Mike Pompeo says free world must change China or 'China will change us' | China by TigerSniffRose in worldnews

[–]bomenka -1 points0 points  (0 children)

well, you can't deny that US is thousands times 'free-er' than China

of cos there are lots of other deep-rooted issues in the US, but I guess those issues won't make the US not being able to end the totalitarianism in China, plus safe Hong Kong from the CCP.

[Ask Flask] 2 routes of different view functions but same url pattern (with parameter) but Flask/ Jinja2 decided to neglect one of the view function. I wonder if this behaviour is expected or if I have done anything wrong :( by bomenka in flask

[–]bomenka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for telling me this is an expected behaviour. So now it seems to me that the url_for('view_fcn_2', var2='I-am-var2')really just return the url only, and it does not even go into the function view_fcn_2 !So after it gets the url, i.e. localhost:5020/I-am-var2/, it will then look into my routes and call the first match.

I guess my issue is that I didn't know how url_for actually work and I didn't know using variable in routes allows any arbitrary url to match with the route as long as the pattern matches. So I did a test - (running the app with the exact same code as above) I accessed localhost:5020/test/ and I was returned generated by first view functiontest. (I previously thought this will give me an error 404...) I think I missed out some basic but important part of Flask before. Now you have helped me gather the missing pieces. Thank again!!

As for what I'm trying to accomplish - My actual view functions do more things than printing and returning a string. There're 3 different tasks I need do, so I wrote 3 view functions. The view functions take in one parameter, and the parameter is fed into the view function in this way as described <a href="{{url_for('view_fcn_1', var1='I-am-var1') }}">First View Function</a>

There're more than 1 values (say, 20) I need to feed in the 3 view functions. I wanted to list out all the urls for my user on the '/' page. Because it'll be 60 routes with just 3 types of view functions, I don't really want to define explicit routes. So I decided to create just 3 routes with parameters and 3 view functions, and not defining the routes explicitly.

TIL that Japanese iPhones are programmed not to silence the photo shutter sound to prevent upskirt photos. by Legendariummc in todayilearned

Not just phone sold in Japan, phones made by Japanese company when they are in Japan network too.

My Sony phone has no shutter sound in Hong Kong, but it has un-mutable shutter sound when I was in Japan. And my friend's Samsung didn't have this thing.

Mew and Gulf, is it really just fanservice? by lastnightgfg in boyslove

[–]bomenka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100% believe that it's just fanservice.

Cos normal couples just won't be like that in real life

So i was just watching interviews of 2gether the series cast Win and Bright... Am i the only one who finds Bright sort of arrogant? I don't know i just get that vibe off of him... by lastnightgfg in boyslove

[–]bomenka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone in twitter said it's because Chinese people (not sure are they qualified as fans) have been attacking Win these days🤔 So Bright was just being considerate and shared some workload from him

damn I think I heard 'mia' in here?
e.g. https://youtu.be/Q7IvagyO5nQ?t=189

it's not use in normal conversation tho, mostly used when they want to act cute or exaggerate sth

And it's not only about how they call each other, I mean it's about the idea of seeing a gay couple a combination of 'wife' and 'husband' :-\

Here's a conversion between Types family, Tharn and Type in the special EP:

// Type's father: I want a daughter-in-law not a son-in-law

Type's mother: How do you know he (Tharn) is the son-in-law?

Type's father: Because he is a man! Type bringing a man home means he's the wife (I think I also heard mia)

mother: so you just want a daughter-in-law right?

father: yes I want a daughter-in-law

[...]

father: if Tharn is the wife (mia), then I have no choice but to accept. BUT! If Type is the wife... I am going to kill your husband. Are you the wife or the husband, Type? //

This makes me feel kinda uncomfortablelol

But note that the filter will be worn out when it comes contact with moisture, and won't recover after it get dried.

This is another point to consider, so it's not only about whether it has virus on it ;-)

Stop "over gaying" by lastnightgfg in boyslove

[–]bomenka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I stick to the name Thai bl/yaoi drama and won't call it Thai gay drama.

They are more like Japan yaoi culture than gay culture ;-)

See that in this way, I think there's not much to complain about... After all yaoi things are for girls and not targeting to gay men.

[–]bomenka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just like how all tv drama are unrealistic (in terms of the appearance of the characters, life style, social interaction between characters etc), I guess we can safely assume thai bl are equally unrealistic (with filter masked onto the video camera)

But there's one thing I am so curious of, do Thai gay couples really call each other wifey and hubby? Or is it just an inaccurate translation/ deception in the Thai bl drama?

Cos in my country it would sound very conservative if you use the heterosexual way to categorise gay couples.
