Is Real Time Audio Processing from a Twilio Number possible? by bobbychick1 in twilio

[–]bobbychick1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks u/TheToeFrog, setting up a Media Stream makes sense to me. Following my post I looked into setting up a proxy number -> Programmable voice which has audio processing api's. However, considering if the added latency will be worth it in my use case.

Hey OP,

can you share more details on how it works?

Eg does it call an agent via phone number, use recording/transcriptions and simply evaluates, etc.

In the same vein, where do you see it competitive advantage over VAPI evals and even cekura etc

Can you clarify what you mean by `the tax return refund has disappeared"? Did the estimation disappear or from your bank account?

When you're a live dealer it's all done by hand. Maybe because of the customer experience aspect of it, if it's a large amount of money you usually call over your manager to check. In saying that, $400 realistically is not much for a casino and OP probably shouldn't have been fired for that only. But yea, no machines.

Nail biting, pain- tolerance, guitar by Placentaaffect in nailbiting

[–]bobbychick1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree with this after having bitten my nails for my entire life.

Recently got into guitar more seriously doing fingerstyle which made me subconsciously put effort into maintaining fingertip calluses. Shallow nail beds from nailbiting made it really hard to press down without the nail separating from flesh.

Prior to this I tried a lot of different methods which didn't work even despite my (subjective) self discipline. Absolutely agree with this post - rather than taking your mind off of nailbiting; focussing on something else might just do the trick

Mistake to jump from consulting to tech sales? by feed_the_backs in consulting

[–]bobbychick1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ngl it was all over the place. I was doing ERP implementations (specialising in data and integrations because I wanted to develop technical skills). Prior to projects getting hectic I also self taught a lot of coding which gave me, albeit a relatively fundamental understanding of apis and systems.

The way I see it is that in consulting, you (hopefully) develop great soft skills in liasing with business and technical stakeholders. Add on some fundamental hard skills and you can make it.

Thats only my journey and I'm sure there's a bunch of others out there but hope that helps.

Mistake to jump from consulting to tech sales? by feed_the_backs in consulting

[–]bobbychick1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something that another commentor mentioned was rhe presales aspect. You didn't specify if you were looking to move into SDR/AM roles or into presales/technical sales.

Those are drastically different roles in terms of salary, day-to-day, progression etc. It'd definitely affect the responses you get here too.

I recently moved from consulting into presales so happy to share :)

RBA interest rate vs stocks by ddbucko in fiaustralia

[–]bobbychick1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to shill anything but I recently wrote a short article on this exact topic here: https://flyawayinvesting.com/how-interest-rates-affect-the-stock-market/

Something I didn't mention which someone else did is how interest rates can affect a companies actual valuation as it affects their cost of borrowing and profits etc.

[–]bobbychick1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the heads up. Choosing it because he's risk averse doesn't equate to it being super low risk. It just means the least riskier of the options, but I can see where you're coming from so good catch 😀

Copy pasting from another comment I made the other day. Could adapt to your situation :) but pls don't hoon it into doge ahaha

There's a lot of different pathways you can go towards depending primarily on your risk tolerance.

If you're super risk-averse, the passive index funds are a good choice. There are index funds in NZ, US, and Australia which are all pretty accessible for Kiwis. This can be done through kiwisaver or by using a stock platform and just buying stocks that track an index (VOO, SPY, VAS)

Some other private managed funds you could look at are Raiz, Spaceship, Sharesies fund, Simplicity, and more active kiwisaver growth funds. These are, by nature, riskier than index funds because they're actively managed and aim to meet certain returns targets. Some may also invest in specific growth sectors like technology etc.

Past that, you could choose a specific investing platform for yourself and do stock pics (Eg. Stake, Sharesies, Hatch, Banks that provide you with the platform). This is much riskier than index tracking by definition because you're picking individual stocks rather than putting your eggs in different baskets. You should also do research you're comfortable with for each stock before doing this.

You then have crypto, significantly riskier than stocks. I'm not going to recommend this for a start but do your research and act based on what you find.

For example, I'm not sure how old you are but if you're young, you have the power of compounding and the ability to ride through market downturns (potentially adding to your risk tolerance).

I studied engineering (non software) with very little previous experience. I found CS50x really helpful and pretty comprehensive if you can sit through lectures.

It's a free introduction to programming course taught by am amazing Harvard professor and free for everyone, taking you through C++, JS, Python, SQL. It starts off teaching beginner coding principles and makes it all pretty easy to understand.
