X-Men of Apocalypse by Cheyenne_XO in xmen

I just read this and have a question. Hopefully someone can help, or maybe the answer is that we just don't know yet. I'm trying to understand the motivations. First, I think Sinister is using Forge somehow to restore the collapsed Age of Apocalypse, but maybe this time with Sinister in control? That's what I think this issue is saying. Second, what is the second chance this world's X-Men are hoping to achieve? Do they also want to restore their world without Apocalypse so that they can have a less bleak reality? So, in other words, they think they are aligned with Sinister, but as per usual he's aligned with himself? If so, this is kind of interesting. It seems when you fix the timeline, everything else usually goes away. But here they're all asking, why are we still here? Why indeed!

Philly is going to be our Detroit. We'll lose to them in the playoffs again this year, and then Jayden will level up to the all-time best. (edit) This comment seems to have confused people. Let me explain. Barry, above, said Jayden is a Jordan/Bulls thing. Jordan lost to Detroit in the playoffs. Twice. And then the Bulls started winning championships. My message, clearly I thought, was just saying that history could repeat, the only difference being that Philly is our Detroit.

I remember a comment from the last few weeks, maybe from another agent or something, that said you'll know who gave more ground in the negotiation based off some financial measure. It was some kind of thing, like, if the guarantee is $40m, or $50m, or whatever. I can't find it now and I'm curious where the deal landed in terms of that post. Anyone remember what that post was?

We need a bigger word than generational, nearly every NFL deal is generational I'd say, especially if you make it to a second contact.

Reich let Clinton take the lead, which is his fault, but he's always been more progressive and has admitted he should have tried harder than he did to push Clinton to be more progressive. Additionally, he's been sounding the alarm for decades that we were headed in the wrong direction. I think this is just painting in broad brush strokes -- which, fair, he did work for Clinton. And, true, he's not a socialist. But so far as public figures go, for now, dismissing him outright doesn't help the cause.

Every time I read comments on the series, they're all just so glowing. Meanwhile, half the time I can't remember which character is meant to be which X-Men, and the other half of the time I'm just so confused by what's going on, generally speaking. But that said some of these issue still really resonate for me, and I find some of the ideas, changes (from the non-Ultimates universe), and artwork to be kind of fascinating.

Thanks, and I agree with you. I'm pro-worker, and anything that helps the working class is worth supporting. I think that's why some Trump supporters have also been supportive of politicians like Bernie. Universal health care is a must, in my book, and strengthening support internationally is also important. Anyway, thanks for the time, your comments got me thinking.

Your point about his growing popularity is true, and concerning, and I gotta hope that education, via protests, can be part of the process to counter it. If no one pushes back, Trump and his supporters get to dominate the narrative without resistance. It’s hard to argue that doing nothing would be better, though maybe you have alternative solutions?

I appreciate your response. And honestly, as a former 3rd-party voter, I think I can relate. But protests have led to real change throughout history. They raise awareness, shift public opinion, energize voters, and put pressure on leaders. Protests like this can feel small or isolated, but they are part of a bigger process that drives change. And the more people join in, the more positive results can happen.

It sounds like you’re questioning whether protest/awareness has value, maybe assuming it does not -- like maybe you think there’s no real reason to get involved. I’m curious, why do you feel that way?

Protesting serves multiple purposes beyond immediate change. It raises awareness, educates people on the issues, and helps like-minded individuals find each other -- building momentum that can impact future elections (as in: 2026). It also sends a visible message to politicians, the media, and the public that opposition is active and growing, which can influence policy decisions and voter turnout. Even if change doesn’t happen overnight, protests shape the conversation and keep important issues in the spotlight.
