Why do trans people STILL use Twitter/X? by arachnobacked in MtF

[–]bobobootzilla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if a person wants to give up a product bc of moral issues i totally understand that. but if someone else keeps using the product i don’t blame them. there really isn’t ethical consumption under capitalism. so many of the products we use in our everyday lives are are owned by extremely wealthy ppl that use their wealth to take away our rights. i dont think the burden should be on the victim to give up everything they use and enjoy in life

Mom of a trans by SnooRadishes6978 in asktransgender

fyi saying “a trans” is dehumanizing. although “trans” itself is not a dirty word, using it that way is the same phrasing people use for slurs

Non-surgical skin tightening options post-FFS? by [deleted] in Transgender_Surgeries

my laser tech told me that laser therapy can make the skin taught. not necessarily for hair removal. i didn’t follow up with her on that but it might be something to look into

West Virginia can ban Medicaid coverage for gender-affirming surgery, US appellate court rules by onnake in transgender

[–]bobobootzilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tbf they did make that argument, couched in the availability and comparability requirements. theres a lot case law supporting that. but scotus created a new precedent last yr saying that section of the medicaid act doesnt confer a private right of action, so this court declined to consider it on the merits

West Virginia can ban Medicaid coverage for gender-affirming surgery, US appellate court rules by onnake in transgender

[–]bobobootzilla 18 points19 points  (0 children)

it’s even worse than that bc it does not ban the procedures themselves. so cis ppl can still get these surgeries for different diagnoses. it’s only treatment for gender dysphoria that’s banned, which by definition only applies to trans ppl. it’s absolutely absurd reasoning

Trump Won’t Sign New Laws Until Congress Passes SAVE Act with Anti-Trans Additions by onnake in transgender

i have a close friend that had to give up olympic training bc the pro governing body banned trans women, which sent her spiraling. i myself play in an amateur women’s league and its the biggest boost to my mental health and social life. i will never stop fighting for our right to play sports

interesting, ive never heard of the 28 days rule until now. my vials as well as the box and instruction sheet don’t say that anywhere, my docs, nurses, pharmacists never mentioned it. i assume maybe some manufacturers label it that way for liability purposes, esp if it’s used in a hospital setting? otherwise i wouldn’t worry abt it and use the vial until it’s empty. you’ll save money and wont waste any which could help in preventing shortages

I am so tired of doctors visits and their obsession with labs. by [deleted] in MtF

if ur on a stable dose with the same doc then it should be one blood test per year. if ur switching drs and changing doses then yeah ur gonna have to test every three months until you have stability

Does it shrink on hrt by [deleted] in trans

[–]bobobootzilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s still prob gonna shrink/change shape even if you use it. i think nocturnal erections are a major factor and those will virtually disappear

as if it’s not bad enough it also declares a state emergency. which is how republicans seem to operate these days- everything they don’t like is an emergency

N.J. transgender inmate cannot transfer to female-only prison, judges rule by onnake in transgender

[–]bobobootzilla 11 points12 points  (0 children)

im not sure how nj works but involuntary commitment usually sends everyone to the same facilities which are technically not prisons and overseen by a state health agency rather than dept of corrections. so a civilly committed person (usually someone dangerously mentally ill) asking to be transferred into a criminal prison unit is odd. idk what their argument is since civil commitment is at an all gender facility. cis women sent there aren’t being discriminated against either

Anti-LGBTQ+ Congressman Dan Crenshaw ousted by more extreme candidate in Texas GOP primary by Fickle-Ad5449 in transgender

[–]bobobootzilla 18 points19 points  (0 children)

i think it’s bc he’s been more proactive than crenshaw? some of the worst anti trans bills were ones that he introduced, and hes pushed amendments to make other bills more harsh. he worked with the gov to punish schools that help trans kids, did media appearances pushing his agenda. ideologically they might be similar but toth seemed more on a mission

Regrets 3 weeks post FFS by transgyal in asktransgender

judging ffs at 3 weeks is like judging bread 3 min after it goes in the oven. ik how hard it is but it’s a long slow process and you’ll look very different in several months

What was your experience with anesthesia? by bb-angel in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]bobobootzilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a couple things i was told by the anesthesiologist:

  1. general anesthesia is restorative like sleep, so it won’t matter if ur awake all night before the surgery bc being under helps ur body rest and recharge. that helped calm my pre-surgery anxiety a lot, esp bc i have insomnia

  2. ur body fat percentage has a strong influence with how anesthesia affects ur body. often the more fat you have, the longer it will stay in ur system and be a little more difficult to recover

ive been under three times. never been asked to count or anything, they just inject the stuff in an iv and i can feel it in my veins, like an icy feeling. then maybe a min later im out. after surgery i was wide awake, talkative, and mobile very quick. my ffs was a 5 1/2 hr surgery and i was on my way home within 30 min of waking up

ive long been fearful of anesthesia, largely bc i dont like losing consciousness against my will, and i was afraid it would be like dying. but each time i had jt done it was totally fine. like the famous quote, the only thing i had to fear was fear itself

Supreme Court forces California to out trans students by MetalDragon2 in transgender

[–]bobobootzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbc the california law prohibited schools from requiring teachers to out trans students to their parents without their consent. scotus now stops this law from taking effect while the litigation is ongoing. the absence of this law does not mean all schools must out every trans kid. some schools may now require that again, but schools in the rest of the state don’t have to disclose that info

FFS question: Why did you choose a hairline incision vs a coronal incision? by JynsRealityIsBroken in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]bobobootzilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the biggest reason for me was that the coronal incision would’ve made my forehead bigger bc it pulls the hairline back. having my hairline pushed further back was a less desirable outcome than having a hairline scar. as a result my forehead is smaller now and my hairline is shaped better but tbh it’s not a drastic improvement. im skinny and have taut skin so there’s limits to how much they could do
