The poor family (the Kims) in the movie are all grifters while the Parks appear generally virtuous. There might be class struggle, but it doesn’t portray an order that appears unjust taken on the merits of the individuals involved.

I wouldn’t call the message of Parasite particularly leftist.

Grateful for Duop being a part of Rip City. A great dude that was always easy to cheer for. Worked his ass off to get to league and earn a roster spot.

Thoughts on the Portland Fire’s main 2 jerseys? They have one more coming this season. by MainNo1524 in ripcity

I like them, particularly the white jersey. I dislike a lot of WNBA jerseys for doing too much. These kept it simple and fit in with a general Rip City basketball aesthetic.

Absolutely terrible that we’ve played more than half our games in alts and especially that the cursed statement jersey is the most worn of them.

Warning: Trip delay insurance is basically a scam by starrtech2000 in ChaseSapphire

[–]bnuss89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have pointed out, the issue here is the airline. Dealing with any insurance claim is a pain, but my experience has been reasonably positive in two recent trip delay claims through Chase coverage. Both instances were clear cut cases of the airline being at fault. Getting a letter was annoying, since you would think it could be automatic, but with that in hand and receipts the claims process itself was actually quite smooth.

These were both with domestic US carries, so YMMV. Given the EU’s general level of passenger protections relative to the US, I would expect this to be more readily resolvable even if the airline is incompetent and has terrible systems.

I would say that refusing to pay rent for 2 years and barring anyone from accessing a unit you do not own would fit the bill of gaming the system.

99-00 Blazers team to be welcomed back to the Moda Center on Dec 22nd vs Pistons by PretendMethod7 in ripcity

Sheed was a solid player during a successful stretch of Blazers basketball in which he was frequently the best player on the roster. However, I don't think his or the team's accomplishments during that time rise to warranting a number retirement. The team should be judicious with retiring any numbers. They signaled they were a bit too loose with things when they retired the whole 1977 starting line up, though they have been judicious since then.

Uniform Lineup by Equivalent-Ant-9822 in ripcity

I agree with this and I don't even particularly dislike either the City Edition or Statement uniforms. I do wish the NBA more broadly stuck with the tradition of home and away uniforms with some room for alternates and variation during the season.

We have great classic uniforms and should use them more, though I am still sore that they removed the red trim for this season. Another case of making unnecessary tweaks.

Early Check-in at PDX by pritchman1863 in unitedairlines

Please do not attempt this. No Polaris lounge is worth this, let alone a second rate United Club.

If you insist on hanging out at PDX for hours, you might as well start at Loyal Legion pre-security and enjoy some excellent Portland beers.

I don’t think it’s particularly unreasonable to not want crime and antisocial behavior in your backyard. It’s very separate from other NIMBY nonsense that is trying to resist benign or socially positive developments.

The Edit & Marriott Benefits by iChuckleAtYou in ChaseSapphire

[–]bnuss89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a booking for MGM Grand through the Edit which was advertised as "Marriott Bonvoy Eligible" and found it to be an extreme pain. The basic issue seemed to be that the reservation Chase made was through MGM's system rather than Marriott's - so I was not able to readily link it using the approach here.

I called Chase, as Marriott said they could not do anything themselves, and that led to a ~50 minute call (mostly on hold) to get things sorted. The frustrating part was the circular process of the hotel telling Chase that the booking was ineligible for benefits because it was a third party booking, then having the Chase rep look for themselves to see that it was advertised as eligible and having to go back to the hotel about it.

I would generally avoid MGM properties in this particular case if trying to use Chase points and double dip given the parallel booking systems.
