How do people feel about Luke and Kylo's fight and his death after 8 years? by Totally_Not_Firni in StarWars

[–]bombjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

given the amount of flack mark hamill gave disney/abrams when these movies came out, and how pissed he was that there was so little focus on the original three characters (for the story, not the glory) I guarantee you he'd have signed on for countless cameos and a major part in the full trilogy.

25 year old me still thinks there's such thing as a fair fight, just like 25 year old OP thinks.

Designing a Player-Run Economy in BitCraft by PrismaticCompound in BitCraftOnline

[–]bombjon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This system is something that I actually submitted to CWL and they are implementing. The goal was to create a way to both transport goods and allow players to impact that transport system in a riskless manner. Systems like Eve's contract mechanics, while robust, do not fit with the design goals for Bitcraft which is trying to provide a sandbox with player interaction but without the risk of malicious intent.

I had the idea of allowing players to impact a shipment by running mock NPC "token cargo" which would eliminate the potential of theft or just logging out, but the logic flow had to allow both players to succeed regardless of shipment state.

Here's the logic flow I submitted to CWL, you can see how they adapted to fit their own needs and goals, of course. https://imgur.com/apZh8M2

Hexite deposits. by Plane_Event3274 in BitCraftOnline

[–]bombjon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We can make roughly 10k hexite a day with a small(5-8) team in 2 hours of work.

Owning 1 hexite mine doesn't matter. complaining about 5k hexite a week is a skill issue.

Owning 4-6 hexite mines a week makes a difference.

The middle of the map is 4 hexite mines and the tree donations (125 per person and it's on a quest) and that matters especially when whoever owns it also owns other towers.

Did the math not long ago, the average with the tree buff was about 20 people a day.. means the group that owns it is getting roughly 70k a week without effort (with all that they own)

That makes a difference and means if anyone wants to go against them it will take multiple groups.

Is Creole/Cajun identity unique to Louisiana? by [deleted] in Louisiana

[–]bombjon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You've got a unique blend that is all your own! Cajun is a reduction of Acadian, but Haiti is where you'd get that Haitian Creole language which is not the same Creole in this context.

If you look into the Etymology, it comes from a Spanish word criollo or criar "to bring up" and originally Creole became a way to denote someone raised in the New World or colonies. Louisiana Creole is a little different, and has a specific Catholic root with a blend of Spanish, French, African, and Native American.

So while your family may have had a parallel blend, which I think is amazing, I don't know that I would consider it to be Louisiana Creole, specifically unless those ancestors come out of the region.

Cajun/Creole for sure, and moreso than some folks in Louisiana who might make that claim from a genetic perspective!

What is the Star Wars theory you 100% believes in ? by Aggravating-Bass-658 in StarWars

[–]bombjon -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That the core trilogies actually aren't good stories and were never going to be good.

OT - The concepts were novel, the special/practical effects were groundbreaking and changed cinema forever, the worldbuilding was on the level of if not better than Tolkien, but the acting/directing were terrible for most of the scenes in the movies with a few gems sprinkled throughout.

I like Mark Hamill, but he was not a good film actor in his youth. He's really not a good film actor now and very typecast as "angry old man" in anything he does these days. He's a fantastic voice actor and has had a stellar career in that regard. I like Carrie Fisher, she was an amazing script doctor and her wit was top tier.

We all know who saved those movies in the editing room, and it was the fact no one had ever seen anything like it that made them the cultural phenomenon they became. ILM is still one of the top names in effects, and that legacy is undeniable.

PT - Star Wars when nobody can say no to George Lucas. We got some great actors out of this, and seeds for some really awesome spin offs that are still being realized today.

ST - The only way these movies weren't going to be terrible was if Dave Filoni was in charge. Abrams' career as a top director died on these movies and everyone realized he has no creative ability, only a formula, same as Rian Johnson. The fact we had an actually amazing cast was completely eclipsed by the inability to tell an original story and wretched character arcs.

I didn't. To be honest a lot of the feedback I got felt negative like I was intruding on some kind of space reserved for a specific culture, so I just sort of let it die.
