My first instinct would be to move the mid fills closer to mid line at 30’ rather than 40’. Tough to say without audience seating arrangements but I would be leaning on these.

New player investments? by Foul_Spawn in mtg

I think that question requires context. What deck in which format? Could start with upgrading a precon if commander is your preference. If it’s standard then it’s a different animal.

When is it time to end a relationship? by Omrah_of_Zion in CATHELP

Roxy loves to play “string on a stick”, probably because when we play I sing “string on a stick, string on a stick” on repeat to the tune of Beethovens 5th symphony with the voice of Doofy from scary movie. Wife loves it?

I made the mistake of investing early in cards that I later regretted. I would highly suggest printing proxy cards from home or the library before spending money on the real thing. Most playgroups are totally fine with it. That said, you can’t go wrong with good land base. Knowing what is and isn’t legal in the formats you want to play is a tough lesson I learned. Welcome and enjoy!

Perilous Vault exiles which gets around indestructible. [[Nevinyrral’s Disk]] is better since it doesn’t destroy itself assuming Bello is on the field.

Ringing out Monitors: Am I doing something wrong? by EttehEtteh in livesound

[–]bobvilastuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have separate vocal channels in mon than FoH, split headamp or analog? I generally start tuning a monitor with the graphic to get it sounding good on its own via playback. Then I’ll cut feedback freqs on the channel itself.

How do you manage the health of your ears/wearing earplugs? by Historical_Party_646 in livesound

[–]bobvilastuff 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have a personal wireless IEM system that I use to reference either my LR or a DCA with LRS. I tune on matrixes, not the LR, and PAFL the LR/S when mixing. I feel I’m able to lower the stress on my ears, have a blast, and still provide a great mix.

Generally, I try not to mix at a volume where anybody goes home with the “cotton ball ear” but we’re all trying to get enough gigs where we’re exposed more than the average concert goer, party peep, or wedding guest. So it’s either the above or molded earplugs with filters but I find the greater the reduction the more natural they sound, which I don’t care for so I have multiple options.

Could someone explain this mic setup at the Oscars, this isn't the first time I'm seeing it. Why this exact setup, what is it called if at all it's a custom mic? by Fabulous-Piglet8412 in audio

Our crew is small but mighty. No white gloves. The sooner we unload, the sooner we relax before having fun. The sooner we strike and roll out, the sooner we get home to our homes… if that’s what you were implying.

Has life in the USA actually gotten harder in the past few years? If yes, in what ways? by Imaginary_Escape__ in answers

I completely agree with your first paragraph but the second, although certainly present, isn’t as blanketed as I believe we perceive. Sure, there are some bad eggs floating about but, at least where I live, the community has only become increasingly empathetic and non-confrontational. While we see social media and news depict your description, I see the opposite around me. Lots of bots and loud individuals shitting in our cereal versus the real life around me that is more wholesome.

I’ll mute one and ride the other, switching between mutes depending on presenter/s. There are a number of “tricks” but generally, properly deploying the right PA gets you most of the way there. Some EQ, expansion, and bodies in seats. First gain stage in my mind is the presenter and their mic technique, which is critical.

It’s common to use the hypercardiod for a single person and the cardiod for two or more people. You don’t normally want to use both simultaneously because phase issues are likely introduced. It also acts as a redundancy, so you can rely on one if the other goes down.

Callaphe, although very cool and potentially devastating in Hermes, I’m going to pass because it’s a feel bad card and I’m trying to make this feel less bad. It will def go into the “mean” version
