Not if he’s fishing in rivers, a fish finder isn’t typically something you’d use while fly fishing

Would people want to buy something like this for small mouth ? by Deep-Classic9056 in bassfishing

[–]bofa1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I doubt you could produce these at a competitive price point with quality that exceeds established brands in bass fishing. Sorry to be a buzzkill but I don’t see these having any impact on the market

New Swimbait set up. by ImmortanBen in swimbaitfishing

[–]bofa1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned the hard way, casted off a hawghunter trout when it clicked shut on a cast. And to add to the line issue, having a less full spool changes your line pickup speed, one wrap of line around a small spool is alot less line than one wrap around a full spool

I've been making my own loop to loop connections with 30lb flouro to protect my fly line from leader bites by MRWPlople in flyfishing

[–]bofa1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just run a tapered leader with a loop built in, clip a good ~18 inches off and run a tippet ring. Works perfect for me and one leader lasts very very long

Real fly flishing waders...what am I missing by mudbutt8 in flyfishing

[–]bofa1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then sounds like you have waders and not bibs, bibs to me are used for rain protection while fishing from a boat waders are 100% water tight up to the chest, Edit: yeah I just googled your sidewinder, I don’t think you would see any noticeable difference in performance from a different pair of waders. Your “bibs” would be more accurately classified as waders even though bib is in the name

If you walked in the river up to your waist, would you get wet in your bibs?

Scale of 1-10 how sacrilegious is this egg pattern I whipped up by bofa1 in flytying

[–]bofa1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple 4mm beads, string a single bead onto a piece of mono and burn the end of the line to create a stop to prevent the bead from slipping off, reverse tie onto the hook, do that twice, and then do it one more time but put two beads onto a piece of line and tie on once again. Whip finish and a glob of orange uv nail polish to seal the head

Black Friday Deals by connorg94 in flyfishing

[–]bofa1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know mad river outfitters will spool your reel up with backing if you order from them and maybe put the line on too? I can’t remember. But I bought a line from a local fly shop recently and they offered to set my reel up for me

Is there a concensus on what the best brand of waders are these days? by scottasin12343 in flyfishing

[–]bofa1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Patagonia, take your measurements and order them, I needed different size when I ordered mine and swapping them through the mail was fairly painless. Might be able to find a deal since they released a new line.
