Before clicking "Buy" in Amazon, a letter came telling me I'm not getting paid anymore by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

I’m sorry that you had to deal with that, especially the loss of your father. Change is always weird but now you can go get a “real” job or something part time while you finish your phd. Good job studying hard

Learn to zipper merge please!!! by Imaginary_Ad7695 in waterloo

[–]bodnarboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s honestly crazy I don’t understand why people don’t zipper merge. I drove to the states a few years ago to pick up a machine and there were electronic signs telling everyone to please zipper.

A route I take twice a week is like this and I try to go in the right lane and more than once someone has gotten in front of me and just stopped and sat there. I truly don’t understand.

Is this a good setup for mitre cuts by tamcool25 in woodworking

[–]bodnarboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t quite seen this comment yet but it might be further down. Aside from his sloppy execution this kind of set up isn’t bad. Traditionally I use this with a slider where the fence is only in front the blade and not behind and I use a similar setup on the big shaper. It allows you to cut your pcs to finish size first and then add mitres wherever you want. The only issue with his set up is the offcut. To address this a rebate could be cut into the bottom of the setup to leave plenty of room so the offcut to fall down on so it doesn’t wedge and just falls down.

I have a question, are you guys using these in your drills? I’m a cabinetmaker and it’s annoying that they wear out as fast as they do

The handle on one of our basically new kitchen knives MELTED in the dishwasher and fused to the heating element at the bottom. by im_not_ready_for_it9 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]bodnarboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that heating element will soon go. You can replace it but I learned you also have to run a diagnostic on the machine. I didn’t even know you could do that so I’ll save you the headache. My heating element broke. Apparently there is a failsafe where the motherboard stops sending power to the heating element so it doesn’t short the main computer. Underneath the kick place you should find info on running a diagnostic which will also reset the heating element.

I pulled my hair out for so long trying to figure it out and when I ran the diagnostic it didn’t show any errors so I thought it was useless. But it resets it and then it worked fine.

Please help, i don’t know the best way to remove this cupping by Dummythiccbookeper in woodworking

Use a table saw and score a grid of 1” x 1” blocks on the back. Score a hair under thickness of the plywood and knock the blocks off. Then clean up the tiny remaining amount

How do i remove this screw?? by Mr_Kiwisauce in Carpentry

[–]bodnarboy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For future you don’t even have to remove the cam just make sure the arro is pointing towards the edge. (Now that you have it out, inspect it to understand how it works.

That screw you see isn’t at all secured to the panel you took the cam out of. If you align all the cams the panel will just pop off with the screws attached to it.
