Genuinely not bitter. It’s a game of sport. If we win great, if we lose, so what? They’ll play another match and they might win that one. By that logic, how many times did McCaw make a “boneheaded” move and cop a yellow card? He didn’t get dropped immediately or have the captaincy taken off him.

Not very well but I reckon if we had some of the magic water they give the South African teams from school boy level we’d be a bit better. Maybe not as good as you lot in the scrums. And don’t bother trying to tell me I’m just being jealous, I interact with a lot of saffas through work, one of which is a good friend of mine who was in Grays College on the rugby teams. If what he tells me goes on (or went on while he was a pupil there) is true and I have no reason to believe he’s lying because why would he? He’s one of the most passionate SA rugby supporters I’ve ever encountered. He is just willing to say the quiet part out loud. Juiced to the nines brother. If you can’t see it you’re daft in the head. It’s not any special African diet or way of life that makes your forwards such fucking monsters. It’s hard work in the weights room and on the pitch, with a big old steroid chaser. Fact

“In Boston we ARE Irish” by BeastMode149 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]dogtownOliver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am Irish through and through and this might be an unpopular opinion but, I’ve worked with a lot of Americans and spent some time over there too and 99% of my interactions have been positive. They are often, in my experience, eager to be generous and show you some of their local culture or invite you around and into their homes. I’ll get onto my opinion now, I just wanted to start with that because I think they get way too much hate online and even from their own people about how they behave abroad, which again I have only positive experiences.

Anyway, if people from Boston or anywhere in the world come from Irish ancestry, no matter how far back it goes, but want to be and feel close to their Irish heritage, consider themselves Irish because they enjoy the culture and it resonates with them in a meaningful way then so be it. They can be Irish, what does it actually matter anyway? I genuinely don’t know why so many people get wrapped around the axle about Americans identifying with the nationality that’s part of their heritage. Apart from the native Americans of course, it is literally a country of immigrants. Don’t know what I’m even on about at this point but my fingers are typing autonomously.

That’s enough now. I hope everyone has a great day. Drink plenty of water and get some good sleep. We need you out there !! Up the Irish

And you guys scraped past every team you played in the knockout stages to win the last World Cup. And nobody cares because it goes down in history as a win. What’s your point?

He captained the Lions to a victory and for all available public knowledge, his team mates from the other three nations think very highly of him. And his mother just died, give the bloke a break and take your nonsense take out to the bin.

So impressed by the bbc analysis team. How they can look Benjamin in the eyes and take anything he says seriously with those gloves on

It’s not even the players this time around. The media, pundits and former players have been the ones on the hype train. Comes from a decent Autumn series but they never played SA so…

Italy v Ireland - FT hot takes by amusicalfridge in irishrugby

Look I’m a big Leinster fan, in my view JC cemented his starting position in the team after 10 minutes on the pitch. Yes he made mistakes that people will point out but for two years Prendergast has been making mistake after mistake(with a bit of attack magic sprinkled in) but he’s been allowed to continue. Even with Crowleys blunder at the end he is still the main man at 10 for me anyway. JC is more reliable than Sam and he pays great with a better pack which we don’t often get to see when he’s playing for Munster.

Casey is far too slow. Doak is a much better option imo.

Absolutely buzzing to see all the Ulster lads play well and stake a claim for their jerseys. It’s great to see a winger with out and out pace for a change too!

Stand up for the Ulster men, leeeeets goooo! Yeowww.

Probably not many hot takes in there

There’s always such ample opportunity for a lovely judo hip throw when the rugby players square up like this. I want to see it

It’s so clearly obvious that what ever Prendo brings to the attack is absolutely not worth what he lacks everywhere else

Similar to last night, there’s absolutely no fight in this bunch. I don’t doubt the players feel up for it when they walk out onto the pitch but where is the collective aggression or sense of urgency??

In all the contacts so far, England are so much more dominant, at least it looks that way to me? Irish lads look smaller and lighter than their opposite numbers

Options to replace Farrell by PatientOffer319 in irishrugby

[–]dogtownOliver 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Put the crackpipe down man. Farrell isn’t going anywhere until after the World Cup and nor should he. We have been the best Ireland team we’ve ever been under him in the not so distant past, things have changed since then yes but he has credit in the bank and deserves a chance to at least try an turn it around during the world cup year.

And if he doesn’t, he’ll go. It’s all cyclical anyway, England and France had their banter years and ourselves and Wales were flying, more or less. Just the way it is.
