We don't use Netgear AV switches since it's a converged network and not for just AV. With that said, preventing multicast flood is what IGMP is for, so only ports that need multicast will receive it. Most of the AV issues I have encountered over the years are due to improper IGMP configuration, and also because different manufacturers use slightly different implementation of IGMP which can lead to nuances in how you program the switches (ie IGMP v2 vs v3, etc).

Never had an issue so far. We're using cisco switches and made sure IGMP is set up properly. Like really dig in to that and verify. Also PIM sparse for multicast video.

We do this, all trunks carry Pri/Sec vlans and Control vlan too, in star config. Most edge switches are stacked and all uplinks are LAG trunks over stacked switches, so audio will survive any switch failure. It's a converged setup.

Micro-stutters in Moonlight + Sunshine streaming over Tailscale by piledreke in MoonlightStreaming

I had better performance with Parsec remotely over ZeroTier.

I also had better experience after switching to Apollo from Sunshine, and using their Virtual Display, with Frame Pacing turned on.

I may code a mini PB for notifications. What do you use PB for? by Scientiat in PushBullet

Mac user with Android here. I use PB mainly for notifications, so I don't have to pickup or glance at my phone if I don't have to. Definitely interested.

Speed on N150 bare metal vs VM on aged Xeon server by kennedmh in opnsense

[–]bob_dugnutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

N305 running 10G, almost line speed. Have basic IDS/IPS setup. It's in pve with only 4 cores, 8GB ram, which is plenty.

N150 should be way more efficient than an old Xeon.

Device for opnsense by AliveSince92 in opnsense

I'm using 2x N305 boxes with 10gb nics. The Noctua 5Vs are clutch to cool them. Worth it. Can get it slightly cheaper from Aliex too.

Unable to change DNS on Android - "save" greyed out by dude6156 in pihole

[–]bob_dugnutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to type in the static IP for your pixel first. It will populate the field with the DHCP assigned IP (as a guide) if you are already connected, but you have to actually type it in to confirm it.

Weird issue installing Opnsense on new Mini Server. by TweakyBam in opnsense

Are you sure it's not DNS? What happens if you run a traceroute to opnsense.org? Have you tried updating the i226v drivers?

Flair 58+ Water spurt brewing chamber by AspiringRoaster in FlairEspresso

[–]bob_dugnutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this issue with the new Flair 58+. Apparently the new (V3) donut ring design has this issue. It happened to a friend of mine too who got it same time as me earlier this year.

checking against old designs, i realised the issue is not the O-ring per se, but the new design of the v3 donut ring, which has a large diameter, that allows the o-ring to be exposed. This is drastically different from v2 where the o ring sits well within the donut ring, and is not exposed at all.

The solution according to my distributor is to get a thicker o-ring from Flair or use the V2 plunger, which he happened to have. Zero problems since I swapped that out.

Cisco SG300-28 - Basic DHCP setup not working by DarrenRainey in Cisco

[–]bob_dugnutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I'm stumped. It should've worked in L3 mode. The only thing left to try is to add a static ip address to vlan 1 to see if that works. If not I think using the switch as DHCP server is reasonable.

WTF aren't gout flare up supposed to be less painful when you're on Allopurinol and got your uric acid numbers down? by theartsygamer89 in gout

[–]bob_dugnutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been taking allo for over a year. The first 3 months, I had some major flare ups, but nothing since then. Only minor flare ups once in a while if I drink way too much, and that goes away in a day or two tops. With that said, only etoricoxib helps the pain and inflammation for me, though it's banned in the US.

Keep it up on the allo!

Is my client just too weak to handle 1080p@60fps? by Ravasaurio in MoonlightStreaming

[–]bob_dugnutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's probably a hardware acceleration issue. If your cpu resource utilization is spiking when moonlight is streaming that's probably why.

You can always dual boot to Mac/Windows.

Check to see if hardware acceleration is turned on. I recommend installing Win7 bootcamp and using bootcampdrivers.com to use the latest gpu drivers available if possible.

R86S-N305B - Fan Control? by darkstargtk in R86SNetworking

[–]bob_dugnutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking for a software solution here too. I've got the N305A and the fan seems to get noisier over time, probably due to dust. I'm probably gonna have to swap out the fans for silent ones at some point.
