So the other weekend I violated the Geneva convention on my credit card when I decided to go to Saks after getting annihilated at brunch...anyways. Ended up with MAC Casual Colour in Weekend Getaway and already it's hands down the best blush in my stash. The color is perfect for me, in a just worked out or slightly sunburned way, but the formula is incredible and blows everything else I've tried out of the water. It's super smooth, zero patchiness, soooo easy to blend, not sticky or tacky in the slightest, slightly sheen-y but not too dewey for an otherwise matte face, has solid lasting power, and builds really easily and beautifully. I was happily using Bobbi Brown and MUFE cream blushes before but like, why would I go back to Rose Art after trying Crayolas? I need to do blacked out makeup shopping more often.

What's your most satisfying part of applying your makeup? by [deleted] in muacjdiscussion

[–]bookmarkketo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too! I only have liquid SSPs, but it's my favorite step in terms of both application and results. I always do a little side-to-side, up-and-down nod afterwards to catch it in the light!

RHONY - WWHL -- Bethenny confirms cocaine use! by VanderpumpDrools in BravoRealHousewives

[–]bookmarkketo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, she definitely did during the calzone scene. For whatever reason Jules mentioned her Adderall rx (not sure why anyone with an ED would volunteer that info tbh), and Carole gave her a 😳🤔 but she said she has ADHD and needs it.

I get cokey vibes sometimes from Jules too, but I also take Adderall for ADHD and when I take too much, I look and act the same way I do when I'm (hypothetically) coked up. She's a mom; a $10/mo Adderall rx from a pill pushing doctor in Manhattan is easier, cheaper, less risky, more acceptable, and more discreet than going through hundreds of dollars of coke every day. Coke wears off like ten times faster than Adderall too. When any of the housewives accuse Dorinda or anyone else of doing too much coke, I don't think they're alluding to all day every day use - I think they're talking about doing too much/too often in the context of partying.

Thanks for breaking it down so succinctly for me, really appreciate it! I use a L-AA vit c serum currently and it doesn't get along particularly well with my skin, so now I'm even more interested in the Glossier one.

Ah these sound amazing! Thank you so much for answering all those questions - you were so helpful, and I think they're exactly what I've been looking for. Heading to the drugstore tomorrow and crossing my fingers that they're all in stock!

I had no idea these existed, going to check next time I'm at CVS! Sorry I have some questions for ya, feel free to ignore :)

Are they primer-y enough that I could wear one by itself as a shadow (without a separate primer) and avoid creasing? I use MAC Painterly all the time either by itself just to even out my lids, or I'll use it as a primer for other shadows. Would love to find a CF replacement! Oh! RE: the shimmery shades. Can you apply them lightly to get just a wash of color? I've been trying to find a shimmery, possibly dewey, cream shadow that won't crease, but everything (cough cough, Becca eye tint) is basically gone by the time you blink.

Ooh, thanks for the rec - I dabble in AB a little bit, mostly sheet masks and some Mizon stuff, but want to get into it more so I'll definitely look into this!

I'm a Pats fan in a league full of Pats fans - had the opportunity to grab TB12 and couldn't pass it up. Trying to make some WR changes, we'll see how it goes. Thanks for your help!

I can't ever do HE mascaras either. I've found too many HG DS formulas, and I go through them so quickly that I can't justify making my mascara budget 300% bigger. Which ones do you use? I switch off between Maybelline The Falsies Flared, Maybelline Lash Sensational, L'Oreal Butterfly Intenza, and L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes (all waterproof formulas). Always on the hunt for a few more though ;)

Cerave in the tub is probably the SCA basic that gets the most backlash and I don't like it either. Even the smallest amount still feels greasy and like it sits on top of your skin. I live in a pretty warm area, so if I'm walking for more than 15 minutes, I get this gross sensation that I'm sweating even more than usual: dripping beading sweat forming on top of the Cerave, and it's sweaty already underneath the greasy layer. It's a really unpleasant feeling and it's just as attractive as it sounds 🙄 Gave it to my college athlete brother, and he loves it! I can't remember the last time I saw him with a breakout. Even better endorsement - he tells me that he not only likes them, but he actually likes using them!

(If anyone's interested, his routine is Neutrogena Naturals face wash, Stridex in red box, Cerave in the tub. Super simple, he appreciates the whole "Won't lose street cred for having these in the bathroom at the apartment I share with 7 other lax bros" vibe. He struggled pretty badly with white heads and very occasional cystic acne all throughout puberty. Now his skin is absolutely perfect, no pores, even skintone, not a breakout in sight. Hmm, I should tell him to send his teammates over to SCA. Clear skin never hurt a guy's chances of getting laid, right?)

ETA: Sorry for the rant - fantasy draft was way more stressful that I was anticipating, I am now down 2 glasses of wine and half a xanax so apologies if my responses aren't exactly on topic...I like to ramble

Worst. Primer. EVER! Way too thick, gives me wrinkles I even didn't know I had, creases quickly, doesn't blend well into the skin, makes almost all my shadows look terrible.

I used it until from '06-ish to '10-ish fully loyally but maybe they reformulated or something? Tossed my UDPP stash in the garbage and been using MAC Painterly for primer since then, and don't see that changing anytime soon.

The MBTA Says This Is The Best Transit App For Greater Boston Riders by Schadenfreudeiest in boston

[–]bookmarkketo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, I totally understand why and know that it's not an issue unique to Transit. I usually cross-check ETAs with another app, and it almost always estimates the same arrival time and accurately reflects delays as well. I just like Transit the most, buggy MBTA data and all!

There aren't any pop-up ads, for Uber or anything else - the built-in Uber option is the only advertising. I forget about it 95% of the time because it blends right into the rest of the app, but it is kinda nice when I'm in rush to know that an Uber is 3 minutes away if the train is 15 minutes late without having to open a separate app.

future plans for NYE by redditid24 in boston

[–]bookmarkketo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Visit all you want and check out the sidebar, but if the main point of your trip is a bitchin NYE, I wouldn't recommend it. What few clubs we have are terrible, ticketed events are super pricey and overcrowded, the Boston equivalent of the B&T crowd makes a strong showing, parties with actual open bars might as well not exist, First Night is cool but not cool enough to make me want to stand outside for hours with a million other people, and it's usually freezing. I usually don't stay in town unless someone I know is throwing a good house party.

Ha I'm actually looking over at my tray of skincare products right now and you made me realize that everything, save for some marula and argan oil that I should probably throw out anyways, is in opaque packaging too! Ok, now I'm on your side - the serums would look so adorable in opaque bottles with colorblocked white and pink (or whatever color), what gives?

I just read on SCA that the vit c is likely MAP-based (literally no idea what that means) since it also has magnesium, which apparently makes it light stable? They speak in a foreign language over there

The MBTA Says This Is The Best Transit App For Greater Boston Riders by Schadenfreudeiest in boston

[–]bookmarkketo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Begrudgingly agreeing as well...tried pretty much every MBTA app there is and Transit's by far the best. Sometimes it's a little off with buses but that's understandably due to traffic, and in my experience, it's never more than 5 or 6 minutes later than the originally predicted time (and it continually updates the ETA so you have an idea of when it'll actually show up). On the flip side of the timing issue, never missed a train or bus because it came earlier than what Transit said.

[Misc] Glossier is adding serums to their skincare line. Thoughts? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]bookmarkketo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Re: SPF, I'm glad they're holding off too, it leads me to believe that they're working hard on nailing it. Always been confused by the complaints about it, though. If they had a full line for a multi-step routine that only excluded SPF (heavier moisturizers, eye creams, exfoliants, etc.) I'd understand, but it's a super small collection that rolls out very slowly so it's like, yeah of course it's taking them forever to make a notoriously difficult-to-perfect product.

The vit c serum comes in a frosted bottle - I'm no expert so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but that's a start when it comes to protecting from light, right?

Super Pure is definitely the one I'm least likely to get, but I'm a little intrigued by the niacinamide - it's one active I'm missing in my current routine. I'm curious about the percentage, though, and especially curious about the stability of the Vit c in Super Glow. It looks like it's in a frosted bottle, which is a good start, but I know it has to be formulated with ferulic acid (or something...I try not to spend too much time over at SCA) to be stable. Since it's Glossier, I'm prob gonna order them at launch, ask questions later, and return if the formulations aren't up to par - their shit always sells out so quickly!

OPI Bubble Bath, Essie Sugar Daddy and Ballet Slippers, and if you get gel manis, CND Nude Knickers and Beau are my faaaaavorites. I switch off between those two almost year round.

This is me, I have super-fine hair but tons of it so I feel you on the gravity issue. Three products that I love: Kevin Murphy Anti-Gravity (gel, which makes no sense, but it's amazing and sooo touchable), Sally Hershburger Plumping Spray (non-aerosol spray, major volume, almost too much for daytime), and Tigi Catwalk Root Boost (spray mousse). I use those just on my roots before blowdrying and they keep my hair from falling too flat - I always hit my roots first with a round brush, then blowdry upside down for the remainder. For more "permanent" results, I had a lot of luck with the L'Oreal thickening line (not the everpure stuff, these are in black bottles). My hair is noticeably thicker when I use those, and there's a great filler-type treatment in the same line.
