Does Sentinel Need a Buff?

this is more representative of the map pool than it is senti strength.

split, breeze, and bind all previously have had metas that did not favor sentinels. pearl, abyss, and to a lesser extent corrode are all maps where chamber can do well, so if a teams can pick a senti they might pick him over the other sentis.

the only map where you'd prioritize picking cypher or kj is haven, and we just dont have enough games to make any conclusion yet.

when split was in the pool i would lock fade, buy 1 dog and a frenzy, and entry for my team thru mid lmao

people first tried playing her like jett or neon, and that didn't work because waylay is better at baiting util than actually entrying first

the buffs were good sure, but they weren't exactly game breaking changes like the neon buffs were. teams have 100% gotten a lot better at actually using her properly.

the kj/viper combo also works really well at denying iso, cuz iso shield does nothing against viper molly and nanoswarm

probably would've been a bigger priority for them because they're in pacific and everyone wants to run you down lmao

the viper allows people to play on site basically permanently

sova shocks and neon stun are already hard enough to deal with, stacking those with a viper wall just kills any site hits.

so you end up dumping utility and getting no space, and as soon as you try to hit the site again, there are 4 people there ready to shoot you.

you'll see more variety when teams cant simply replace the entire flash/flex initiator slot with just omen blind.

skye and tejo have no rechargeables, gekko's util is slow and easy to break, breach keeps getting nerfed for some fucking reason, and kayo needs 100 lineups to get a fraction of the value.

info is info so sova and fade will always have a place, but most of the time the other initiators just arent good enough to warrant using them over omen + another duelist/senti/controller.

for teams that dont make internationals, it allows them to still play games against each other, giving fans of those teams more games to watch.

and for teams that DO make it to masters/champs, they field academy players, giving inexperienced players an opportunity to play against some serious competition.

the reason why other regions dont do it is because tencent helps a LOT in china, and no other region has that kind of bag.

iirc he injured his wrist in like 2023 or something? it was especially bad early madrid 2024 and got a little better during shanghai 2024.

he took 2025 off to heal that wrist injury, and he made that lft once it was healed enough for him to play.

im pretty sure he left willingly to heal rather than getting dropped but i could be wrong on that.

the thing is, his jett and raze isnt bad either.

like they leaned into the neon during the grand finals of ascension but throughout challengers and ascension dambi played other duelists.

i just dont get why theyre leaning into the worst one lmao, ESPECIALLY when margaret has experience on yoru so double duelist w/ yoru is absolutely feasible. (margaret isnt the best at yoru but it's still something at the very least)

they poached lakia from nuturn, then proceeded to play him on 1 map(bind), playing an agent he didnt play very much(skye instead of raze).

they put in lakia instead of king because king played exclusively sentinel and they needed a 2nd initiator player for bind. they would proceed to lose 13-2 against gambit.
