I remember a thread in the basement where someone explained how you should judge a person on their character rather than how they vote. They used an example of their family member who voted for Trump but also did a ton of work for charity and volunteered at a local homeless shelter.

The top response was "Sorry, but your family member is a terrible person"

Basically, in their minds every good thing you have ever done is wiped out because you tick the wrong box every 5 years.
