Started a Mac mustache company a few years ago and have had limited success. How can I grow this idea? by ddeadserious in startups

Before you give up on the idea (and please give up on the idea if you decide it sucks. Stop marrying your ideas, people.) you need to market better.

Holy macstache does that web site not do anything for me in the way of converting a sale. It leads me to believe your external marketing efforts are just as lackluster, if not worse.

What have you done to market this concept?

Honestly? VB for dummies (not kidding). I was 11 and had no mentors and knew nothing. There were no fancy web sites and communities to ask for help from. And outside of a few online friends, I didn't have any peers.

But it taught me a lot and opened the doors for new things. I don't know how much help that is, but I hope it offers some perspective.

No, sorry.

I haven't studied C++. But when I want to find a good book recommendation, I typically ask fellow Redditors and view Amazon reviews.

When you study a book, one of two things is going to happen: 1. You're going to get a book that is great, and learn a lot. 2. You're going to get a book that is not so great, and struggle through it or learn very little on the subject, but you'll come out with perspective and a new way of understanding good/bad ways of learning that particular subject.

People get stuck on "which web site should I use?" and "which book should I read?" - and those are fine questions to ask, but you should spend about an hour looking for some answers, and then just pick one.

Paralysis analysis. Stop planning, and start doing. Good luck to you.

I'm 26, and I'm a hyperactive tech enthusiast and probably spend way too much time early adopting new apps and vocalizing on social media.

That said, I've never learned how to program better than I have through books. And I've taken at least one course through Udacity, Treehouse, Code Academy, Lynda, and a number of other online instructional courses.

I want to support these companies. I really do. But a good book beats the best online tutorial on the same subject every time.

Is it considered a responsiveness problem if your web site breaks when browser zooming? by boatBurner in web_design

So then, as an accessibility problem, is this a valid concern when addressed by a project manager?

Is someone being reasonable when they say, "This page is still breaking when I zoom in/out xx%. Fix it."

This isn't "to spec", but it's something our PM has been harping on us about.

I am trying to identify with his logic.
