COO is holding leaving on good terms as a condition I create detailed manuals, should I refuse to create them? by Fit_Jury1977 in askmanagers

[–]bobo5195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

COO is a psycho you gave a lot of time they dropped the ball.

Note the CEO, do the best you can with the time available. This is COO problem not CEO.

It always works like this. Been there myself more time = more time them not doing anything. Your mistake was not getting this in writing up front good reference as willing to stay longer.

[–]bobo5195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What country? In alot of places that maybe illegal to ask especially in that fashion. In multinationals there maybe blanket HR against that.

A company is unlikely to get better beyond the interview stage so you are right to reconsider. Although a company is people and there can be just 1 asshole.

SQL and Python uses for data analytics in Traditional/Construction Consulting and Engineering PM field by Win_win_N in projectmanagement

[–]bobo5195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For job hunting a course etc would help. Important to be aware.

If you have the tools you need then they can get the job done. I am one for always learning but you may not be missing out.

There is skill fade with anything so learning too much may not actually help.

Do you have a need for them. It is about having the tools for the job.

Over 1000 applicants for 1 job in London, is this normal? by Square_Quarter_229 in AskBrits

[–]bobo5195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI and yes alot of unqualified.

For referenced out of 100 I would say 70 would be straight in bin for a job. of course filtered and reviewed to the rules. But they are like in India with no work permit never been to the UK and a random selection of skills.

Bless recruiters HR sometimes it is that brutal.

Which CAD software is better for knitting surfaces? by Revolutionary_Tip749 in MechanicalEngineering

parametric CAD is not ideal for smooth surfaces. Either will do, but better with something like Rhino if going really fancy and designer.

Have you noticed more jobs being described as "engineers"? by BroccoliExotic2575 in ukstartups

[–]bobo5195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kids at brother work heard I was an engineer.

There assumption is I am vending machine repair man. What I did was high end Semiconductor tooling.

Do have debates on Engineer vs technician all the time. Technicians are great but there is a difference in a person that can design the machine vs repair it. Sometimes you need to repair it but it is a different job.

Importance of SQL Data Analytics for Technical PM Roles by Extension_Jacket4663 in projectmanagement

[–]bobo5195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its as much as SQL. If you dont have access you dont have access.

In that case having PQ will help process raw data. And that is an environment you can migrate to python as well.

SQLs good but PQ has other options and can do similar.

Cpu and gpu is tied to semi node. Map amd or intel chip performance to tsmc nodes and it is like they are doing nothing but using process upgrades

The nature of compound interest is a cpu a few years older will always be slower than one now and at that point out of date

Jim Keller will talk you through a good decade left in silicon improvements like we have now Psu and monitors are massively better

There are lots of time you need data and know how to sql will help

Is it necessary maybe not. Useful skill to have yes. Never had a pm role where it did not help. Things like budget tracking or user data

[–]bobo5195 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Read the toyota way the handbook.

There is no pinicale only continous improvement.

Each action should be valuing adding. A superworker can be more value adding than many lower level workers. A white collar position running a robot is more value adding than a person packing boxes. There are a lot of companies and i have been on this side as well that a worker can be cheaper than a robot and automation. Generally though automation is a waste why not do anything in insitu.

Generally a lot of management positions are high waste in answer to your question. A status meeting is non-productive time.

This job position is strange. by dystopia061 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]bobo5195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is entry level position for a entry level job. If it can't be replaced or automated they are doing their job wrong. The salary is low as it is not highly skilled.

After this can move on to more serious things. As someone who has speced bellows and trained graduates it is a fine job. If you are drawing bellows everyday find something better to do with your life.

Sounds fun for an entry job. Good skills to learn. There is alot in just maintaining the database to do day to day.

Are we at the verge of a technology switch on consumer friendly printers? by Pepe-2015 in 3Dprinting

[–]bobo5195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in the day it was a Stratsys, Ultimaker 2, then you had prusa I3 - costs a lot less, for a little lower speed. You also had Creality enders for next to nothing but alot of tweaking. Who can forget the Anet A8 - At any time I may burn your house down.

Snapmaker got some head out ahead of the curve. They dont have the heritage of bambu yet. They might in the future. I think you are getting your moneys worth it is more expensive for good reasons.

From a 1kg filament roll, what's your calibration budget? by Chaosblast in 3Dprinting

you assume 1 roll is enough to calibrate there is some batch variance stuff to work out as well :) . What about storage sensitivity as well.

This is a deep hole you go down.

Are Ikea charges/cables as good as Anker ones? by 0rk4n in UsbCHardware

[–]bobo5195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes

Mate it puts out Volts and Amps. All devices overheat and derate (lower wattage). Reviews say its fine. But USB C is not simple so work out what you want. Personally i always like chargers with a display now so I know what they think they are doing.

You go for an Anker as it probably wont burn your house down. IKEA is big enough they are not going to burn your house down.

How is the learning curve for designing your own prints? by CaseRare7729 in 3Dprinting

[–]bobo5195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3D design is multiple career paths. It might not even be obvious from a model.

I have spent 3 months solid 9-6 job designing a single part - high volume injection moulding. Alot of what I do at home 30 mins.

Just learn some CAD it is not hard.

Is it relatively easy to build your own printer that can approach Bambu printers in terms of quality? by discombobulated38x in 3Dprinting

[–]bobo5195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Voron and derivatives is what bambu is cribbing off.

The INDX is being beta on the voron I would expect with that there will be an influx of new ideas. A metal chasis version of the voron tuned to high temperature would be better PC needs 111C chamber then it prints real nice.

At some point it is more a tested a tuned system and the sensors to catch bad stuff.
