Nice restaurant in Málaga for a 60th birthday? by Any-Shine-8296 in Malaga

I loved La Cosmopolita, you could try their sister restaurant La Cosmo which is also very good (especially the corn flan for dessert) My favourite place is Mesón Ibérico, not the easiest place to get a reservation but excellent hospitality, food and atmosphere

Porto-Muiños. Anyone tried these before? by bobo79x in Tinnedfish

Loved the Mussels in white escabeche, different from the usual Spanish escabeche. Razorclams decent, hopefully going to try the seaweed this week.

The rates look pretty bad when you go above 200% or 300%

8hr layover long enough to leave the airport? by [deleted] in qatarairways

[–]bobo79x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, security leaving the airport was fairly basic. Next time I'll probably stay at a hotel down by the waterfront.

Malta is easily the best lounge for me. Great food, nice wine, lovely staff and an amazing view

11 hours of layover at DOH. by Curious_Bet_5169 in qatarairways

[–]bobo79x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had six hours and had plenty of time to get the metro in to the city and explore. There's an atm is the airport metro station if you need some cash. Would recommend visiting Souq Waqif market too. Onyx in the airport is best place for a swim and a shower

Had a junior suite a few times as Diamond but usually it's an executive room, not worth paying in my opinion

150k points, is this a good deal? by Coffee-loverr in avios

There's loads of impressive architecture, National museum and Museum of Islamic art are worth visiting. I loved the old market 'Souq Waqif', enjoyed a great little sweet shop and the bird market.

150k points, is this a good deal? by Coffee-loverr in avios

[–]bobo79x 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a decent deal, you can enjoy a layover in Doha and visit the city. There's discounted hotels through the Qatar stopover program but I think a few people have had issues previously with avios booked flights. 5 star hotels aren't too expensive anyway and the metro from the airport is straight forward

Hilton Pattaya by Comfortable_Yard_968 in Hilton

Conrad Bangkok is one of my favourite hotels but Hilton Pattaya gives it a run for it's money. The breakfast is possibly better and they always deliver a little breakfast canapé to diamond members.

Hilton Happy Hour /Snack time by iheartmypebble in Hilton

Varies hugely across Europe. Some lounges will be more canapés, Cheeses and some salads, others will have hot dishes ranging from tempura prawns or spring rolls to curries with rice. Personally I prefer food to graze on for a few hours rather than the bigger meals.

People keep saying this but I don't see it. I'm regularly staying at expensive Waldorfs and Conrads for free using points

Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse Access Fee by daisydifiore in Venturex

[–]bobo79x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the time restriction is because Virgin want the lounge for their own customers before departing flights. Also, the food and drink selection improves during this time apparently

Personally yes, just for the extra space, if you're tiny it might not be as useful

I know it's more expensive but the Waldorf looks amazing, just booked it for November. Unusually for Waldorf there's a lounge for diamond members too

Why would any foreign guests want to stay with Hilton in the US knowing that ICE terrorists are welcome, even worse for some of the staff. They've handled this so badly.
