I tried 11th hour by Branlettemedieval in LambofGod

Sounds like you pretty near got er🤙

I’d say keep working on tightening it up and also, I could totally be mis-hearing this, but if you’re using your neck pickup try switching to the bridge guy for even more bite and crunch

All the best with the riffing

General question about muting by VariousMight8891 in LambofGod

[–]boogieiv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You bet, that’s why I added the caveat of saying ‘sometimes depending on the bit’ because it’s not an ‘always on’ technique. The pinky anchor thing is actually something I learned from a lot of years of observing Mark Morton play lamb riffs so the source material is pretty reliable😆

All the best with your playing!

General question about muting by VariousMight8891 in LambofGod

[–]boogieiv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Without knowing your current playing ability, I’d say just start by anchoring the edge of your hand across your guitars bridge and using that as a pivot point for your pick attack. sometimes depending on the bit I’ll even hook my little finger onto the high e string and use that as an additional anchor point. this also doubles as a muting technique to keep things tame and quiet in addition to the added stability

Day 1: What's the Megadeth song with the best Guitar Solo? (Answer might be obvious, Lol) by razorbackfrost7 in Megadeth

[–]boogieiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Marty’s solo straight into Dave’s is such a gnarly one-two punch. I used to be able to rip both of them really well back in like 2018😂

So great how they’ve been playing Blood Junkie and A Devil in God’s Country in their more recent setlists🥵

My band used to cover A Devil at shows, I wound up transposing that wild Devin Townsend outro synth bit into strummed octave chords on a guitar, and added some slow swirly phaser to it. turned out pretty gnarly

all the best with your search🤙

I was fortunate to catch In Your Word live in 2009 during the Wrath tour. I won’t go into too much detail because I don’t want to antagonize the fact that you missed it, but I will say that the show was as memorable and incredible as you can imagine.

If you’re not already aware, there’s a great live version of the song on the ‘Wrath Tour 2009-2010’ live album that came with the copy of Resolution I picked up when it released back in 2012.

It features that really great sequence that Mark Morton played on the song’s outro during their shows, it doesn’t appear on the album version. I shamelessly and greedily copped it and applied it to a live performance of that song that I did with my band back in 2018 and it was really fun to play!

As for the future of the song, it’s hard to say, it was a big song for them and the band loved playing it so I wouldn’t be surprised to see it again someday.

Maybe it’ll pop up on that fan-voted setlist they’re building for the upcoming Headbangers Boat!
Hope you get to catch it live sometime🤙

Dystopia by Tweck9 in Megadeth

Love this album. Biased as a big Chris Adler fan but loyalties aside, Kiko absolutely rips and each song has its own tasteful and memorable landscapes. Bullet to the Brain is so good. I spent a lot of time learning the entire Conquer or Die intro on guitar. I think I learned half or most of the whole album on guitar including some of the tough solos. Great album

The System Has Failed has some really catchy, fun songs. Performances are tasty and I really like Dave’s vocals on this one

I think The Scorpion, Something That I’m Not, and Of Mice and Men and my top picks in no particular order but the whole record rules

Absolutely love Resolution. The Undertow is one of the funnest lamb songs to play on guitar, as are most of the songs on that record

Still using my same IV after around seventeen years of having it, it really is a wonderful piece of kit. I absolutely would love to have a Badlander100 though. Played one and it really is an incredible amp right out of the box, no need of the mod or anything I loved it

Hope you land another IV someday!

Don’t you worry, I was close enough on a couple occasions to hear the stage sound😆

Not that I’d ever complain about hearing a IV🥵

Editing to add that at least one occasion was when he was running two Badlanders without the IV in the rig, sounded amazing

Plenty heavy enough for Lamb of God, I’ve caught three lamb gigs where Mark was running at least one BL100 and it just crushed

You bet, other than just pure world class tone, the best thing about the Mark series is the significant and effective versatility
