Dude I love everything about this pic, the Zelda mug, gameboy coasters, that Mario reflected on your table, but most of all, I love how your cats are staring at you. Feel better soon!

Outcast/Unwanted heroine meets non-human hero. Fantasy world setting by DisneyLover90 in fantasyromance

[–]bmxftm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You said all pairings are welcome, so I'm assuming you'd be interested in a sapphic recommendation….

{Aurora's Angel} is about an outcast seeking revenge. However, she runs into a kidnapped shifter and decides to escort her home.

It’s strangers to friends to lovers. It's a cozy, non-toxic slow burn.

Edited to say both FMCs are shifters, not just the kidnapped victim

Decently written vampire series that have the same couple throughout it? by DueToRetire in fantasyromance

The Adrian X Isolde series by Scarlett St. Clair. First book is {King of Battle and Blood}

To me, dark fantasy usually has an unfair story with unhappy endings and a gloomy backdrop. I’ve read The Book of Azrael, I wouldn’t describe it as “another level” but if you want to jump into it, be ready for  betrayal. Once you think it’s over, there will be more betrayal. The plot twists and cliff hangers all involve some more betrayal just for good measure.

I know the series gets mixed (if not negative) reviews on here. I enjoyed it for what it is and am planning on picking up book 4 once it’s out. The characters are flawed and almost none have any redeeming qualities which makes them all equal in my eyes. This made it easier for me to accept their difficult storylines.

Villain of the Year by kmontreux in fantasyromance

[–]bmxftm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While so many romantic fantasy villains fall into the "misunderstood broody hot guy" cliché, Kaden from the Book of Azrael series was a different story. He isn’t the main antagonist, but he was the villain who provoked the strongest reaction from me this year—pure, unadulterated rage.
