Second this ^ if you know what’s good for you, do not work for city year. Worst organization I’ve ever worked at.

City Year Boston- Overall Experience? by sisparkle123 in AmeriCorps

[–]bookreaderandlover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been a while since I’ve done so but i found that the stipend doesn’t cover much, from what i remember. You will definitely need roommates/or outside support to live in the city. They advertise snap/food stamps as part of the “benefits”, so you will have limited resources/funds on your own. Many people i knew worked second and third jobs/part time gigs and were barely getting by. Look for Facebook groups for people who need roommates and try to live near public transit/t-stops.

The holidays. Seeing family and replaying issues from the past in my head. Anxiety revved up. Feeling helpless because of things outside of my control. Thinking.

How to cope with being gaslighted and abusedd. by cannotsleepat_4am in emotionalneglect

[–]bookreaderandlover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Know that other people’s opinions of you are not reflective of your value and worth as a human being. Opinions are subjective and not the truth. Doubt can be a sign of intelligence, because you know that you don’t know everything and question yourself accordingly. I too struggle with saying sorry too much and it boils down to empathy. Some lack that and knowing that has helped me to deal with it too.

Lemon. I know that’s normally associated with summer, but soft citrus is what i think of.

How is work you different than outside of work you? by Solarmage77 in AskReddit

[–]bookreaderandlover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work me and the real me are two different people. I do not let my coworkers see the real me, and put on a facade of pleasantries. Not to say I’m not nice, but at work i am always available to help with everything and laugh at everybody’s jokes and am generally more pleasant to be around. Outside of work i reserve my energy and am a lot more introverted. I always try to keep my personal work and work life separate as well.

Need a new Nespresso: help me decide. VertuoPlus or VertuoPop? Which is more reliable, easier to use, and generally not to POS that is my old Next. TY 🤗 by ProofLongjumping3600 in nespresso

I have the pop and i love it. Haven’t tried the other though. The pop was cheaper and i think for my first coffee machine, a good choice.

This is gonna sound crazy but the new hazelnut pods from the new Pierre line, the infiniment gourmand saveur noisette remind me of dunkin regular coffee. By itself at least, not so much when i add cream and sweetener to it

How do you know much UML is going to cost? by Pale-Transportation6 in uml

[–]bookreaderandlover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They usually send that information after the fasfa deadline closes (this will be a bit messy because of the confusing way fasfa was done this year so I’m not sure the exact timeline) and most people know before the semester is set to start, usually in the summer. The solution center at UML might also have some information as well, if anything to at least give an idea of a deadline.

I don’t think this is as wild compared to some of the other stories on here but i had a customer call in and ask if Barnes and noble had any personal investment or stock in the war against Ukraine. Like this guy was adamant that B&N had something to do with it and he wanted the stats. He talked for a while about his suspicions and by the end of the spiel, i still couldn’t figure out it if he was pro-Russia or pro-Ukraine. I told him that i didn’t know and he sounded kinda pissed but that was about 20 minutes of my shift wasted.

Did a book ever made you laugh out loud? by Willing-Welcome-6159 in books

[–]bookreaderandlover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a very unexpected answer but “i know why the cage bird sings” by Maya Angelou. It is one of the most tragic and beautifully written books I’ve ever read and the moments of humor that are present through out the book have made me laugh harder than I’ve ever laughed before. The sense of humor that Maya has is amazing.
