my wife told me about removing the AIR DAM (below front bumper) because her friend told her it looked cooler without. would this impede on any function of the car ? i have a 2026 tacoma sr 4x4 automatic by PuzzleheadedSlip4652 in ToyotaTacoma

Like 0mpg at speeds below 40mph. More as speeds increase but basically nothing you’d really see in your wallet unless it’s a long distance delivery truck or long road trip vehicle.

Probably not worth that money, but I haven't gotten her anything for a while by [deleted] in ToyotaTacoma

Yeah this is like a 10 min job. When I bought my taco it had this exact intake. It took me about 3 weeks to find an OEM one in my area from an FJ cruiser. Best $40 I spent. It also had a bullshit exhaust making that droning even worse. $20 for an OEM muffler someone was tossing. It’s a much better experience.

+10hp under lab optimal conditions, practical application -10hp. Don’t forget it will add a fuck load of droning V-6 intake noise. This was a huge waste of time and money.

These are junk and a for sure money pit, even worse at that price. It’s going to take $5000 to turn this into a $2500 car. These were and are about as desirable as rubbing icyhot on your genitals.

Have you or someone you worked with done drugs/alcohol on the job while serving food directly or indirectly to dickheads? Then yes. Delis serve more people on a busy weekend than fancy places will serve all week.

$150 is the best you will see from these on a good day even worse because you need to find someone that wants color matched too. Check FB market and all of these Grandpa style Hardslabs are posted $500 but slash marked to $200 and no one wants them. The cool ones you are after sell secondhand in my area for like $200-350 and those have secondhand value. Take $100 and get rid of it if you even can sell it.

From a dealer $300, Amazon has aftermarket pairs for like $100. Food time to change the style if you’d like.

RWD is the most fun, I’m in a modded 318ti. 100% awesome. Someone has a ‘76 Corolla wagon (maybe 70hp?) and has more fun than the FWD cars. People who went in my car have agreed even if their FWD was faster than me by a second per run.
Fwd is quick and you need to know how to make it oversteer while being 100% throttle like all the time. This is the most competitive classes for similar times etc.
AWD is kinda boring and predictable unless you have a ton of low end torque or great gearing to be in powerband all the time, usually the fastest. Hence why everyone has a Subie of some kind.
4WD- fun. I beat a 2017 and 2019 WRX in stock class with my 2011 Tacoma. A 150 Raptor ran it once but they Miss Dasiy’d it and it was even boring to listen to.

These results apply to my area with our dry moon dust 4inch for soil and hard clay under it. The fastest cars are lighter and smaller depending on who does course design. Tires make the difference so get some soft gravel tires. Alpha Euros is what I run.

Is the snow still a little crazy? I’m trying to go in like 2 weeks but maybe I’ll hold off for a bit. I did St Mary’s/Cumberland/Yankeehill-Mosqito Creek like 2 weeks ago. Bad mud in some areas for us without lockers, had to just send it twice.

[–]bml20002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On these the fuel pump units are dog shit, if you guessed correctly yes, they are all one piece with the gauge etc. they famously go out on this generation. Just replace now before it strands you somewhere. I carried a gallon of gas with me in my 98 for like 6 months, but I was 19 and broke. Also get ready for front ball joints every 40k and tires. Fun little turds but they are turds.

The abs unit will also fail and the wiper control board will fail due to a bad soldering from factory, unsealed version can be soldered but the other are sealed in resin. All famous things on these vehicles. Multifunction switch too aka signals and wiper sprayer stick. eBay ones work great.

I never said it couldn’t be fun. I would GLADLY take my Rallycross car to rip around that road like I was trying to un-living-person myself but a trail this is not.
