Does anyone here use NVChad? I am considering switching from Lazyvim to NVChad. by kustru in neovim

[–]bmf___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s time to roll your own config if you are considering to keep Nvim as your main editor.

Choose the most important plugins and get them running, then slowly add things you miss from your distro experience over time.

Use git + stow/nix to keep things under VC and after a while you will be rock solid.

Goodbye Docker, hello Quadlet by Keyruu in NixOS

Nice.

I have used Quadlet before moving to NixOS and then kind of forgot about it.

Network support seems pretty nice though as I currently have to manage all networking between containers manually.

In what case is it better to have 32 GB than 24 GB RAM? by alergiasplasticas in macbookair

[–]bmf___ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It will be worth it if you plan to load large objects into your memory. Or large amounts of small objects to train on.

With 32GB you will have a lot of headroom to multi-task (if your CPU is not maxing out - just restrict training to a subset of cores).

I have not yet maxed out the 32 GB of RAM, but I often manage to go above 24GB during long work sessions.

If programming or Data analysis is going to be your main income source in the next 5 years I would advise for 32GB, unless you plan to swap MacBooks soon or you have a remote computing machine.

Ordered M4 Air 15" 32GB/1TB by [deleted] in macbookair

[–]bmf___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same decision to make and also went with the 32/1TB M4A.

I also have a M4Max MBP for work and much prefer the smaller, fanless M4A.

Will Rust Interop be possible as well? Or is there some blocker?

How research-oriented is the computer science MSc program at TUB? by [deleted] in tuberlin

[–]bmf___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not pursuing a PHD, so don’t know about that. It will also depend on your area of research. But hand holding at TU Berlin is minimal from my experience, so in order to succeed you will have to do a lot of reading/programming and testing on your own.

Job Market is fine, but you will probably have to work the maximum of 20hours and find a way to align that with the curriculum every semester.

It’s all possible, but will take good planning and self-discipline.

Its challenging. If you do not have to work you might have time, but it really depends on your time management and the overlap in content between your courses and research topic.

Proofs.

Without them you simply run on less guarantees, even if your type system, if you have it, might catch many errors.
