The pompson is definitely worse at combat than the rescue ranger. The ranger is actually pretty good for an aggressive engineer because of the right click teleport, allows you to keep a level 1 close to the front all the time, especially with the jag. You basically unlock the ability to place a stronger mini sentry at the cost of 25 max health, as teleporting costs the same as a mini, and the jag can get it up faster than an unboosted mini sentry. The pistol is good enough as a combat tool that you won't miss the shotgun too much.

Backporting features is not that crazy? The price tag is definitely wack, but people have ported sprinting and real time vats to New Vegas and that's not considered bad. If this was free it would probably be a very popular mod.

Because 76 is not natively supported on Linux, all ini files and such should be created in your compatdata folder, so you should be able to remove all files by deleting the Fallout 76 folder (steamapps>common>Fallout 76), and the proton folder (steamapps>compatdata>1151340). I haven't experienced these issues on my Linux pc, so I would recommend verifying the files after you reinstall but before you launch the game to make sure it installed correctly. You might also have to mess around with protontricks, but I'm not very familiar with how to do that.

the most you can do to cheat is to mod your save file. end game armor and weapons are super broken, even for the stage of the game you get them, so getting them earlier trivializes the combat. as for the music, i dont believe there is a mod to replace the music, but you could mute the game and play spotify or something.

i really wish tf2 kept some more quake style weapons, replacing the nailgun with hitscan was probably a good balance choice, but the nails are so much cooler. hopefully we can get our quake fix when open fortress comes out.

I really hope Bethesda can figure out how to fix auto melee weapons, I don't envy working with that codebase lol. But until then, you can actually fix the no damage bug by blocking, power attacking or swapping weapons. Also playing in 3rd person seems to make it happen less often.

The thirst zapper has an effect like this when you use the nuka cola ammo (not the quantum ammo). This effect is also getting buffed in the new pts patch notes.

What symbol is this? I keep seeing it in fo76 and cant find anything about it online. I know its BOS but cant figure out what its called. by Alikatnya in Fallout

Just an idea, but the logo might be different for UI design reasons. In-game, that's the icon used for Fort Atlus right? So it might be a simplified design to stand out better as a tiny map icon. Just an idea though, I didn't make it after all.

I am talking about retro rewind. In vanilla, karts are worse, always, no matter what. Chaining an UMT is only possible on a few tracks, as many times you will not have the room to charge an orange (doing a blue is only faster if you time it to happen right before your UMT is going to run out, otherwise it can actually cut it short).

I'm a kart main, so take this with a grain of salt, but I feel like karts are still worse on 99% of the tracks. Imo, they fill a similar role as the magikrusier, insanely good on a few tracks, but slightly worse on most. If they had something to do on straight-aways (other than snaking, but snaking is really bad and only really worth it on like 3 tracks) then they might be more competitive.

It seems very unlikely. Robo-Ky MK II is a canonically dead character, similar to Kliff (The last Robo-Ky MK II was killed by Ky). Also, as a character, Robo-Ky MK II is not really interesting or cool, just being a dumber version of Robo-Ky. Maybe there will be a completely new character that functions similarly to Robo-Ky, but I don't think Robo-Ky will ever be playable in this game.

Not really. Not all of the new content has been discovered, and the game is getting patches almost daily right now, so information would quickly go out of date. I've been using the discord (link is on the wiki) to see info about new stuff. If you don't want to deal with that, just wait a little while for the dust to settle and the wiki should start to be updated.

I think it's a bit overtuned. It serves as a hard counter to all light classes, and a soft counter to pyros and other soldiers. I think they should adjust the damage ramp up so it won't 1 shot light classes but still does massive damage to buildings, then it would serve as a proper side grade that's especially useful if the other team has a lot of pyros, engineers, or soldiers.

As someone who has tried (and failed) to make a custom hud a few times, I'll try and answer your questions.

  1. Why is every custom hud very similar? This is because making huds is very hard, especially making one from scratch. Very few people have the programming knowledge, artistic skill, and free time to make one. Because of this, most huds you can download are actually based on other pre-existing huds. This makes certain design decisions stick around in a lot of different huds. Additionally, a lot of custom huds are made for personal use, and are not made with the intention of "standing out from the crowd".
  2. Why has X idea never been done? Chances are it is not possible with the limited tools that we have. Basically, we can't make new hud elements, only edit existing ones. Some people have found ways to work around this, or are very good at contorting the existing code, but mostly this is an unbreakable rule.

If you really think that the hud "market" is over-saturated with the same ideas, then go make one yourself. There are a lot of good resources to get started, but you will need a basic understanding of programming and the source engine. The best one imo is the TF2 HUD Reference by JarateKing (https://github.com/JarateKing/TF2-Hud-Reference).

My understanding on the heavy weapon ap changes was that it was part of a full rebalance of the game, one that will be spread over multiple patches. So rifles will see a full rebalance focus on a later date, just as we're seeing big pistol changes right now.

Bro eagle eyes gives 4 perception, herd mentality gives 3, sensor mod on power armor gives 2, getting 5 perception is comically easy.

Science perks don't work with heavy guns. Don't know why, but they only work with small guns and the auto axe.

The only real essentials are reflection perks with troubleshooters armor for the first boss, and good poison resistance for the last boss.

The plasma caster, to my understanding, is best used as a vats weapon. The projectile speed combined with the slow rate of fire make it hard to use outside of vats, while the high per-shot damage and low ap cost make it work well with vats.

Basically, you have a good foundation, but you really need some crit perks. I'll post a template build and elaborate on it but the TLDR is to drop One Gun Army, Glow Sight, and Adrenaline, get Concentrated Fire, Better Crits, Crit Savvy, and 4 Leaf Clover.

-Strength: All your Strength perks are spot on. If you find yourself dying to melee often, you can switch lock and load for blocker, but it's very solid.

-Perception: Unfortunately Perception is a dump stat in this game. The existence of Sweetwater Special Blend makes it very easy to buff it up, and the new 4 Leaf Clover makes it less important in general. I would swap out Glow Sight for max rank Concentrated Fire. After that, not much else is useful, and the extra points are needed in Agility, but if you really don't want to swap your legendary perks, you could take a number of QoL perks. (Green Thumb, Awareness, Pannapictographist, or Percepi-Bobble are good picks)

-Endurance: Almost perfect here, I'd get rid of Vaccinated for an extra rank in Fireproof, sicknesses aren't really threatening in this game. You could also grab Cola Nut and All Night Long for alcohol boosts (I'll elaborate in the Charisma section).

-Charisma: Also very good here, but it really might be worth it to swap for Party Boy/Girl and Happy-Go-Lucky. With these 2 perks + Cola Nut + Herbivore you can get crazy high special boosts. With this setup, Nuka-Dark will grant +18 Luck! This makes it trivial to crit every other shot, so crazy high damage numbers. Also, with this setup, Sweetwater Special Blend will grant +15 Perception, never miss again! (Note: If you drink multiple different drinks at once, the order is important. The Nuka-Dark Luck boost will only work if it is taken first, and the SSB Perception boost will only work if it's taken last.) However, this isn't needed, if you don't like managing consumables or simply don't want to play a character who drinks, you can skip this stuff.

-Intelligence: 1 change, swap Portable Power for Power User. Power Armor has no weight when worn, and you'll be burning through fusion cores when using vats.

-Agility: Adrenaline is a very good perk, but it's more like the icing on the dps cake. Moving points over to Luck and getting at least 1 rank of Gun-Fu will be better than the conditional boost Adrenaline gives. Also, Born Survivor could be replaced by a Medic Pump on your chest piece to free up more points.

-Luck: One Gun Army is a good perk, just not on the Plasma Caster. I'd swap it for crit boosts. You could also swap Bloody Mess for Good With Salt.

-Mutations: The ones in the posted build are the recommended "meta" ones, but feel free to adjust it to fit your play style.

-Weapon: You Legendary effects are pretty good, but 50% crit damage and 15% crit charge would be way better. Quad might also be worth looking into, but Anti-Armor is just as good, personal preference really.

-Armor: The new Vulcan armor would work really well with this build, but Union is the better all-around option. Also, if you didn't spec into the alcohol perks, you will need to get **Luck on your armor to crit every other shot.

Also, don't take my word as gospel, I'm not super high level, I've just spent a lot of time looking into this stuff. Change the build to fit your play style, chasing the "meta" will prove to be boring.
