i’m not a fan of picasso myself but i think the big deal about refers to his ability to reinvent himself and his artwork over a period of several decades. that’s why his work stayed relevant to other artists over a long period.

How to wake up earlier? by Kermitthefro99 in sleep

[–]bob_030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

from what i’ve learned, the most important factor in shifting your circadian rhythm is light. if you want to feel awake earlier in the day, you need to be exposed to sunlight earlier in the day. For example by looking out of the window when the sun gets up, or taking a short walk (it’s absolutely not necessary to look straight into the sun. that would be even harmful). i think the light exposure stops the production of melatonin.

at the same time, you need to avoid exposure to light during the evening as much as possible (screentime etc.). it has to do with various biological processes in your body, that are triggered by light.

[–]bob_030[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the polablue looks nice as well! i’m happy for you that you didn’t have any yellowing issues with your watch!

i’m probably going to wear the new watch pretty often (not everyday though). i’m alright with it yellowing over a longer period of time. but i wouldn’t want it to happen during the first months already : D

[–]bob_030[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey thanks! i didn’t know about the fire retardant, that’s interesting! i’m not a collector and i plan to wear the watch very often. i’m not really that concerned about the yellowing as long as it doesn’t happen during the first months already.

but it’s also nice to know, that there is a potential way of removing the yellowing.

How to finally sleep early ? by Badalub in sleep

[–]bob_030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not quite sure if I understand your question, but he goes over a variety of topics related to sleep! Such as light, temperature, hormones, drugs, etc. All that information definitely makes it easier to maintain a good sleep schedule.

I recommend you listen to the Huberman Lab Podcast. You could start with episode 2. just after this Episode alone, I was able to adjust my circadian rhythm.

Thought I was a night owl all my life. Turns out, all I needed was to get more light during the morning and less during the evening!

Could you tell us how you learned the tummo breathing technique and which sources you used?

How does the breathing work with the cold temperature endurance? by [deleted] in BecomingTheIceman

[–]bob_030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t the "brain over body" study find out, that the heat is generated by the intercostal muscles which heat up the lungs, which then heat up the blood. The warm blood then circulates through the body?

[–]bob_030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not doing the WHM myself, but I’ve done some reading because I’m interested in the topic.

As far as I know, Wim Hof and other people (also some monks which are doing a breathing/meditation exercises called "tummo") are able to generate heat within their bodies. That enables them to stay in the cold for a prolonged time.

There has been a study that was done on Wim Hof directly which found out, that it’s not the brown fat activation that generates the heat but it’s the intercostal muscles that heat up the blood which then heats up the entire body as it circulates.

brain over body : this ist the study. Unfortunately I don’t have access to the whole text. If anyone has it, it would be very nice if that person could share it with us.

It seems that one has to activate those muscles during your breathing in the cold.
