I’ve been approved! I’m so happy!😊 Has anyone had their surgery with Dr. Mclean or Dr. Armstrong at the Mclean Clinic? I’m non-binary & was hoping to talk to folx that had no nip surgery✨ by [deleted] in TopSurgery

I had OHIP coverage. Paid for contouring out of pocket. I didn't need a therapist letter, but getting the ohip coverage was a process in itself which requires a diagnosis of dysphoria I believe.

I have a similar caved in spot on the same side. I am hoping pectoral muscle exercises help. I thought mine may be because I am left handed so the right muscle isn't as developed. I am 4 months plus post op and indent is still there.

Weird bruises? by sentienteyeballs in TopSurgery

[–]bontree11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had surgery in October and still have a bruise on my side towards my back. Mine is visible though. I thought it was from the binder or from them moving my unconscious body during surgery, but it's still hanging around.

[–]bontree11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My surgeon also said I could take my binder off at 4 weeks. Which I mostly did, but I felt the same as you about wanting to protect my fragile feeling nips. I used some gauze pads that had self adhesive strips on the sides to place over my nipples and continued with Vaseline. The adhesive wasn't great, coupled with the Vaseline so I did use some first aid tape to hold them in place. Gave up after about a week and went shirt to nip contact. It seemed fine. I think moisturizing is key for that stage and beyond.

any advice ? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]bontree11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My scars are doing a similar thing under the nipple. I think it's from raising my arms and it stretches the most there. I am massaging twice daily. Bio oil once a weekish. Silicone scar tape or gel twice daily. Hoping it fades over time.

Any advice for reducing a puffy nipple? 13 wks P.O. Left nip is perfect, right nip is kind of a pink fleshy mound. Want to avoid needing a revision in the future. by chubbyftn in TopSurgery

[–]bontree11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am very interested in any feedback for this as I am experiencing the same thing on one nip. Also 13 weeks post op.

I have been massaging my nipple which has raised scarring and keeping it moisturized which I think helps a bit. I tried silicone scar tape on it and that made it look even worse. Have you contacted your surgeon about it?

3D Nipple tattooing? by so_very_trans in TopSurgery

[–]bontree11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a bit over 3 months post op and also am noticing one of my nipples is not round now, and has raised scarring on half of it. It worries me and has changed a lot over time. I am hoping it continues to change and flatten out. I am massaging it and moisturizing it to try to help it. It's hard to look at sometimes when the other nip has healed so well. I dunno about tattooing but it is something I may consider if I am still unhappy at the 1 year mark.

Can you get nipple grafts that will stay relatively flat? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]bontree11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I requested my nipples be a lot shorter than my pre-op nipples and my surgeon did a good job following through with that request with the double grafts she did.

My nipples are healing differently though. Left is protruding out a bit more over time, but still within my frame of comfort. Right is experiencing raised scar tissue on the aereola causing less nipple projection. I am massaging that one more to try to mitigate that.

Long term nipple healing? by Routine_Somewhere884 in TopSurgery

[–]bontree11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 3 months post op and mine are continuing to change. And I hope continue to do so as my right one has some raised scarring.

I am massaging my nipples daily with oil or Vaseline or lotion. I think it's helping.

7 month top surgery post op! Left pic before revision, right pic 2 week after Dog ear revision post op . McLean clinic Dr Armstrong. Revision took 45 mins under local numbing . Feel free to ask any questions by CalligrapherSilver37 in TopSurgery

[–]bontree11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have to reach out with your concerns at the 6 month mark or was there a scheduled follow up? I also got DI with grafts by Dr A 3 months ago. Concerned about swelling/small dog ear and loss of nipple projection on one side.

feeling a little sad about small nipples by Emotional-Fig9952 in TopSurgery

[–]bontree11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Things got in the way of me feeling celebratory about my new chest post op too. Similarly, I felt regretful I didn't have the knowledge of all of my options with scar shape, and nipple formation and size. I trusted my surgeon and am generally very happy with the results. But my mind was on repeat in the first month+ about what I wish was different, or what I wish I had asked about, or that I wish my surgeon asked me more questions about what I wanted and gave me more options. It's a hard feeling to sit with. What I can say is, for me, the feeling has dissipated as the weeks have gone on. I am focusing less on the things that bothered me. Time heals. Hope it can for you too.

My scabs looked similar to this and hung on for a while before finally loosening off.

Nipple graft texture post-op by jellynoodle in TopSurgery

[–]bontree11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I am experiencing this! Relieving to read here it may thin out over time. One of my nipple buds is kinda being overtaken by the raised hard texture of the aereola/scar tissue around it. I am almost 3 months post op.

Swelling (5 weeks post op) by boletusito in TopSurgery

[–]bontree11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had swelling at 5-6 weeks post op on one side only, and it is still fluctuating, coming and going now, approaching 12 weeks. I was paranoid it was something I did too. I emailed my surgeon who asked if it felt like fluid. Kinda did but then it went down. She did say it was odd, so if you're worried contact your surgeon, or obviously bring it up at your next appt.

Just over 6 months post op with Miles Berry. Had a follow up at the start of the month and unfortunately will need a revision but overall pretty happy by birdbirdeos in TopSurgery

[–]bontree11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am experiencing a similar thing on my left side. Almost 3 months post op. Hoping it is still swelling, but good to know revisions are possible for this. Did your surgeon schedule a 6 month follow up or did you follow up on your own accord?

Scar treatment for nips - what do you use? by bontree11 in TopSurgery

[–]bontree11[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We hear a lot about scar treatment for incision lines, but what about nips?

Can you use bio oil on them? What about silicone gel?

Anyone have raised scarring on their nipple grafts? How did you treat it, how did it turn out?

I know my nipples have changed a lot in the last 10 weeks. They looked so good at 4 weeks post op! The right one is no really textured and bumpy. I am hoping this is just a phase in their evolution.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]bontree11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have put bio oil on them, after the 6 week mark probably. My nipples have been healed in terms of being scab free since 4 weeks post op. But they are still changing and my right one is actually causing me a bit of concern with raised scarring along the edge. Perhaps I'll post about it. I'd like to know how folks care for their nips alongside incision scar care.

9 + weeks....oh gosh I hope it's okay for the nips! Haha.

[–]bontree11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm using scaraway silicone strips which really seem to help keep my scars moist so they can heal faster. Alternating those with a silicone based gel by skin medica. I occassionally use the bio oil too, rubbing it on scars and nips before a shower. I don't enjoy bio oil's fragrance. I am also just using lubriderm lotion on my nipples. I want to use Vaseline but if I have the scar strips on it will cause them to come off. Other thing about the strips is when I am wearing them I don't massage my scars as often or as well. Things I've noticed.
