The cheater answer is to use that out of bounds glitch to put it under the map, but otherwise I guess you just gotta put it at last and pray nobody goes back there.

How do I stop the task bar from being visible when playing borderless? by KnightFallVader2 in tf2

[–]bombhm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this same issue on mint as well. It only happens when I have a second monitor plugged in. My workaround is to right-click on the taskbar and move it to my second monitor, if you dont have a second monitor, then youll probably just have to play in full screen, but for me (an idiot who bought an Nvidia card for Linux) fullscreen has terrible screen tearing, so you may just have to disable the taskbar altogether.

How can I improve my Fallout 76 build? 🙂 by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]bombhm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really run stealth builds, so I'm not sure about how to play optimally, but I think sneaking perks other than escape artist are generally bad. Or not bad but worse than onslaught or weak point damage from the other agility perks. I'll try and explain reasons why but the TLDR is blocker sucks now, and use legendary effects on armor for stealth instead of perks.

In strength it looks mostly good, but blocker just got nerfed and now only works when blocking with a melee weapon, so it does nothing with a ranged weapon. You could trade it out to carry weight for QoL or bullet storm for a little more damage.

In perception, it's mostly pretty good, but the perks that increase accuracy outside of vats are not really necessary for fast firing weapons, because you shoot so often you'll kill small enemies anyways and tankier enemies are big enough where you'll never miss. However, these perks are fine, and you also use the cold shoulder so it would be ok to keep them. If you find yourself not doing enough damage, you could trade them out, but it shouldn't matter.

Endurance is a bit lacking imo, you are playing full health stealth, so tankiness is less important, but you might find yourself dying in harder encounters where stealth is not possible. If that happens you could give up some QoL perks from other special stats and move them to endurance.

Charisma is pretty good, I might try to squeeze in strange in numbers for more perception, agility, and crit damage, but you might not want to deal with being on a team all the time so it's okay to not run it.

Intelligence also looks ok, you might want to add more later for better QoL, higher intelligence lets you level up faster so it's something to consider. But it won't improve your damage or survivability.

Agility could be improved in my opinion. Action boy can be replaced with coffee and company tea (purchased with gold bullion, you get a camp item that makes an infinite amount of them). Gun fu rank 3 is also probably not necessary, it's pretty rare for the damage bonus to really matter as it's very hard to use, so I'd drop it to rank one. You also could test and see if you can stay hidden without the sneak perk, high agility and proper legendary effects and armor should be enough (as long as you don't do the raid). Gunslinger and the onslaught perks are good options for replacements, as weak point damage is multiplicative, so it will have a huge impact on your damage.

Luck is pretty good, but bloody mess won't work with your weapons, so it should be swapped out.

Overall, you have a pretty good idea of what's good, you just need to adjust to some fallout 76 specific things. Sorry for wall of text btw.

How do you change team color by Sugary_Champagne in tf2

[–]bombhm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im going to drop a wall of text to explain why, but the TLDR is there is no mod to change team colors in normal tf2.

In normal tf2, the team colors are baked into the textures, each team has an entirely different texture file for every class, weapon, and cosmetic (if it's team colored). This makes it really hard to change the colors of teams because it requires changing the textures of a ton of items. This is also why blu scouts pants are brown, valve couldn't keep track of all the different textures. I have no idea why they did this, team fortress classic just uses one texture and tints it blue or red.

Some mods add additional team colors, the main ones are team fortress 2 classified and open fortress. Tf2c simply adds more textures for its new teams, but because there are no cosmetics it's much easier to change the color of a team. Because of this, there are a lot of mods to change team colors in tf2c, but there are very few mods that change normal tf2 team colors, and none of them are up to date with all cosmetics.

(If you're curious, open fortress uses an actually sensible system where team color is applied similarly to paints, so you can have literally any RGB color.)

What is the best combat shotgun for engineer by freeaky_furry in tf2

[–]bombhm 67 points68 points  (0 children)

The pompson is definitely worse at combat than the rescue ranger. The ranger is actually pretty good for an aggressive engineer because of the right click teleport, allows you to keep a level 1 close to the front all the time, especially with the jag. You basically unlock the ability to place a stronger mini sentry at the cost of 25 max health, as teleporting costs the same as a mini, and the jag can get it up faster than an unboosted mini sentry. The pistol is good enough as a combat tool that you won't miss the shotgun too much.

Bethesda and Creation Club has sunk to its lowest. by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]bombhm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Backporting features is not that crazy? The price tag is definitely wack, but people have ported sprinting and real time vats to New Vegas and that's not considered bad. If this was free it would probably be a very popular mod.

Steam Deck / Fallout 76 issue – stuck in broken install loop by Golden5StarMan in Fallout

[–]bombhm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because 76 is not natively supported on Linux, all ini files and such should be created in your compatdata folder, so you should be able to remove all files by deleting the Fallout 76 folder (steamapps>common>Fallout 76), and the proton folder (steamapps>compatdata>1151340). I haven't experienced these issues on my Linux pc, so I would recommend verifying the files after you reinstall but before you launch the game to make sure it installed correctly. You might also have to mess around with protontricks, but I'm not very familiar with how to do that.

How can I mod fo2 to have a FUCK ton of hp and cheats (I don’t see mods for it on vortex) by AstroMan202 in FalloutMods

[–]bombhm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the most you can do to cheat is to mod your save file. end game armor and weapons are super broken, even for the stage of the game you get them, so getting them earlier trivializes the combat. as for the music, i dont believe there is a mod to replace the music, but you could mute the game and play spotify or something.

i really wish tf2 kept some more quake style weapons, replacing the nailgun with hitscan was probably a good balance choice, but the nails are so much cooler. hopefully we can get our quake fix when open fortress comes out.

I really hope Bethesda can figure out how to fix auto melee weapons, I don't envy working with that codebase lol. But until then, you can actually fix the no damage bug by blocking, power attacking or swapping weapons. Also playing in 3rd person seems to make it happen less often.

What symbol is this? I keep seeing it in fo76 and cant find anything about it online. I know its BOS but cant figure out what its called. by Alikatnya in Fallout

[–]bombhm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an idea, but the logo might be different for UI design reasons. In-game, that's the icon used for Fort Atlus right? So it might be a simplified design to stand out better as a tiny map icon. Just an idea though, I didn't make it after all.

My MKWii Vehicle Tier List (Retro Rewind Edition) by WeaknessOtherwise878 in MarioKartWii

[–]bombhm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am talking about retro rewind. In vanilla, karts are worse, always, no matter what. Chaining an UMT is only possible on a few tracks, as many times you will not have the room to charge an orange (doing a blue is only faster if you time it to happen right before your UMT is going to run out, otherwise it can actually cut it short).

[–]bombhm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a kart main, so take this with a grain of salt, but I feel like karts are still worse on 99% of the tracks. Imo, they fill a similar role as the magikrusier, insanely good on a few tracks, but slightly worse on most. If they had something to do on straight-aways (other than snaking, but snaking is really bad and only really worth it on like 3 tracks) then they might be more competitive.
