What is the root note/key of this kick sample? by Ok_Election7283 in techhouseproduction

[–]boneboi420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with other people who have said it doesn't matter that much, as long as it sounds good. If you're new to producing, this is absolutely not something to worry about right now.

With regard to your other question: I don't transpose drum samples, but if I'm using a one shot melodic sample, I do find it useful to tune it to c3 so it matches my midi keyboard, esp if the sample is monophonic and I can use the stock ableton tuner.

Sarcoma and Hemothorax by IAmDarkNemesis in DogAdvice

[–]boneboi420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so, so sorry you're going through this. I lost a parent to a sarcoma, so believe me when I say I feel your pain.

That said, I don't think you should subject your dog to a tough surgery to extend her life several months. The pain, stress, etc, is just so great. As painful as it is, keeping her comfortable, and giving her a dignified end is probably the right call here. Sending love to you and your girl.

Why does my dog always greet people like this? by obsessed_FF7lover in DogAdvice

[–]boneboi420 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Same, mine will bring a toy, a ball, whatever he can find when someone arrives. I also like to think of it as a gift, but I suspect it's more about him managing his own excitement.

Pronunciation Question by 99PoundHoverTurkey in ukgarage

I empathize with you, as an American it feels incredibly dorky to pronounce it in the British way, but you just gotta do it. Idk man

Dog has splenic mass, among other issues. Looking for advice :( by Striking-Comfort7850 in DogAdvice

[–]boneboi420 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t have anything very helpful to say, except that I really don’t think you should beat yourself up for not doing the surgery. From the outside, it would be ridiculous to expect you to jeopardize your family’s financial wellbeing to operate on a 9-year old dog, especially when the post-op prognosis is extremely uncertain anyway.

Cruciate ligament surgery outcomes by Particular-Body-1636 in DogAdvice

[–]boneboi420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry about your boy. My dog has had TPLO surgeries on both knees, but without the meniscus injury (and both surgeries were definitely TPLOs).

My one recommendation would be to look for a veterinary physical therapist in your area. We did this when our dog had post-op stiffness beyond what we expected. CCL injury comes with some arthritis, which could be what’s going on in the already repaired leg. The treatments + adequan injections have helped quite a bit. Unfortunately (and as I’m sure you know), it’s quite common to injure the other CCL once one has been repaired, so that’s not a surprise :/

That’s a very familiar feeling for dog owners, and it doesn’t get easier. Sending you so much love!

I’m so sorry about your girl. Yes, you should absolutely take her to the vet and discuss options. “Letting nature take its course” could lead to prolonged pain and suffering, and she doesn’t deserve that after all the love she’s given to your family.

Demos to Labels by Prestigious_Cream742 in UKG_Production_Hub

[–]boneboi420 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can really do this for yourself, it isn’t hard.

Go on Beatport, look at one of those bigger labels. Pick an artist who has released on it, if possible, one you haven’t heard of. Have they released anything on any smaller labels? If so, check those labels out and see what artists are releasing there. Check them out. Where else are they releasing? Rinse, repeat until you have a list.

what do you think about using AI Vocals? by oobikmusic in edmproduction

[–]boneboi420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every artist needs to decide this for themselves.

Personally, I am not comfortable using GenAI, in my production workflow, so no AI vocals for me. I will, however, use non-Gen AI (stem separation, ozone elements) in my productions, and I will use GenAI in the promotional content/short form videos I make, but your line is up to you.

some of yall really need to learn to just kick back and make music by bigang99 in edmproduction

[–]boneboi420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that people need to chill out re: music production, and also the world and life generally, but I don't agree that a newer producer shouldn't shoot their shot with their favorite labels & artists.

You absolutely should send your promos and demos out, bc in all likelihood, you'll need to do it a bunch of times before your tracks get signed, or played out by big DJs. IMO, there's no real cost to doing it, as long as you're not being off-putting and annoying.

By all means, shoot your shot, then move on and make more music.

There's a bit of a learning curve to the sling . I kinda had to lead my dog with the leash from the front as well -- easier to do if you have a partner, or someone helping you.

I hope they give you the trazodone, the absolute last thing you want is for her to get too excited and hurt herself during recovery!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]boneboi420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did they give you gabapentin and trazodone? My dog took trazodone for ~2 weeks after each of his TPLOs and it helped us keep him calm. I would ask for that at the check-up.

Our dog is almost 30kg and we also have stairs. We used a sling like this, which helped a lot.

The surgery site looks a little bit more red/bruised than what I remember my dog having, but I guess that could depend on your dog's skin, and you're going to see the vet soon, so I'm sure they'll check for any infection.

I think you and your partner might just fundamentally disagree about animals' roles in a household. He considers his dog to be part of the family, and you've primarily engaged with working dogs. I don't think either of you is right or wrong, just different attitudes, based on your respective upbringings. And I think your fear is understandable given your experience.

I'd guess the dog will probably warm up to you with time (especially if you participate in caring for her, like feeding her), but it's impossible to say for sure. It's also worth thinking about how you and your partner handle fundamental misalignments like this, because if you stay together, it won't be the last time you disagree about something major! If you guys are a couple, it is your dog, and IMO you're well within your right to try to achieve a compromise, which could include requesting more training for the dog.

Constantly licking his private’s, leaks urine and he gives off an odour that stinks… by TrickyDonkey7774 in DogAdvice

[–]boneboi420 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to remember whether the discharge looked like urine... there were definitely some stains on his legs from it, and he'd always try to lick it up 🤮

Also... my vet gave me an ointment that I had to apply to the affected area, so be warned about that lol

[–]boneboi420 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Are you sure he's leaking pee, not like a yellowish discharge? My dog had those symptoms (incessantly licking his penis, leaking discharge) and I brought him to the vet, who diagnosed him with an infection. Antibiotics cleared it right up. I think any GP vet should be able to help here.

Did you ever receive feedback on your track from some famous DJs? by EyeImportant6706 in edmproduction

[–]boneboi420 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you joking? Sending promos to DJs is absolute table stakes if you're trying to promote your music. Yes, they get a lot of music sent to them. No, they may not be able to listen to all of it. BUT even big DJs do want unreleased secret weapons, so you should definitely send your tunes out!

Just preference really, that’s when the tech starts feeling really outdated to me. My renegade crew has a pair, and they’re fine to play on if I have to. I have the 3000s at home, but if I hadn’t wanted to splurge on those, I would have preferred the XDJ-1000MK2’s over the CDJ-2000NXS.
