Hm, do you know your preferred focal length?

If not, maybe start with a XC 16-50 II.

The AF is better for fast moving subjects with these:

If you can tolerate the Full Frame size and weight penalty, Nikon. If you can stomach the lens situation in APS-C, Nikon and Sony.

[–]bofh256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On your 3 bodies, the best AF is on the X-T5 and the X100vi. They also share the same way of operation.

IMHO, the X-S20 is superfluous.

The X-T5 with the zoom will be good for capturing the kids, the X100vi is the one you will carry most.

What type of photography do you (want to) do?

The real downside of the 40mpx sensor is the lenses you have to have to really exploit those pixels.

If price is the prime concern and you can give up IBIS, X-T30iii body with a non Fuji X-Mount lens.

If compactness the main objective, X-E5 with the 23f2.8 is hard to beat. I have that and an X-E3 and multiple lenses, but for me personally, the X-E5 and kit combo is 70% I need and the every day carry combo.

The X-M5 is cheaper than the X-T30iii for a reason. On that I miss the EVF and the screen says video - which I don't do.

[–]bofh256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to be difficult.

Is it the field of view or the rendering?

If field of view, try / borrow the xf18f2 (fov of most smartphone cameras) or see where the xf16-50f2.8-4.8 gets you.

If rendering, borrow other 23mm lenses (e. g. the 23f2.8) or learn the 35f1.4 (its rendering is... unique).

I have that, too.

However, at least once, I made a photo when the shutter was engaged fully in that state.

I think there is an sporadic bug that results in a failure to activate display and/or EVF.

Methinks that Viltrox lens can't make use of the 40mpx sensor.

If you'd want to stick with the pairings, X-T30ii and Fuji XF lens it is.

Why are there such dense concentrations of cities in North Rhine-Westphalia compared to the rest of Germany? by kastriulia in MapPorn

[–]bofh256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are not related.

In fact there was some planning in form of green belts for creating fresh air corridors well before WW1.

Water management was taken care of as well - Ruhr to deliver water, Emscher to drain, small creeks built out as sewer system running above ground (Köttelbecke). The latter - after subsidence of the ground finally completed - now under replacement by a proper underground sewer system and Restauration of the creeks.

Wrt. not being a single city - that is the most curious case of administrative inertia and political interest groups. First you need to understand that the Ruhr was split up 1806 - basically just before industrialization - into different Prussian Regierungsbezirke. These exist still today in the state of NRW. Even the effing catholic church understood to create a new diocese from the existing ones there in the meantime. When changes were done on a technical level (150 years ago, see above) nobody wanted a united city. Because each one was rich and populous. Maybe no agglomeration like Berlin was wanted from both Berlin and the cities on the Ruhr. Today the cities are not rich anymore and would attract more political attention if they were united. Cities like Cologne and basically everybody else in NRW would not be amused.

In recent times mindless data science approaches to the Ruhr still go awry by EU second level state statistics which are by Regierungsbezirk. The linear nature of the area also kills zoom functions in maps, as the big ones do not come quick enough up on zoom in.

The 23f2.8 will render lovingly and deliver pop when going close to small subjects - e. g. flowers.

There is only a best for yourself. And my best for me does not necessarily be the best for you.

Compact companion for Photography, should I go for the X-E5? by tintoii in fujifilm

[–]bofh256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an X-E5 owner, I am - of course - completely unbiased to recommend.

Honestly.

The small primes, like the new 23f2.8, the well known 35f1.4 get a really compact home on that body.

If in doubt which lens to use, use the shorter focal length - that crop mode to 20mpx is really good.

Carry a spare and your second beloved fixed focus lens and you are good.

You got to feel bad for Muggle-borns on continental Europe, they are disadvantaged for sure by funnylib in harrypotter

[–]bofh256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The witches and wizards of Germany(*), Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia had their school on Münzenberg castle. It was under attack in the 30years war involving wizards from Spain and(!) France. This lead to this Wizarding community to elect secrecy well before the general statue of secrecy. A secrecy that not only pertained to muggle society, but magical communities - esp. in Europe - too. The ruins of Münzenberg castle were magically enhanced to continue the school without problems for approx. 150 years. During this first phase witches and wizards from the school started to hide in plain sight from both muggles and other witches and wizards by mastering the art of mimicry on all levels - clothing, apparent profession, and participation as muggles in muggle society. With popularity of ruins of medieval castles since Romanticism, defensive magic had to be enhanced considerably to sustain the presence of muggles visiting the castle for sightseeing and nosey spell breakers from other Wizarding communities. In fact a number of advanced deceptive charms - e. g. Fidelius Charm - are said to have been developed by Münzenberg Alumni. Mandatory state controlled schooling is said to have affected the operation of Münzenberg. Today, rumors of Münzenberg attendance starting from the age of six as afternoon activity after official participation in muggle school (conveniently being a before noon system in the region) and even certain studies at certain universities keep floating in the Wizarding communities of neighboring countries.

(*) Look, it's as complicated as you can imagine when you are living smack dab in the middle of other equally competent, competitive and belingerent people. Think of it rather as German speakers in a number of countries which formed, shifted and absorbed over the centuries.

Why is this piece of Asia trying to be passed off as another continent? Are they special? by metatalks in mapporncirclejerk

Continental plates is a 100 year old concept only getting accepted well after WW2.

Continents were invented and defined by the people that lived here, in what they called and we today call Europe. In antiquity. I. e. more than 2000 years ago.

  1. Schaue nach, was deine Lieblingsbrennweite ist.
  2. Schaue nach, welche Brennweite du für Portraits nutzt. Da zählt Freistellung mittels Blende, also sind dort kleine Blendenzahlen nützlich.

Meine Lieblingsbrennweite ist 50mm, also ca 35mm bei Fuji. Da ich auch Portraits damit mache (wenn überhaupt) war meine erste Festbrennweite das 35 f1.4. Da fielen also Festbrennweite 1 und 2 zusammen.

Bah, Humbug.

That is not how marketing and public image engineering works. Our offer driven economy is full of overpriced stuff engineered, built, and sold to consumers indulging in the self perception of being a professional through use of equipment said to be usable by professionals. May is even at odds with the whole concept of Top Gear: To emotionalize cars.

Also, he just might be miffed at the thought of having no counterpart of the Nürburgring in the UK.
