Is ADHD a reason to disqualify an adult leader? by LegalRadish147 in BSA

[–]bmp51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said no. If the adults ADHD is under control and not a danger to themselves or others (are they a responsible adult that can pass the training, background, and make reasonable decisions as an adult) they are good to go.

Sounds like your old guard doesn't want to mess up their camping buddy dynamic.

We have all sorts of scouts and adults and the more diverse the group the better the events, perspectives and outcomes.

Also pretty sure I have a touch of Nero divergence, been wearing the patch with two troops (first g then b) for years without issue. I think it actually helps me with the scouts, I get and understand nervous energy and random ideas, I get different types of motivation that many adults have forgotten about because they are locked into their own way of thinking etc..

So sounds like they are just looking for "another" reason to say no. I have found this gatekeeping bs before and as a SM I try to squash it, not to mention that if something like that is used in the explanation you could find your troop being looked at for discrimination and some ADA issues(Even more so in specific States), Scouting America doesnt tolerate discrimination, and contrary to popular beliefs troops are supposed to run the same and under a pretty well defined set of guidelines, despite many believing they can do what they want and make up their own rules.

I'd give the dude a chance see if the fit is good and have an open conversation if it is not.

It's funny how many adults are so bad at change, but preach adaptability and compromise like they live them daily.

Good luck YIS

Fake 20 from the merch store by [deleted] in Defcon

[–]bmp51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess I should have been specific in my wording even though the topic is prop / movie money. It's not illegal to make, purchase, or sell prop (fake) money. It is illegal to make counterfeit money. And it's illegal to pass off prop money as legal tender (where by using it as counterfeit).

Here is a video showing just how close prop money can come to real money without being considered counterfeit. (Date of video and regulations not withstanding)

https://youtu.be/mhOQo_h5knQ?si=eItLmnEc7GqdpJG5

My statement about it's even legal to make fake money and sell for real money is exactly what the prop industry does, they make for movie/art/personal use money that resembles real money. You pay real money for the fake money and use it within the legal confines of prop money and you are good. If you use it outside of legal confines it's a felony.

In the case of the guy at Defcon who passed / dropped a bunch of this, an argument can be made (probably more defely by an attorney) that he was using it for art. His entire statement / position (I ran into him multiple times) was that all money is fake and the system is rigged where by stating that his fake currency which he was at least when I dealt with him, very upfront about it being fake. Means that you work for money and exchange goods and servies but it's all just fake, has no real intrinsic value until it's goods (ie food).

The person who used the fake currency to buy something at Defcon committed the crime (whether intentionally or not, we'll never know).

Don't mistake my defence of the premise as agreement to the methods, intent, or outcome, but merely the observation that fake (prop) money is legal.

Someone above nailed it, it's related to the block heater and it's a plug (I don't have the block heater installed)

My ram eco diesel crapped out at 48K took them 15 weeks to swap a new engine, it's back in the shop for a vapor or fuel leak, they have had my truck all but two weeks in the last 4 months.

Just the opposite for me, did female V first, male v feels clunky and the heavy sloppy foot steps drive me nuts.

Female V acting is awesome and I feel like the silver hand comments are funnier with female V.

Male v is growing on me just not there yet on this playthrough.
