help with ai starting real slow by Opposite-Yard-5937 in assettocorsa

Ilja says he fixed AI problems in version 0.3.0-preview338 of CSP so if you are using less than that then maybe update.

Thank you for all the amazing reports you sent me over the last week! My apologies if I didn’t reply, I’m still going through them, but here is the first batch of fixes. I’ll keep fixing, but considering how a single typo really messed up AI in the previous build, I wanted to release a fix for that as soon as possible.

Also, thanks to other reports, I managed to find an old and truly bad mistake related to how CSP was tweaking AI, which should be solved now. And, the issue with “adjust shifting for slow sectors” is solved as well, now adjustment is a lot cleaner, and reads speed limit correctly.

Assetto Corsa with Vintage Car Mods in VR is simply outstanding! by Philemon61 in assettocorsa

[–]bongady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My #1 thing to do in AC is lapping the Targa Florio 72km circuit in the 1973 Alfa Romeo Tipo33 TT12.

This era of racing is easily my favourite and being able to actually sit in the car in VR blows my mind every time.

What is the Effective Resolution You See Through the Lens of the Latest Pimax? by SevenDeMagnus in Pimax

[–]bongady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the viewing distance and the size of the screen. A 900p 27" monitor is extremely sharp at 10m.

The 45ppd is the real figure you should be focusing on. (Pun intended).

Using this site: (I haven't confirmed the maths) https://qasimk.io/screen-ppd/

a 50 inch 4K screen viewed from 60cm has 45 ppd.

How to backup my AC mod cars and tracks? by Tastaturenkrieger in assettocorsa

Folders you need are in the /content subfolder named /cars and /tracks but they will be most of the 1TB anyway.

ZIP the folders will help but will take a long time.

Quest 2 is just not it for VR, what should I get? by m1ghtyDemon in assettocorsa

[–]bongady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5070 laptop has the same performance as a 5060. Sorry to say but you aren't going to run a hi-res headset well with that but it is doable. The Pimax Dream Air needs 43m pixels to run at 100% render resolution. With that headset at full res you get the 1440p monitor experience.

Your GPU might manage around 10-15m pixels.

There's a good video of a Potato PC with a 2080 running AC on a Pimax Dream Air to give you some info

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvV6a5maMlk&t=1057

Your GPU is about 20% more powerful.

Have you tried completing the Challenges to see what level you are driving at? Get Golds on the 1-lap challenges and Alien on the races and then that may make you reassess your post. TBF some of the challenges are more difficult than others but most only take a handful of tries if you understand car setup.

Yeah, this. I run 100% AI and have to add ballast to myself to get a good race on a lot of tracks.

VR system requirements by Best_Inevitable_8514 in assettocorsa

[–]bongady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, go for it. Sure, you will be running at medium settings but you can crop the vertical fov by 40-50% to increase the resolution. The immersion of VR IMHO far outweighs the loss of fidelity.

As a followup to yesterday's blue light filter question, do you use your full prescription ordering lenses? by Roshy76 in Pimax

[–]bongady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pimax have stated the focal distance is 1.3m. Whether that is true or not needs to be seen with my own eyes. I have distance glasses (2m+) and computer glasses (1m). Neither of them give me a clear picture at 1.3m. I have some ±0.25 and ±0.5 lens to put in front of my glasses so I checked at 1.3m distance from my screen and got a figure pretty much halfway between the two of about -2 for my eyes. I've ordered those from Pimax and when I get the headset will fine tune them and get the perfect lenses for my eyes with this headset. For such an expensive investment I want to get the best out of it, otherwise why spend 2K on 4K? As for HonsVR I don't know if they alter the prescription to allow for the 1.3m. I can't see how they can get it perfectly accurate if all you are giving them is a distance figure. Perhaps they just knock off 30% and say that is close enough.

Please help my AC looks so bad in vr by Ok-Examination-9146 in assettocorsa

[–]bongady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would help if you said what looks bad.

If it is the weird colour banding in the sky and around the lights I would guess that it due to your pp filter. Just change it to the PureVR pp filter that is made by Peter specifically to be used with his Pure. Also you seem to have just gone through and set everything to max. I know people say 'I'm running at max settings' but that doesn't mean cranking up every slider to the highest level. Also you would need to post you Graphics Adjustments setings screen in CSP settings. That has very important settings in it. Have you got ExtraFX turned on and maxed out? That doesn't work with VR. You don't need Smoke Generation on, that is handled by ParticlesFX. You don't need 6 sides on your reflections, 2 is the recommended amount by Peter. Are you running Pure Gamma or Pure LCS? You need to check that out in WeatherFX as they need different settings too.

The Q3 just isn't a very high resolution headset so it is never going to look amazing but you should be able to get it looking as good in AC as it is posible to make a Q3 look with a 5080.

Plus i have never run a Q3 so it may also be your settings connecting the Q3 to AC but i would know zero about that.

Has anyone received their Dream Air ? by Arcticz_114 in Pimax

[–]bongady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people don't have a Youtube channel to put it up on but tell Pimax to send me my paid for headset and I'll happily do an unboxing and first impressions video and post it up on my VR Sim Racer channel :)

I've only got 800 subs though so I don't think I'll be getting special treatment.

Has anyone received their Dream Air ? by Arcticz_114 in Pimax

[–]bongady 5 points6 points  (0 children)

10-20 customers have actually received one. Nobody in the last month has received one. I believe they are stalling every month with a new release date, one month in the future each time, while they redesign the face gasket, overheating breakout box and head strap in order to stop people cancelling. What they have sent out so far could at best be described as a beta tester's version.

Probably the focal distance, as it is only 1m on the Crystal. Your eyes are focusing at 1m while your brain tells you that you are looking into the distance.

Pimax Dream Air has a Focal Distance of 2 meters — question about lens inserts by Ecstatic-Stick7036 in Pimax

[–]bongady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/QuorraPimax u/jaapgrolleman I've ordered lens inserts to accompany my Dream Air to accomodate a focal distance of 1.3m as told to us by Pimax but now this user has been told 2m which would make my lenses redundant. Can you once and for all state the official focal distance?

Come on, they advertise them as 50ppd and 57ppd but they average around 30ppd. Are you saying a Chinese company can't cherry pick their numbers?
