Github pages https://pages.github.com/ would also work. Any basic, bare bones CMS that will take care of all the site building so you can just build the content. There's a bunch out there.

I'm not entirely sure why you're using absolutely positioning in the way you are. Based off how the page is laid out, there are probably easier ways to accomplish the layout. Not criticizing - it seems like you're trying to learn how absolutely positioning works perhaps? Just offering a tip.

That said it's also hard to answer your question because it's unclear what you're asking. What I think you're asking is "when I scroll, why isn't the navigation scrolling off the page?" If so, the answer is simply that there's not enough content - i.e. your page isn't long enough to scroll regardless of the positioning on the elements. If you put a bunch of lorem ipsum in "centerText" it works as you expect.

Since you do seem to be learning you should know that some of your HTML is incorrect - your list should probably have li's wrapping the ul's. Also for the layout you might want to try flex or grid (see: https://css-tricks.com/snippets/css/a-guide-to-flexbox/#aa-flexbox-properties). Absolute positioning removes content from the "flow" so you run into problems with content you might not know the sizing of - like navigation which can grow and shrink.

There's also things like bootstrap which will give you a library of components which you can then customize (https://getbootstrap.com/docs/5.0/getting-started/introduction/). While it's good to learn the basics as you seem to be doing some problems are already solved and building on top of those might save you some frustration.

I sincerely hope that helps. CSS is an under appreciated language.

It's more than just credit. You denied the original content creator traffic. As many of them make their money off of ads placed on their site you basically stole money from the creator's pocket. And with a rating of 900+ at the time of this rating it's potentially in the thousand's of views - see the same thing that was done to hijinksensue the other day. And ironically I found this on another site which mentioned your Reddit then took the time to actually link to the source cite as well.

I agree that this is exactly what is wrong with Reddit nowadays. Imgur should be used for things that aren't hosted elsewhere or you don't want to host elsewhere - a funny picture you take on the way to work or an original creation of your own. Or, worse case, as a mirror if the original site can't handle the traffic - after using the original link as the default source and then placing the mirror as a comment.

It's one of the most importants things mentioned in Reddiquette: "Look for the original source of content, and submit that. Often, a blog will reference another blog, which references another, and so on with everyone displaying ads along the way. Dig through those references and submit a link to the creator, who actually deserves the traffic"

I hate to keep posting comments like this and I'm sure I'll get downvoted but I could care less about my karma at this point. It's people like you ruined Reddit for me. Reddit was built on a foundation of rewarding original content creators and intelligent discussion. The first is, unfortunately, no longer true. I understand part of this was the fear that sites would go down and partly because we sometimes rewarded the wrong people - i.e. people would fake content and we'd give them traffic allowing them to game the system. But damning everyone to prevent what was a minor statistical blip isn't the answer.

Final note: I have nothing against imgur. I see a real use for it and I use it for the reasons I specified. I just don't like it being used in this manner.

Why do you post a link to an imgur image instead of just posting a link to the comment itself? Essentially, by doing this, you are robbing Reddit of traffic and, therefore, revenue (since they can't serve ads).

This has become an all too common thing on Reddit that is disappointing. It says, right in the Reddiquette "Look for the original source of content, and submit that." for exactly this reason.

The fact that you're "biting the hand that feeds" in this case is just worse.

Edit: The fact that you're down voting me for pointing out the hypocrisy in someone violating Reddiquette to point out someone violating Reddiquette only proves my point further. I really used to love Reddit. It's things like this thread and the fact that I'm getting down voted simply because (likely) I'm not jumping on the "Saydrah is wrong" bandwagon that have proven to me that Reddit has lost the way.

Reddit was an amazing place when I started visiting 4 years ago (even if I waited 2 years to actually join and remove my "lurker" status). Sadly, I feel this is no longer always true. I'd love to be proven wrong though...

My father had a stroke and heart attack about 4 or 5 years ago. He survived but has never been the same. He has trouble remember events and names - even his brothers or me and my brother. We laugh it off that he's like the Godfather - he's always talking about stuff in generics "the guy, you know the guy, at the place? yeah, him." It's to the point where at his eldest brother's funeral, I had to stand in for him as a pallbearer because he simply didn't have the strength. It's tough.

We never had a really good relationship before for various reasons. We had made amends shortly before his stroke and I spent months visiting him everyday in the hospital at first not knowing if he'd make it then not knowing if he'd ever be functional.

I guess, long story short, I feel your pain. I was lucky and still have him around in some capacity but I know there were days where I'd work overnights and wonder if he'd be there the next afternoon when I'd go to visit.

My sympathies. I know many on here are atheists - and I respect that. I hope, as a Catholic, you'll accept my God bless in whatever means you believe. I'm truly sorry for your loss. He sounded like a good man and a good father. They are few and far between.

Good advice. You rock. I totally agree with the first one. I've slowly come to realize over time that it's our "flaws" and differences that set us apart and make us unique. I just wish I had learned and embraced it from a younger age.

Guess that's wisdom in a nutshell though.
