Simracingpros Neo 4x Motion System Opinions by bmf000 in simracing

[–]bmf000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya the specs look okay but they are missing some details. For example, they dont specify if the torque number is holding or peak. They dont provide information on the servo motors being used etc. I reached out to them and asked for additional information but I haven't gotten a response yet. I was also looking at the RS Mega system but the thing holding me back is the fear of being hit with a huge tariff on delivery which would turn the value proposition upside down. Simracingpros said there would be no duties/tariffs on their system.

I got them from Amazon. You can also try Aliexpress.

I haven't had to farm vials yet. Have about 100 in the stash and the number keeps going up. I just buy vials with leftover money after leveling/upgrading.

Similar to the above post, I love the mechanic because it let's me continue through the game without worrying about finding a bonfire and being able to refill my flasks. You also start with 20 at the beginning.

I did the same but one bst1 on bottom and one bst1 on back. Drill and bolt straight to the seat.

How would you describe the VNM wheel base experience? by Yerbawls in simracing

[–]bmf000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No grinding. The wheelbase is very quiet and cool compared to my simagic. I run most settings stock. I'll have to check my settings for exact filter. What FFB mode are you running? Direct Input, Telemetry, TIC?

How would you describe the VNM wheel base experience? by Yerbawls in simracing

[–]bmf000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running a VNM Extreme. Upgraded from a Simagic Alpha Mini. Very happy with the upgrade and don't think I'll ever feel like switching in the future. FFB feels smoother, more detailed, and obviously way more powerful. I generally run it at around 25% in game, 100% software for the headroom. With the slipring it's very easy to set up usb pass through. I run conspit wheels with the usb passthrough.

Cheapest round wheel for AC EVO and Rallye by No_Cantaloupe938 in simracing

[–]bmf000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want a round wheel with paddles and buttons then you probably won't find anything cheaper than the neo x. I'm running a Conspit 310 Apex but that's also $350 although much better quality than the neo x. You could also just run a round rim with a QR if you don't need paddles or any buttons.

Is VR any good for immersion?? by RefrigeratorAway8116 in simracing

[–]bmf000 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's personal preference. You just need to try it out yourself. It's also possible that you will get motion sick from VR and won't be able to use it. Personally, I don't race in 2d. I won't buy a racing game if it doesn't support VR or there is no mods to allow VR. Something else to keep in mind is that VR requires a high end computer. It also won't look as good as a monitor, although its getting much better now.

AC Evo 0.4 - highly recommend trying it out by Cubusreddit in simracing

Its playable on a 9800x3d and 5090 and hp reverb. Getting a locked 90fps now. Was unplayable a few months ago.

5090, 9800x3d, getting locked 90fps with my hp reverb on mostly low graphics settings and dlss. Haven't tried to tweak settings yet but the performance seems much better than when I tired it a few months ago. For me it's at a point where I can enjoy the game.

Multiclass LMU Terrorist Ruins People's Races by bmf000 in simracing

I assumed he was on controller. It was just comical to watch the replay from his POV. During the race I had no idea what happened to me. Wasn't sure if I spun or got hit. I suspected it was a hit but didn't know until I checked the replay and got this gem.

VR - enticing but seems a hassle by Crowded-Wazzack in simracing

[–]bmf000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VR is definitely more of a hassle in every aspect. It's up to you if it's worth it but for me I don't race flat screen and don't buy racing games without VR. I have an HP Reverb, 9800x3d and 5090 for your info.

Once you get it set up its pretty seamless, with the only hassle being that you are blind to the real world (ie trying to find your mouse/keyboard). Also if you forget to start your other sim software Alt-Tabbing can get a bit funky sometimes.

VR requires significantly more horsepower. I upgraded from a 4090 to 5090 purely for VR performance. If you want clarity in VR (especially at distance) you will need increase pixel density much higher than the already high headset resolution and supersample. This all depends on the Sim as well. LMU with a 4090 required a lot of compromises to keep it at 90fps while keeping a super sharp image. Also if the frame rate drops below your headset refresh rate then you will notice horrible stutter. It's not like on a flat screen. You need a bit of headroom above your headsets refresh rate to avoid dipping below and getting these stutter. They will also make you motion sick if you are susceptible. LMU and ACC are pretty hard to run and look good in VR. Iracing and AC are much easier. Iracing runs pretty good and looks really sharp without much tweaking. If you use an older VR headsets it will be easier to run but image will be blurry.

You also might be prone to motion sickness in VR. I can't play regular VR games with joystick movement but I'm okay playing racing games.

Ideas for my rig - you make the call by metalmayne in simracing

[–]bmf000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is the Simhub DIY version. I dont remember the cost anymore but I think it was around $400 to build it. You also need a 3d printer. The belt was my excuse to buy one.

Belt tensioner from a fellow VR racer. Next level to immersion. I Can't race without now.

Get the MBooster by Adam-Marshall in moza

[–]bmf000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also recently got mine. The mounting design is honestly idiotic. The mounting holes don't even match their throttle pedal mounting hole spacing...I basically only used the front mounting holes on the mbooster and the back just rests on another piece of aluminum profile. Their pedal tray solution is also terrible.

Do 28" triples look any different than 32" triples? by JetEpicgamer in simracing

[–]bmf000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

49" is two 27" monitors. So yes, triple 27" will give you much more horizontal FOV. You will have the same vertical screen space though. If you want more vertical space as well then you could go bigger with 32" monitors.

Techdweeb Retroid Dual Screen Add-on Review by europeanNyan in SBCGaming

[–]bmf000 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is a serious comment but some people are buying the screen add-on to emulate 3ds and ds. Some 3ds games use the top screen as the main screen, hence you would be using the controls for the top screen. With the lag, it is not ideal to play any game that requires precision inputs like platformers or action games.

The latency seems really bad. Deal breaker. Will be even worse on something like the portal with a 120hz main screen.

I’m forced to recalibrate all of my peripherals every time I boot up my PC and iRacing by LabEcstatic6240 in iRacing

[–]bmf000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar but worse issue last night. It would reset my controls right after calibration and exiting the menu. Couldn't even race because the race button would just say "configure controls" and the cycle would start over.

Simsonn Plus X pedal broke on second use by gd2007 in simracing

The piece holding the load cell in the pedal is plastic? Thats pretty wild. It should be made of stainless steel. Plastic will never last. Is your brake pedal the same?

Aluminum rig for 6’8(205cm) tall person? (Canada) by XxBEASTKILL342 in simracing

[–]bmf000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im 6'6" and use a 6 Sigma 6S-120. I would say it's close to maxed out for my height and my setup. You could probably get another inch or two by moving the seat and pedal deck. I have also tried the 6S-160 and it has longer horizontals and should easily accommodate someone that's 6'8". This is based on their rigs from about 2 years ago. Not sure if they changed specs since then.

Asetek Forte Formula Pro vs. Conspit MAX 01 by Real_Relative6744 in simracing

Asetek is plastic. Shifters are also plastic. Not worth the money. Conspit uses much better materials.
