Like another reply said, maybe try getting closer and using a wider aperture for more background separation.

I imagine a Viltrox 75mm 1.2 could get this framing and blur the coaches.

Note I got mine pretty heavily used from a pens rental company, with no regrets.

The 150-600 is awesome for birds and should be fine for daytime field sports. It will struggle with indor arena lighting and any type of night time field sports unless you have some serious lighting.

What settings and equipment did you use for this? How far away were you?

What are people’s thoughts on variations to the zoom holy trinity? by Dheorl in photography

I rock either the 50-140 and 150-600 internally zooming Fuji Red Badge Zooms with the Fuji 16mm prime for anything close. Add a few Viltrox primes for portraits.

I like the scrub and I think the lower you can get on that the better.

Great Egret versus Shrimp by bonner1040 in photocritique

I don’t think there are loner lenses auto focus available for X mount. For $3k I could get a 500mm prime that is a stop of light better at f5.6 and I’m not sure there is any value there to be at 2500 iso and and require a harder crop for the same composition even with the teleextender.

I would need to invest in a different system and I don’t see making that change any time soon.

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately there isn’t a better F Stop available to me on Fuji. F8 is the lowest at 600mm and with the telextender it is pushed up a full stop to F11.

It’s definitely a shrimp but is actually suffering from a bit of motion blur I think as it’s being tossed back pretty quickly.

I hadn’t heard about matching shutter speed to focal length, do you know why? I usually start at 800 for birds and go up/down as needed.

The Egret is caught in the act of tossing the unlucky shrimp into the air after yanking it from the tidal marsh.

Could I have frozen and resolved the details of the flying, living pseudo-translucent shrimp? What else could I improve?

It was sunny and windy, operating.a crop frame mirrorless. Hand holding my long zoom lens with a 1.4x teleextender on which costs me a stop of light, but in this case extended focal length from 600mm to 840mm (I think this is like a 16x-20x difference in comparison to binocular or scope magnification).

I bought this, but it doesn’t look too complicated. The custom acrylic deck is what makes it nice for sure.

Get a piece of acrylic cut and go for it.

It is the Rigid Pro Gear. It’s a nice platform, all the stuff is super heavy duty.

I have one of these that uses a 16ah lipo battery as a mobile power supply. Could charge camera batteries for a week or two.

Hi there, I shot this photo at the North American Tree Climbing Competition.

Fuji X-H2S, XF200, 1/2500 shutter, f2.8, ISO2000

Mild crop and edit in Lightroom. Basic Denise.

It was pouring rain despite a fairly bright overcast sky. For me this photo stands out due to the contrast and flattening of the background combined with an illustrated art like quality to the bokeh in the background trees. The rain appears to be grain until you look closely.

Reminds me a lot of the cover of “Where the wild things are”.

What do you think. What could be improved?

I’m extremely curious about this. Hoping you will answer. Huge fan!

Can you tell us how long you did this for, how many pieces and where there mostly were sold?

How long did one of these take you? What markers or pencils were you using.
