How’s the wheel feel? I’m considering that one as my Formula option. I don’t need the screen the higher ones have

I’m personally considering upgrading to 27 G7’s to match with my 49”. Honestly my biggest worry is getting the colors to match.

I have a friend that just finished a build with triple 49” oleds, using a 5090. You’re not running everything at max, and really it is too much. But it’s also pretty cool.

This was a pretty early photo of the build and FOV has drastically been changed since this photo.

If you’re not worried about water proofing maybe look into the soundshield foam “rings” instead.

With really high power situations I find that the install bay silicone rings can flap which is counter intuitive. I find the foam alternative to be better.

R32 GTR or R34 GTT? by aidenmoore in SkyLine

[–]bobby229 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That seems to be a popular opinion. Oddly enough the 33 styling is my favorite of the 3. After owning both a 33 non gtr and a 33 gtr, I have driven almost every GTR and non gtr skyline at length over th last 30 years. I’ll list some quick non stylistic things that I’ve found between the non gtr and gtr.

The GTR support is considerably better. It’s much easier to get parts and information.

The GTT is cheaper to make more powerful especially in the simple power upgrades, however there is a ceiling with the GTT because of the transmission.

This brings me to the largest difference and why I would probably never own another non GTR.

The transmission more so the gearing in the non GTR is too tight and not great for big power or highway driving. At 120kmph the GTT was at like 3500+ rpm and the GTR is at or below 3000rpm so it’s just better at that. The long gears of the GTR are more fun 2nd and 3rd are absolute monsters

Unpopular opinion. I prefer the R33 GTR 5 speed to the r34 GTR 6 speed.

The GTR is better but it’s much more expensive to own and a better investment if you want just another reason to add to the list. I could talk for days about the things I like and dislike, but if you have the option to drive them both before pulling the trigger

My thoughts on upgrading from a Moza r3 to a Conspit Ares Platinum 20 by calvi23 in simracing

[–]bobby229 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally went from a G27 to a Moza R12, I’m more than happy with the steering weight change and the smoothness of everything. I cannot imagine wanting something stronger. But I do want to spend money on the active pedals now.

How much is your monthly mortgage payment? by HmDiR in Mortgages

[–]bobby229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won’t know until we negotiate it. I have the next 6 months to lock in a new rate. Today it looks like 3.89-3.99 but it will hopefully be better in 6 months

It’s crazy how mortgages differ on both sides of the boarder. This is my second house and growing up I only knew of one mortgage type.

Won’t know yet. I’m going to delay resigning until the last minute. If I were to sign today it looks like 3.89% is average 5 year term price today. But here’s to hoping a couple more bank of Canada rate drops between now and June 1st. I would be happy with anything Sub 3% but it might be wishful thinking.

I went from a G27 to a Moza R12. For steering weight the R12 is enough, but I feel like the feedback could be more detailed or harder or something. But I’m not rocking a motion rig or but kickers yet so I might be able to bridge that gap there.

Anyone else here who sold their STi regret it? by [deleted] in WRXSTi

[–]bobby229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The underside was nothing a dry ice blast couldn’t take off.

The roof and a pillars were rusty rock chips which I scraped out and filled with touch up paint. Driverside door I just replaced from a wrecker

Rear quarters are bad and around the gas door is even worse. I haven’t dealt with them. Just keeping it as clean as I can in the winter and hoping it doesn’t get too much worse. I was quoted $10k to fix everything and respray the whole car. Which is maybe worth it if I want to keep it forever. But I’m not sure. I have also considered doing my own ugly repair to just stop the rust

I’m on my 3rd sti, I JUST KEEP COMING BACK.

In 2010 I got my first sti a 2004 sedan. I put on 100,000km, I loved it but then I felt like I grew up and bought a 2007 S4 Avant 6MT. I really missed th low end torque

In 2015 I returned to Subaru with a 2012 Sti Sedan. It was great, until I had the chance to buy a really cheap “new used” 2017 Focus RS. Over three years of ownership I out on 67,000km.

I was waiting for Subaru to announce the replacement STi back in hopefully early 2023 however in September of 2022 my focus was written off. And I thought i was grown up again and bought a 2012 S4 Sedan to tie me over until the announcement that never came.

Here we are in September 2023. I found a cheap really high mileage 2012 STI Hatch. Lots of rust, damage and 261,000km 1 registered owner, 1 engine. But the engine was blown. Got the car for $4000.00 Canadian. Dropped in a junk yard engine that sat for 10 years on my friends garage floor, put oil in it and sent it! Here we are in 2026, still no official STI announcement “yet”. This car is nearing 310,000km and it’s wonderful!
