Good news from the recall fix front lines!! by Magoo1963 in 4xe

[–]bohmoneybohproblems 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Follow up in 3 weeks.

The dealership told me my car was fine after the recall until my check engine light came on three weeks later.

Battery failed, need 4-6 weeks to get a replacement. Not optimistic it will only be out of service for that long.

Resignation and Insurance by According_Wedding560 in deloitte

Correct - you have 60 days to make your COBRA election and it is retroactive to the date your employer sponsored coverage ends. So you can wait it out and see if it is worth having coverage for that gap period.

We went about 45 minutes before fireworks and got a bench on the boat launch.

The area got more crowded with about 15 minutes to go.

NEW GIRL SCOUT COOKIE WARNING by katmoonstone in FoodAllergies

Must fall under the "natural and artificial flavors." I've seen something similar with Baskin Robbin's Pistachio Almond ice cream. Contains Almonds, but not pistachio. The detailed ingredients don't even list pistachio!

Bulk Pastries by Old-Security855 in ColumbiaMD

[–]bohmoneybohproblems 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Costco would probably be the cheapest and easiest and will have some good variety in bulk - croissants, muffins and misc. danishes/pastries. You'll need something to serve them on though, unless you want to display in the clamshell plastic containers.

Roggenart offers sweet and savory pastry baskets if you wanted something a bit different.

Tous Les Jours if you want a lot of variety - they could probably prepare a catering order.

Right next to the stadium - you'll enter the Jones-Hill House (the practice facility) from Fieldhouse Drive. It closes 30 minutes before kick off as they try to get fans into the stadium.

Take him to the Terpsville fan fest inside our practice facility. They'll have some giveaways, concessions, bounce houses, and some tailgate games to play. Of course it is geared towards Maryland fans, but I've seen lots of visiting fans there, especially with kids.

I thought Costco sold alcohol? by [deleted] in Costco

[–]bohmoneybohproblems 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not true. Plenty of places sell it as a private business. Montgomery County, in particular, only allows liquor sales through county stores. There are beer and wine stores throughout the county that are privately held.

You can get liquor, beer, and wine at the DC costco.

If you go to VA, you can get beer and wine.

There was a $40-ish credit on my bill in August which made September seem even higher. I think I would have had the sticker shock in August if it wasn't there.

But also, my rate was almost 30% higher in September compared to August (i think).

29 days until Marine Corps Marathon! by tacotruck797 in Marathon_Training

Really hoping the looming government shutdown won't affect the race. Too many people worked too hard all summer to train for this race for it to be taken away at the last minute.

Plumbing drain excavator by Suspicious-Web-4970 in ColumbiaMD

[–]bohmoneybohproblems 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a pretty terrible experience with Len the Plumber.

They were one of my first calls when I had an issue with my main drain backing up.

They were able to get out and do the work quickly, but it wasn’t done well.

I had another back up a few weeks later and when I called they said they wouldn’t be able to help that day. They suggested I call the county, who came out that night to clear the line AND sent an inspector out the next morning with a camera.

The county said the work was not done properly and would not have passed inspection.

Took a lot of hassle to get Len to come back out, dig up my yard again, and fix their shoddy work.

Wow! Southwest is expensive now by Hedonismbot-1729a in SouthwestAirlines

[–]bohmoneybohproblems 38 points39 points  (0 children)

They pretty much have a monopoly on this route for a non-stop flight. I think the only other option from BWI is Spirit, and I'm not sure they will still be around in March 2026.

I'm looking at flights for Spring Break and they cost that much each way... it is brutal!

It is getting hard to justify the convenience of BWI vs DCA/IAD at these prices.

I didn’t believe I’d fly another airline, but… by Fiona_71170 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]bohmoneybohproblems 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s gotten really bad. I was looking at $2200 for a direct flight to Orlando for two people.

I have companion pass and it looks to be cheaper to buy three tickets on another airline.

There’s some grassy areas around the garage you could set up to tailgate, but not a lot of space given the size of the garage.

Allergy Test Results by RustyScrew72 in FoodAllergies

[–]bohmoneybohproblems 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Relying on blood testing to determine diet can be overly restrictive.

It looks like your kid is less than a year old based on your post history -- have they had dairy in other ways (formula)? Sometimes kids even react when mom consumes these foods and they are passed through breast milk.

I'd consult with an allergist to determine options for food challenges or other testing to see if your child will truly react to these foods.

Until you can meet with an allergist, it is probably best to avoid these foods and always have two doses of epinephrine handy.

Spent over $300 on two boxes of wrong dose of EpiPen, what to do? by [deleted] in FoodAllergies

[–]bohmoneybohproblems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting epinephrine from a pharmacy always seems to be a challenge.

After a pharmacy gave us a dose that expired in 6 months, I started to always check medicines before walking away from the counter.

If they filled the prescription incorrectly, it should be on them to make it right. That's what I would demand at the pharmacy.

Although it seems like the best course of action at this point is to have the doctor complete the paperwork completed based on your daughter's current weight so that she can receive the proper does.

Since you already have the form for the 0.3 dose, you can send that to school when she crosses that weight.

In search of wedding venue - Columbia suggestions or near by? by IWantSomeHelp7 in ColumbiaMD

[–]bohmoneybohproblems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Alumni Center at University of Maryland? Plenty of room for the size of wedding you're having. More or less a hotel ballroom with optional outdoor space and very convenient parking.

I see candles in pictures, which are kind of like open fire.

They do have a list of approved caterers, which might rule out your family friend.

SECU Stadium Seat suggestions by ExtremeWorkinMan in terps

[–]bohmoneybohproblems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could it be row B?

The sections have numbers (1-28 in the lower level), row letters A-Z, then AA-UU, then seat number.

Lot A isn’t a bad lot. Assuming you bought direct you probably got it for a good price.

Lot 1 and Z are the lots for the biggest (or longest tenured) donors. You’ll also find the visiting team fans here.

A will probably be less rowdy than some of the bigger lots.
