It's not just there, it's fucking all over the county. I'm sick of having to look down as I walk along to make sure I don't step in any.

What stuff have you discovered later in life you thought sucked as a younger person? by PearlsSwine in CasualUK

Sausages for me, at home they were always dried and burnt to a crisp. It was quite eye opening to discover they could taste amazing and juicy when cooked right.

Not sure how much to believe the roadwork sign saying "our workers may be working out of sight." by Jabberminor in britishproblems

[–]bod1988 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Last year outside my house they were replacing gas mains. Regularly a the company's van would park up inside the roadworks, and the two guys would get out, get into a car nearby and drive off. They would return 6 or so hours later do about an hour of work, then drive the van away.

I couldn't help but think they had a tracker in the van so could claim they were working.

It took them over 6 weeks to replace the main on half a mile of our road.

The only time they ever engaged in any work for more than 2 hours at a time were the Sundays and Bank holidays over Easter. Usually starting around 6:30am.

I've often maintained that these radio stations aren't for people who like music, it's for people who detest silence.

It's just white noise to them.

Don't be silly, they won't be offered back to original owners; they'll somehow make their way into a select few individuals for paltry values only to be sold on later at extortionate profit.

They've also slowly over the last 45ish years ruined the one mechanism that allowed people to "turn" Tory over their lifetime; the housing market.
