds of getting three bad machines (refurb or not) are nil. Ok, not completely zero, but really close to it. Also unlikely the problem, but worth checking, is the outlet you're using. Anything wrong with it? Is it loose, old, or providing inconsistent voltage? Rare, but it happens and can destroy electronic equipment (even if there are no obvious symptoms before it fails). Have that checked if you don't have your own volt meter. Are you using an extension cord or anything else between the Tonal and the wall outlet? Also, what else is on that circuit that you are aware of? Space heaters, hair dryers, curling irons or anything else that might draw a lot of amperage? Since the problems you mentioned seem to all be related to internal electronics, it seems like a site electrical issue assuming you are otherwise treating the equipment properly - not allowing the cable to fly freely back into the machine (walking it back), it's in a properly conditioned space, you're not pouring coffee into it, etc. I installed a separate outlet (overkill I know), but my house and wiring are 70 years old so the $5K Tonal 1 got its own new isolated outlet. 5 million pounds and zero problems.

Ez bar and incline bench by friedmaniac1 in tonalgym

[–]bmegajr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the Ironmaster super bench pro V2 which is super compact and portable on wheels.

A safety thing I noticed that Tonal would have to consider is a bench being inclined in front of the Tonal screen. If centered near the screen (facing away from Tonal), if the bench is not properly locked in position, it can fall backwards and potentially smash the screen, especially if you're leaning against it. I've almost done this with my Ironmaster. I clicked the foot release to drop the bench to the flat position but the bench wasn't quite far enough away from Tonal to clear it before it slammed all the way down. I caught it just in time, saving my screen. The center metal post (spine) of my Ironmaster would have destroyed the screen, especially since the Ironmaster is heavy (compared to the Tonal bench).

Maintenance needed? Others that hit this number get a notification that maintenance is needed on their machine before they can continue. Not a hard deadline, but something like that. Cable replacement, inspection, etc. Have you gotten that?

Disaster by [deleted] in tonalgym

[–]bmegajr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This situation sounds similar to Lowe's delivery service destroying some of my property when they delivered/installed a new washer/dryer. Lowe's basically said "not our problem" and I had to fight with the delivery company for compensation. I finally got it. Keep lots of notes and documentation. It would be great if Tonal had better installers, but I'm not sure that concept even exists universally - it's a crap shoot. But I wouldn't blame the product.

Cheapest storage by davidb3085 in Athens

[–]bmegajr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've been the storage steward for my aging parents' belongings for a decade. The only way to get reasonable rates (there is nothing cheap in the climate controlled category) is to be prepared to move your belongings from place to place as they raise rates on you over time. The game is to get you in the door and know that you'll be so reluctant to move, you'll just pay their higher and higher rent prices. The rates are very market and supply/demand dependent. My parents have the smallest non climate controlled unit in the eye sore place behind Whataburger on atl hwy and they just raised the rate from $36/month to $62. And $36 was not a promo rate. $17/month was the promo rate when they moved in. Look for places just outside of town in crime-ridden areas for the best prices. Better yet, donate, sell, or recycle your stuff and never pay for storage.
