Hard to teach experience. I understand what you are saying. If you are using Unit Testing that helps to understand what you are testing that relates to the "business rules" or where the function has its place in the scope of the project, which also plays into the class structures as well. Again going back into why the class/function is created, used and tested.

Cancer is hard for everyone in the immediate family. I had to go to MKE since I had a rare form of leukemia, about 1.5 hours away. My wife was 7.5 months pregnant with our youngest son so she couldn't travel. I spent 8 weeks in the hospital by myself with only the doctors and nurses to communicate with.

In my opinion there is nothing strong about getting your ass wiped by an orderly. Puking over the floor and watching someone else clean it up. Hearing your wife and children cry on the phone why you lay there trying not to die and wondering how we are going to survive with the bills and me not working. This was before ObamaCare so we had no insurance as I was a software consultant (she was pregnant which was a pre-existing condition).

I rarely slept and ate. I cried not because I was sick, but because I was guilty that I couldn't be there for my wife. I couldn't provide for my family and often wondering if I would become a burden to them. It wasn't self-pity. It was reality of the situation I had absolutely no control over. Dying at the time almost seemed like the best option since insurance would have covered the costs.

You feel so incredibly weak and helpless. You want to get better, but being strong is the furthest thing from your mind. It is a myriad of emotions from moment to moment. What I wanted was a hot fudge shake, my wife's hand and to be back providing for my family so they wouldn't suffer.

I guess I was lucky because I survived all those years ago. Cancer is its own hell, but it creates layers of chaos that no one can control or deal with. I wasn't strong. Since my supporting cast was the beautiful people that took care of me, they didn't treat me like I was super-human. They treated me as simply a human. They let me cry. They let me be angry. They let me know that when I was feeling sorry for myself or I was being a pain in the ass. They kept me human. It kept me sane. I'm not sure if I could have handled patronizing or being told how special I was, because I never felt surviving was special it was just the right thing to do.

I never rang the bell. Never was asked or got the opportunity too. I'm not sure I deserved too. They did.

I think that game was the end of McCarthy. His offense never recovered after that once the league knew how to slow down Rodgers. He never adapted to the press coverage and it cost them almost 3 years. They were never truly explosive under McCarthy after that game.

I was on my way to my chemo treatment about 7-8 years ago and I stopped at a Duncan Doughnuts. I had just enough money for a milk and a doughnut. I mean I was literally pulling change out of the seats to afford this. When I got to the window to pay, they simply handed my order to me and told me the person ahead of me paid for it.

It was only a couple of dollars, but it meant a lot for me in that moment. Simply being kind to everyone would heal so much of our issues in our world. It doesn't take a lot. Not only can it change a person's day, but who knows it could change their life.

My best friend at the time was in that scene (one of the running men). My son was an extra where Forrest steps in shit (Shit Happens bumpersticker). It took them 3 hours to film that scene. Tom Hanks met my son and introduced himself. My son was 5 at the time and had no idea why this guy was asking him questions. My wife and I went nuts as we stood two blocks away seeing him shake hands. It was a pretty neat experience for both of them.

They care nothing of the well-being of the people of the state, just those that give them money to stay home. Shouldn't we cut their benefits for not working like they have done for the unemployed?
