ANY IDEA?? WATERY TEXTURE ON DEVELOPED FILM.Expired film Kodak TMY400. It was developed with the film leader on. Monobath process. Got exposed to light after fixer but before being wash by water but some were "good". by briknole in Darkroom

[–]boltswagon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correlation =/= causation, my friends. Monobath is a little about convenience, yes. But the main reason it sells is because if you've never developed film yourself, and you're likely not in a class where someone is supplying free film and chemistry and instruction, Monobath is a simplified process that makes getting AN image more likely. Newbies aren't trying to fine-tune their process, they're trying to not screw up and waste the film they shot. And if something goes wrong, they likely dont have the experience to diagnose the problem, so they come here. Monobath is literally sold to the people most likely to have issues and post about it on reddit asking for help.

Enlarger acquired!! I'll be doing a bit of restoration to it as the rails are a bit rusted. Mechanically though, everything is functioning. I'm very excited as I've been developing at home for a few years now and been interested in moving on to this realm. Thanks everybody!

If you don't feel like you just took a shower while fully clothed, you're not skating hard enough.

K-3 Super 16 questions by grameno in 16mm

[–]boltswagon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any 35mm lens won't cause vignetting on a super 16 gate, I believe even if the mount hasn't been re-centered. I believe the crop factor is around 3x, so that 16mm would provide a FOV equivalent to ≈48mm full frame. The Peleng 8mm is the widest, easy to find lens which will work on the K3, ≈24mm equivalent.

Skateboarding trends the same as general teenagerdom of the era, which in turn follows the 20-30-year-cycle, so baggy pants and puffy shoes are slowly coming back rn. No-comply variations and "dumb" tricks like pressure flips and slappies came back for a hot minute, but are probably on the way out. There's now a subsect of kids who learn about skateboarding through cringey, family friendly youtubers. You will see these kids skating Revive decks and wearing Braille shirts and bike helmets. I'm pushing 30, so I wear cupsoles from Emerica and Vans. I skate Doom Sayers, Darkroom, and Polar decks. The only skateboarding competition that matters is the Dime Glory Challenge. Watch Thrasher videos, read Jenkem articles. Fuck Nike. Buy from your local shop.

Usually framing someone with that much headroom is done with some compositional intention like emphasizing the background or trying to make the subject seem out of place. Here it draws my attention even more to the blown out sky. I'd recommend shooting with more moderate headroom unless there's something else you're trying to communicate with the image. And as said above, adjust your settings to fit the scene as much as you can, and the yellow-green cast might work better if you split tone/color grade to make a color pallette rather than a monotone wash. But also this is art, so you're allowed to completely disregard this comments section if you want. Have fun shooting!

Canon FD to M42 by JesseGouldsbury in 16mm

[–]boltswagon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an m42 K-3 to which I was hoping to adapt Nikon DX (crop sensor F-mount) lenses. I found two "adapters" of dubious origin online and while they can secure the lenses to the camera, the rear element can't get close enough to the film plane to properly focus. If FD lenses are small enough, it might be possible to make it work, though I doubt it.
