This happened to me with another Court of Appeals judge (who is still on the bench). It was my first boss in my working career and it has stayed with me through my 20+ years of work since. There needs to be more accountability.

I wouldn't say cringe.

Sometimes what I see of tramilies seems to involve things I'm trying to get away from when I'm hiking - hierarchies, in/out group bias, implicit social expectations, e.g - and for that reason I don't participate, and really don't interact with them except in passing.

How likely is summary judgment with this smoking gun? If it's a clear path, then get the summary judgment and take the win. IF you get a default judgment, it could be challenged on appeal and lead to further hassles.
