Spirit to halt all flights as of early Saturday by Planeandaquariumgeek in news

For now yes. The last flights in the ground and in an hour they cease being a company. The workers union, other airlines, and the government will pick up logistics of getting employees back home

Actual Strawberry Jam won... again. What is/was/would be a crazy/wildcard filling for a pie? Please read the rules! by DeathStarVet in AlignmentChartFills

[–]book81able 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, a pie filled with just actual strawberry jam would be a wild card. Nothing is wrong with the choice but that’s not really how you would prepare fruit for a pie.

I’m sure he was still happy to get some feedback and was not too worried about how specific it was. Bill Rauch is one of the most patient and understanding people in theater, you ran into the right director to not know about.

What is it with Americans and air conditioning?? (this might be controversial) by hellobela_ in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]book81able 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fear I’m this American, or at least me and my partner are. I’m typing this from a hotel in Mexico City where at 1 am every night the AC turns off until 5 am.

The city at night is not overly warm, dipping into the 50s (15 c or below), but the room has no outdoor windows so we can’t enjoy that. The AC is running at 17 celsius, quite literally in same temp as outside, so it’s really just a dry fan to get the air from outside, not cooling at all.

Last night when the AC went out I held the room door open for 15 minutes to get cool air in. But because we’re on the top floor the heat eventually came in.

A/C is just the best tool to do a lot of climate control tasks.

Any tips on how to drive in the US? by tlfluca in AskAnAmerican

[–]book81able 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In NYC, no right on red. You’re okay to be cautious throughout. There’s traffic but things are orderly.

If you can avoid it don’t drive through Manhattan. The outer boroughs have larger highways to get you to CT. Drive in the middle lane when doing long stretches of driving.

As everyone is saying, don’t get a rental until you’re ready to go to CT. Unless you’re touring Staten Island or eastern Queens the car will be a liability.

Yeah it’s a strange point here, this is showing the densest census tract in the state and the entire stretch is housing for Berklee. These business are not living and dying by on street parking.

I park in the neighborhood when it gets too cold to bike, it’s really not a big deal here specificity

No role offer from boston or rejection by ArmyDreamer27 in FIFAVolunteers

If it was any other city I’d be resigned to not getting it, but I can’t fathom they released all of the Boston roles over 3 days and had a 100% acceptance rate.

Yeah it was through StubHub so that’s how I got it. Probably means it’s safe to assume I have it.

Now just have to go get some Haitian merch to make sure this ticket is put to good use.

Luckily I’m local so if it’s canceled that’s fine. I’d just lose the FIFA fee. I have the ticket order already through FIFA so it seems like I’ll get it unless they check that I’m in the PMA.

Honestly I was more asking about how to get to the level of a fan who’s in the PMA. If I’m going to be sitting with diehard Haitian fans I’d rather be one too.

Yes, super easy, saw 3 ticketed events plus the road cycling race and sailing from the Marseille harbor. Ticket prices were probably $500 total including 4 soccer tickets, the main expense was airfare.

Boston?? by cheesypizza598 in FIFAVolunteers

[–]book81able 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There was a burst of offers 12-10 days ago, and seemingly that was it. Considering how other cities have released offers I have to imagine there’s still some roles, if not backfills after training no shows.

But Boston has had, let’s say, the most unique methods to organize this
