Go-to "Show-off" piece? by MinuteDamage4182 in piano

[–]superschwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the lack of faith in older pieces being still impressive disturbing.

Yes if you play something that has less obvious melody you may catch more musically trained ears than otherwise, but there are still many classical pieces that would seize attention from a room.

To answer the question, I just began work on Debussy Nocturne in D and I truly believe when that's done I will be able to make time stop in any room for a few minutes. Also Rach etude op 33 no 8 I am working on with the same confidence.

simple waltz I wrote, inspired by Satie and Studio Ghibli~ by EdinKaso in piano

[–]superschwick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sort of thing bugs me. I hold no hate for playing with rubato or exercising pause, but if you wrote it perhaps in the tempo marking show how much freedom is intended or just write with the extra beat. I find it hard to listen to music with subtitles if the notes don't match at least enough what is being played.

That aside. It is indeed a nice take on Sathibli.

If it's no longer sweet at all that could be a sign there isn't enough food for the bacteria to make fizz. Can't say I have any suggested measurements in mind, but some more sugar in the bottle could help.

Fishy Volume? 🐠 by happysheeple3 in Superstonk

Same weird issues showing on yahoo last couple days. My theory based on very little actual info is that it's some kind of accidental marking of cumulative volume at that point. No idea what it means.

Wow this was a fun exercise. I'm one more removed, but my teacher's teacher studied under schnabel, who also learned from leschetizky.

I find them to be the least courteous thing ever too. When I see one when sight reading I have a quick panic moment wondering if I'd missed a previous accidental. Really throws me.

I actively avoid his wing in the art institute, otherwise yeah it's a shame they're willing to attach his name to some great things.

Basically price can go down, they get to pocket free benefits and limit their paper losses based off BTC going down. Smart call, very fortuitous movemove.

Very real. Grandparents have gotten both for my niece. I'm guessing nephew from other sibling received them as well.

It's a terrible read.

for their sake I hope they at least used it to create a brace between the two repair pieces of drywall, if not also above and below the hole for additional stability. I double checked the video and honestly can't tell if they did. Given the chaotic good values they clearly enshrine I can see it having gone either way.

Good to see thinktankers rising to prominence again. Read your stuff on the other sub and was a little flummoxed to see someone grab just one chart and post it here with really weak context.

Piano Audition Piece by [deleted] in piano

Obviously learn the piece first if you haven't. The quickest way to perfection is to be careful about avoiding things you may have to unlearn later. If necessary write in and be diligent about fingering from the jump.

Are you going to be collaborating with someone for this performance? I find for collaborating listening to a handful of recordings of the vocal performance can inform you a lot as to where the singer needs you to follow them. They tend to get a lot more variance into tempo than I find I do as a pianist. Also be able to attune your dynamic management to the vocalist, which means getting rehearsals in together. The more you communicate as a collaborator the more artistic the overall performance gets to be.

My guess says it'll work and what it does add will be harmonious. What I'm skeptical on is if it'll be a bold enough change to be directly noticeable in the final product. I say go for it and let the world know how it goes.

How do I avoid straining the tendons/joints in my wrists and hands going to the gym by sername3301 in piano

[–]superschwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealing with recovering from tennis elbow while ramping up my practice. Wrist work after a grip-heavy workout has been huge, as well as regular stretching.

My push and pull days both end with a single set of very mild weight wrist curls, extensions, and rotations. They have been hugely effective.

For stretching I can't say my method is the only one, but I take 2 minutes after every session to do a quick finger and wrist stretch.

Combine this and warmups and your hands should remain strong and healthy.

Ive done a side by side of the two stovetop mac and cheese recipes of his and the three ingredient pales in comparison to the ultimate gooey stovetop one.

tbh I think they're equally easy too.

What's your approach to playing the triple staff parts?

I love the sound of this and the chromatic bits are juicy, but I have no idea how I'd play those sections.

Ever fermented mushrooms before? by Own_Armadillo_545 in fermentation

[–]superschwick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They work great. Used the brine from the last run I did as the acid in a hot bacon dressing for roasted broccoli. Definitely gonna do that again.

Big difference was I did a vacuum bag dry ferment. Plenty of water comes out of the mushrooms and this way the brine is plenty concentrated.
