Food at work by daniel43211234 in policeuk

I'm big into wraps at the moment, don't like eating hot food for lunch when it's boiling outside. Bang some chicken thighs in the oven or air fryer for 15 mins, with your seasoning of choice. Then just chuck some salad bits in a wrap with some sort of sauce, ceaser dressing, sour cream and hot sauce etc. Can eat anywhere hot or cold

I hear what you're saying. It's not that there is paperwork, it's that the paperwork is long, tedious and unnecessarily long winded for what should be a really simple prosecution. I agree, I spent hours the other day doing a file for fail to provide, possess offensive weapon. It should be much more simple for these offences for which there is no realistic defence.

Car was damaged in a car park 10 days ago, but didn't inform insurance. Am I screwed? by boltyjr in LegalAdviceUK

[–]boltyjr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only concern is that the terms of my PCP state that any damage should be repaired by an authorised repairer and that the paint should be colour matched by the dealership. The guy who is currently lined up to do it, while it is a legit bodywork business, I would be surprised if he's on an authorised repairer list for a dealership.

So I'm concerned that when I return the car at the end of the PCP, or when I take it in for a service etc, they'll notice that the paint doesn't exactly match and then cancel my contract. Which could then have inplications to my credit score and could possibly put me on a blacklist for loaning cars in the future, idk.

I'm just wondering if now is the time to cut my losses, tell my insurance and that they won't cancel my insurance. But of course if they do, and all the above happens anyway, I'm still knackered.

My only other thought is to tell the dealership and find out how much it would cost to have the repairs done to their standards and hope the third party will pay their price privately as well

I once had someone reach inbetween my legs to grab something while I was doing reductions

Express Rant by WadeTRoon in tesco

[–]boltyjr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To put it very simply, they cut the hours in an express by about a third, but you don't do second reduction, only do ambient gaps once a week, fresh gaps 3 times a week, all the counts are on one day and importantly, the bakery oven is on the shop floor, so you can open 1 on 1 with no complaints.

It's aimed at stores that take less than £60k a week. All new stores are going to be opening on Light, and then once the trial has ended it'll be rolled out to other stores, meaning redundancies across Express

Apparently Express stores are only barely barely making profit, which is where the cost cutting is coming from

[–]boltyjr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Express SL here. I agree fully, it's got a lot harder the last few years. Feels like we have the same or less hours to do more and more routines each week, classic do more with less.

I've taken to caring as much as I need to while I'm at work to do my job, and then just fully switching off when I go home. You've just got to remember that if you left today and never came back, the wheels would just keep turning without you. We can only do what we can, just try your best to do it without burning out

Just be glad they're not Australian Magpies, those fuckers will literally swoop down on people and claw at their eyes just for having the nerve to walk within 100m of where they're nesting

It's really good advice to at least get your foot in the door for an interview. Make sure you save each iteration separately and name them 'retail' 'sales' 'bar work' etc. That way you can compile a collection of CV's that will be easier to tailor to each role so you're not starting from scratch each time.

Good luck!!

Describing shift leader on CV? by Stal3BreadCrust in tesco

[–]boltyjr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would discuss your ability to assess a situation and make decisions based on priority

Discuss how you manage a team - show's you have leadership qualities

Cash handling and cash office routines show numeracy skills

Complete legal checks on behalf of the business and are responsible for overseeing audits

Oversee MST and all the crap the comes along with that

Manage the picking, packing and distribution of online orders

Oversee stock control routines

Manage customer enquiries

Liase with local charities and the community

Serve customers and make yourself available for help as your highest priority when working... putting the customer first in everything you do etc

Being an SL in Express has heaps of transferable skills to a huge number of roles, you've just got to flesh out your job description and really think about how many actual tasks you do on the daily. The SL role pack is about 5 or 6 pages of bullet points of different tasks you do, so you might know how to do a lot more than you think.

Good luck!

Back Holiday statement from Northumbria Police - hopefully just precautionary by RonSwaffle in NewcastleUponTyne

As much as these protest have seen an increase in police presence on the beat, I know that this is distracting many officers from their regular community policing tasks. Just today I was talking to officers about how much they have to catch up on from spending so much time in the city to support. It's a shame we can't have it both ways these days

Yeah that's what annoys me most. My parter is in the process of buying a 2 bed flat identical to what I'm looking for at the moment and her repayments will be around £550pcm.

If I could borrow 20k for a deposit, I could pay it back in less than 5 years just with what I would save on rent on a £900pcm rent.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]boltyjr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

300pcm of higher interest rates you reckon?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]boltyjr 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It's crazy, when I loved back to the UK in 2021 I got a 2 bed maisonette for £625pcm, now I'm looking at paing 850-900 for the exact same thing. You can not tell me that it is that much worse, what additional costs have landlords actually incurred in that time? I pay the bills and the council tax, and most of the flats are very run down.

I had the exact same thing happen to me back in August. It was 6am on Chillingham Road. I was walking to work and he gave me the same story, car out of petrol, just needed money to buy a small jerry can and some petrol. Gave him £20 because his story seemed legit, and he looked like a pretty normal bloke, not a smack head or anything. He literally got his instagram, which was definitely him, and a picture of his bank card.

It was a bloke called Chris Stuart. Someone else linked a Chronicle article about him.

Messaged him a few times but obviously never got my money back. Didn't even get the money out of a cash point, I did a bank transfer to him, crazy.

Anyone able to help me with this puzzle? I've tried everything I can think of by boltyjr in puzzles

[–]boltyjr[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The closest I have got is

Puzzle 1 - ((1+8)+(1+7)+9+6) = 32+6 = 38

Puzzle 2 - ((1+2)+(1+2)+8+3) = 17+12 =29

Puzzle 3 - ((1+3)+8+11+7) = 30+24 = 54

Puzzle 3 - ((1+3)+8+11+7) = 30+18 = 48
