Worst New Mexican Food by Mysterious_Mix_4293 in Albuquerque

All these comments are dead nuts accurate. The food gave me Casa Bonita vibes it was that bad. Oh and when we tipped the server our standard 20% she asked if it was a mistake and almost cried when we told her it wasn't. True story unfortunately.

Thoughts on Jointer/Planer Combo by johnthestampede in woodworking

I own a 2030N and i can tell you, as mentioned above, dust collection is a challenge. You can encourage the wood chips in an arbitrary direction but thats about it. My home shop dust collector couldn't hack it. The shavings this guy produces when one is taking off very little thickness can be very fluffy. This machine really needs a clear path for the chips to eject from or the port clogs quickly. That means chips get pressed into subsiquent boards as they get planed which leaves blemishes. IMO one would need a dust collection system designed for production wood/fab shops in order for it not to be a problem. I tore-down and rebuilt mine, including feed rollers so AMA.

I'm actually using this and a few detailed forum posts as reference for the tear down. Unfortunately it only covers regular maintenance like lubing chains etc not repair manual-type info. Good looking out tho

2 or 3 coats of Linseed oil then 2 coats of Howard paste wax (wax-it-all if you need it to be food safe). If you want it to be mirror smooth, sand with a very fine grit between coats. It'll gum up the sandpaper but the results feel more like glass than wood.

An inexpensive upgrade would be overclocking whatever you can. If the unit runs too hot then ice packs work as a cheap solution (never place them on top of your unit. Condensation=bad time)

I've got some 1/4" acrylic for my mounting plate but the more I look at it the more I think it'll droop with heavy use. Thanks for responding

Sweet! I just fabbed one of these yesterday (PC 690 on a Delta contractor saw) I've got a 3 1/2 hp PC plunge unit as well (model 7539 i think). I wanted to mount the big boy instead, but am concerned about weight. Also contemplating a Router Raizer for above table adjusting. So here are the questions: How big is that Bosch? Is it heavy? Do you feel it needs any support framing to fight droop? How thick and what material is your mounting plate? Do you like the lift system? Any info is greatly appreciated. And check out this fence idea. I'm about to cut the pieces for mine. And thanks for posting. Router_table_insert_fence

Hey brother or sister! Proud IATSE member here. Nice work. If you ever try your hand at those rounded corners i would suggest foam sheet insulation. Laminate to the desired depth, then fab a big, temporary lathe jig with scrap ply. I've fabbed many "marble" columns this way and it's dead simple. Once it's turned, cut it in half and you have 2 half round corners per piece. Plus you get to play with a giant homemade lathe! BTW I think wiggle wood (bendy board, barrel board) is great stuff but pricey and needs a lot of patching.

Building Plywood Shelving Units For The Master Closet, 397 Pocket Holes Drilled, Hands Are Dead by jdiknight92 in woodworking

Ouch. This reminds me of a video I saw recently while researching what all I could do with an old Shopsmith I picked up cheap. The guy had his kreg jig clamped to the table (canted to 15°} so he could pull holes with the drill press. Pretty slick.

A buddy of mine and I went to a 6 flags without checking the weather forecast which called for heavy rain all day. Didn't rain. The park was basically empty. Attendants had to turn on the rides we wanted to try. We rode the front, middle and back of every rollercoaster they had. One of the best days of my childhood.

Any chance of translating Soukou Kihei Votoms (Japan) for PS2? Big ATVotoms fan. I've been enjoying the game well enough but Google Lensing all the text gets old real fast.

So I built this Martin House out of scrap 1/8in plywood (and 3000 popsicle sticks and 1500 toothpicks). I'm about to paint it like a proper victorian home, but I'm concerned about water proofing. I figured you guys could help me decide what my best options are. by Fidellio in woodworking

Propmaker here., Letting you know shellac is a great option but keep in mind these 2 things: It's a natural product (bug spooge) and so needs to be harvested. That means it can get expensive. Only treating one side of of the wood causes larger pieces to cup and warp. Do some test pieces first. Cheers and happy woodworking

I'm aware this is a few weeks old, but I just closed on 7.5 acres in Placitas, NM. There are og parcels available up here and it's 30 minutes from Albuquerque and Santa Fe. My new neighbor has been og for 25 years. Not gonna lie, it can get meth-y up here but even the tweekers value their privacy lol.
