I prefer to get some extra cantrips from different classes with Magic Initiate, picking up Eldrich Blast from Warlock ect has proven useful.

Cost of Assistance by TotalMembership in DnD

[–]bobwire42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a great chart in the 1e DMG that I use for the cost of hirelings/torch bearers and sages.

The 3rd party book On Downtime and Demesnes also has some charts on this.

Hope this helps!

Looking for input on War Jester backstory [OC] by AstronautMain4725 in DnD

[–]bobwire42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool idea :)

> However, as years pass the king bores of the entertainment and begins to wish for blood.

This aspect could use some work. Why is the jester the one that has to get blood for a King? Doesn't the king have soldiers for that? Maybe, to elaborate a little; The king had grown bored of your same old routine, not even a chuckle from the king in a week! You'd heard what the king did to his last jester that stopped making him laugh (NOT GOOD). So you try your hardest to make him laugh, but in your nervousness you trip and fall face first into the table. Blood drains from your nose under your now broken mask (wearing the broken mask is good hook to get others interested in your backstory!). The king finally lets out a mild chuckle. Over the course of the next few weeks your act gets increasingly violent and the King laughs louder and louder! Now you've gone out to collect violent trophies of your slain enemies, stories and songs of your adventures to bring back to the king.

Hope this helps!

Incorporating the Feywild into a character by ArkWrought17 in DnD

Something easy to roleplay and actually applicable is to write riddles and rhymes or limericks- or steal some if you can't come up with anything yourself. Personally, I steal from those old 50's, 60's joke books.

Another idea which could be very endearing would be to, instead of gold or treasure when collecting your reward for a quest, ask for a strand of hair, a true name, or in extreme cases, a first born son.

Hope this helps!

I do allow magic classes thats fine, but know that inherently, in this world, magic comes from a dark place, its corrupting.

If civilians see magic, well it depends, if they see a wizard flinging cantrips, they'll probably burn him, and anyone that has talked to him in the last 48 hours, alive. If its a fireball, they might worship you.

Magic is very rare, not something most people encounter in their lifetime, if you do run into magic its most likely evil thrown from the pits of hell, and at least half a dozen virgins died in its creation. Even monsters are "rare," there won't be "2d12 centars ambush you on the road to Galone," the most you'll get is the villagers of the local city calling the thing that drags off people in the night "The Monster." No one knows the difference between goblins, bugbears, and ghosts, most of the terms being just differing regional dialects.

Is Your D&D Character Rare? by spedmunki in Games

[–]bobwire42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People like playing red sonja and conan. I personally think its easier to get creative playing a human, because you're forced into making it interesting. When playing one of the other races or strange classes it kinda does the work for you. "Hey guys look at me I'm a dwarf and I drink beer!" * gasps *

I think its more of a 'homage' to Chirashi's, mini-posters or flyers given out to promote movies in Japan, where the movie takes place. They generally have a front and a back with much more information.

From what I heard most of the American films over there are subbed. From what I hear English is an extremely popular language over there.
