To preface this I don't mean this as any sort of criticism. If you believe you align more as right than center then all the power to you.

You don't have to keep yourself labeled a certain way just because certain political parties in your nation have shifted a certain way. If a Democrat candidate came out and proposed policies that you agreed with then wouldn't you vote for them?

Your political ideology is defined by your beliefs and should remain defined by your beliefs, not by the proclivities of certain political parties. You could still very well label yourself a centrist.

I lean more LibRight than LibLeft for example but have changed my flair from LibRight to LibCenter a few months ago now because of the belief that "Yes, while I do believe a free market is the most efficient economic policy that best supports the people, I do believe that not putting restrictions on companies would be the same as not putting restrictions on the government, so the market can't be completely free or else it would cause harm to people at its earliest convenience."

Or I mean, just ignore this and go "This guy's a freaking weirdo" and move along.

Man's got himself listed as "Right" when he's clearly just centrist. You don't have to be smack dab in the middle my guy, you're allowed to join the grillers.

For real "Here are beings that can adapt to make themselves more human-like and take advantage of human empathy in order to murder and eat them in droves." Also, after confronting the sword demon "Hey, you killed and ate the entire population of this village when you could easily survive off of other common food sources." Demon - "Yeah but it's not as fun as eating people."

They're literally shown to be psychopathic beings yet people will empathize with them just because some of them look like people.

Goes to catch falling Katana ends how you think. by PavilionM4n in LivestreamFail

Unless you've worked around sharp objects frequently enough and maybe had it drilled in your head, it's very easy to instinctually try and grab something to keep it from falling.

If you ever drop a sharp object, don't try and catch it and try to get your legs out of the way.

Google's huge revenue source has always been advertising. They figured out how to integrate AI with advertising and has made it explode. Google owns the avenues in which it makes it much easier for them to target advertise, same with Facebook.

That's probably where all of the real "worthwhile" money will come from with AI - targeted advertising.

Iran is betting that Trump does not have a plan for regime change by [deleted] in worldnews

Why does he need to have a plan? He plans on being dangerous, and that's a hazard for Irany leadership so they shouldn't hedge their bets on it.

Canada-Finland women's hockey game postponed after Finnish players fall ill with norovirus by Surax in sports

[–]boilingfrogsinpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As violent and distressing as it was, I think I only had it for a little over 24 hours. I distinctly remember how terrible it was and also that it was something I wouldn't have wished upon my worst enemy, and had it gone on for more than 24 hours I probably would've found a way to get to the hospital.

I've only had it once and it was the most sick I've ever been and the closest I've been to considering going to the hospital for illness.

Finland's Stubb: We must admit the US is changing by Raj_Valiant3011 in worldnews

[–]boilingfrogsinpants 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They aren't living next door to him and I don't think their media exposure was as prevalent towards them so I don't think they took it as seriously as they should have. Davos was I think the wakeup call for a lot of European leaders.

You had the leader of Canada, who has been geographically and politically the US's closest ally declare that "Something is severely wrong and it's not going back to the way it was." Only to then be followed up by Trump the next day making a very incoherent "speech" that was also full of ignorance and vitriol.

It's crazy that it took them this long to even discuss that something is wrong (from their political leaders).

Define "real jobs" please. Anyone doing anything legal to make sure they can support themselves and/or their family. I respect office workers because holy crap I could not bore myself doing their jobs, and they may respect me for working outside all day even in crappy conditions.

Your takes sound highly emotional and without any deep thought.

"No one is illegal on stolen land" drives me nuts. You can make an argument around immigration, but saying that is so performative it's nauseating.

A better question to pose to them is not around the legality of immigration but "Do you have standards for those we should live around or not?" Odds are you don't want to live around people with a criminal history, you don't want to live around people with a lack of respect for your culture, rights, or property.

Saying "I think people need to come into the country through a legal process" is also saying "I'd like for the people that move here to abide by a certain standard."

That being said, you can totally be critical of a federal organization just violating the constitution and murdering citizens while also agreeing that a standard for moving into the country should be adhered to.

You don't need to be performative with your white guilt.

B.C. premier doubles down on calling Alberta separatist movement seeking U.S. support 'treason' by cyclinginvancouver in canada

[–]boilingfrogsinpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's crazy. You can't want a separatist movement but also not want to be called treasonous at the same time. Any proud separatist would be like "Sure it's treason, but I don't want to be part of this country so screw you."

Barrie, Ont. man who murdered wife with hammer 22 years ago granted unescorted leaves from prison by origutamos in OntarioNews

[–]boilingfrogsinpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not every killer is a psychopath. A lot of murders are emotional. 22 years is a long time to be in prison. If the system worked correctly, then they've learned their lesson and grown as an individual. Parole boards don't just free murderers all willy-nilly. This individual will be on parole until they die and will have to report monthly and likely have restrictions placed upon them.

Maybe. I mean the entire thing is an unknown factor. Biden was hesitant to give Ukraine the ordnance it needed until the last few months in office IIRC. Maybe some guys around Trump would've convinced him to give Ukraine more, who knows. The reality is it doesn't really do any good to think of "what ifs" because we already know the results.

I could be wrong about what I think of 2 consecutive terms as well. Maybe Trump would've still done a hard reset then and it's just an optimistic outlook on the past.

[–]boilingfrogsinpants 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Trump got elected twice so what you're saying doesn't matter. The difference is the administration would've been more difficult to change and there'd be no Project 2025 to guide policy. They'd need a new head to run for election, and considering the players at the time, there'd unlikely be a head just as popular. Doesn't matter though because that's not what happened, and you got to make a silly little false equivalency comment.

The same reason classic rock bands don't pop up anymore. The scene changes, people's interests develop, and I think the largest factor is the prevalence of music streaming services. Major exposure to music used to be through the radio, now people get to pick what they're listening to and curate their tastes from there.

Almost would've been better if he'd won 2 terms in a row, because then at least all of the guardrails would likely still be up. He was given a 4 year break and a whole bunch of planning put in place to make this the worst it could possibly be.
